Went in for breakfast, not expecting much and I didn't get much. Expensive for the food I had. Not many omelette choices. Service wasn't good. Once I had my food the waitress never came back. The only good thing I can say is I got...my food fast. That's it.More
Had the distinct pleasure of having breakfast at Sparty's Coney Island last week. While the interior shows some wear and will need some refurbishing (like booth seats) it presently adds to the down-home way things used to be (I grew up in the NYC area...with dinners). I had a business meeting during breakfast and the service staff could not have been better - respectful of our conversations and yet considerate of providing good service. The breakfast choices were great as was the tastes. Everything was prepared to our satisfaction/directions. The place filled up and stayed busy, however, they moved folks in/out without feeling rushed or in our case, we lingered. There was a mix of what appeared to be daily diners, a few who come often but not every day and business meetings like us. There were also families.I can't wait to go back for a coney dog.More
First time here on advice of son. Great breakfast. Huge portions, endless coffee, great service. Very popular place as it was super busy. We all had omelettes and shared one of their huge pancakes. Good value.
I met an old friend at Sparty's Coney Island. It had been about 8 years since I had been here.
I'm happy to report that very little has changed. I love that they offer both Flint (meaty) and Detroit (lose and saucy) style coney dogs....I still can't choose which I like better and so I got one of each. And the actual hot dogs are Koegel Vienna and so they are high quality and delicious. They have that "snap" when you bite them. Add onion rings or fries and you've got a great lunch!
The place was crowded and the wait staff hustles. They also do a very good breakfast.
This is a diner style restaurant. The kitchen is in the same room as the dining room. Expect some noise and come as you are.
The waitress kept calling me "Hun." As in "More coffee Hun?" I felt special until I realized that's what she calls all the old men.... Oh well.... I liked it anyway.
Will I be back? Repeatedly!More
I’m a big fan of Coney Islands because they’re usually an inexpensive way to get a decent meal. I was disappointed with this one. It’s too greasy and lacked the quality of many other Coney Islands. There were no healthy options, such as a grilled...chicken sandwich or a Greek salad topped with grilled chicken. The burger was small and greasy. Just not the good food I’m accustomed to always getting at Coney Islands in the Ann Arbor and Detroit areas. Why are the restaurants always two steps down in the Lansing area?More
Any time you are in the East Lansing area you absolutely must have breakfast at Soarty's. Great food and don't plan to leave hungry. On MSU football Saturday, arrive early or you may have a short wait. But don't be discouraged, it's worth the wait!...Sparty is always there and he'll treat you like family.
I just had breakfast there and had blue berry pancakes. They were huge and over flowed the plate. I had a single and I was very full. You can get 1,2, or 3 pancakes, I've had 2 and it was all I could eat. Spartys...is a Coney island type of restaurant , long on good food and not so much on surroundings. I've never had their Coney dogs but have been told they are good. Their other breakfasts eggs bacon sausage and grill cooked potatoes are excellent.More
This place has the best breakfast for the price. I was amazed at how much food I got. The eggs are massive and the potatoes were phenomenal. I am a frequent visitor and the service could not be better. There is also not usually a...line!More
