We went here and really enjoyed the show and the food was great. the portions are so big, you definitely have leftovers and love the noodles they serve with the fried rice. Sang and gave us a fried ice cream for the person in our party celebrating her birthday!

Welcoming Staff. Great Service!!!!!!!! The food was extremely tasty. We had a party of four and three of us purchased the all you can and one ordered the steak sizzling dish with veggies and rice. ALL the food was fresh, colorful and very very good. I enjoyed the rainbow roll, California roll, veggie roll, spicy tuna roll, a raw piece of salmon and a side salad . I was FULL but I could of kept ordering more and the price won't change. The menu is full of other thing and some with a breading it looked very good, my son order those thing but I dont care the breaded stuff. TRY THIS PLACE!!!!

I have been to Kyoto sushi probably 30 times in the last 2 years. Amazing sushi. Never disappoints. I feel like I have tried almost every sushi item on the menu. Everything is always fresh and delicious!

Our group loves Japanese style cooking, however, this was our worse experience ever. Food arrived cold (filet was not tender), service not good - we had to ask them several times to clear table before our food arrived, never offered drink refills (we had to ask). Overall the quality of food was poor as was the service. Beware restaurant adds 18% so there is no way to send your message loud and clear the food and service was more like 5%.

Kyoto is typical of Japanese-themed restaurants sporting hibachi grills and a culinary show with tool-juggling, egg-tossing, and eyebrow-smoking pyrotechnics. But sadly, the food is ordinary. Each of these restaurants seem to fail in the same way. Whether they are grilling shrimp, steak, chicken, lobster, or a few other proteins, they all taste the same. The same sauces are applied to nearly every dish. There is an enormous range of flavors that could be introduced that would make the experience more interesting. Everything at Kyoto was overly salty, so much so that if you closed your eyes, it was difficult to tell what you were eating. In fairness, the menu at Kyoto is extensive. My grandchildren wanted to sit at the grill, but the sushi offerings might have been more to my tastes. Service was attentive, although it took awhile to get things underway. Don’t go to Kyoto expecting haute cuisine, go for the show.

I always order the same things : either the hibachi grill when my family visits or steak teppanaki with seaweed salad & miso soup. Every single time it is done perfectly. The teppanyaki flavoring & accompanying sauces are delicious (not that sugary overpowering Americanized version of Japanese food.).
Service is impeccable every time. Prices are good.

Tried their Bento (Japanese box lunch). Chose shrimp teriyaki and enjoyed the variety of flavors and textures. Decor and food provided a very relaxing lunch. With hot tea, bill came to about $12.50 plus tip.

We have just moved back to the area and were in the mood for Asian. Located in a nondescript busy strip mall we were unsure whether to try. I'm so glad we did. The atmosphere was very quiet and soothing. Understated and welcoming. There is a bar area in the front, tables in the dining area, a sushi bar and the hibachi grills. We chose the tables and received excellent service. My husband is a huge fan of Nigiri Sushi and was thrilled to find they had an excellent selection. The presentation was wonderful and the fish was clean, fresh and he said delicious. The portions were quite generous and he opted for the all you could eat selection. I chose the chicken teppanyaki and was not disappointed. Rather than a mound of chicken and vegetables on the plate, it was served on a divided plate, 4 sections, one for each component. Fresh and not at all overpowered with soy sauce. Each flavor stood out on its own. It was served with soup and a salad first. We both agreed it was a wonderful meal and definitely will return.

The meal was excellent! We enjoyed everything we had. We ate in the regular part of the restaurant, did not try the grill area. We will be back for sure,

My husband and I came here on a Friday at 2:00 for our anniversary "dinner". (Watch out - they close at 3:00 for a few hours). I had the teriyaki lunch bento box with salmon and my husband had the lobster and filet teppanyaki combo. They both came with soup and salad and the portions were generous. We both really enjoyed our meals, it was nice to break away from our standard Italian or steakhouse regulars. The inside decor was very clean and sleek. The hibachi girl was not open during the time we were there, so if you want to watch them cook, you should check the hours for that.

We recently ate at Kyoto with two other couples for their birthday dinner. There were six of us in the party and we sat at the hibachi. We ordered alcoholic drinks and food and were pleasantly surprised with the amount of food we received for the price. It was really good food. We received our bills and just checked to make sure we were charged correctly for the drinks and hibachi items. Our bill showed $56 which was approximately what it could have been around. We added another $11 + for "tip".. we paid cash. After our friends that had paid by credit card received their card back they noticed that gratuity had already been included in our charges. Not sure if because there were six of us or else the fact that we sat at hibachi. This was NOT disclosed at the beginning or when our checks were brought. So our server basically got over $20 in tips and only brought us our drinks. I felt like I had been ripped off by that. That should be disclosed at the beginning or even have it on the menu so people are aware of it and can tip more if they choose.

Went to Kyoto for lunch for the second time and my first impressions were confirmed - they have the best lunch deals in Kalamazoo. Once you walk into Kyoto from the relatively unattractive strip mall in which the restaurant is located, you are greeted with a very attractive dining area broken up into sections: the hibachi grill area, the dining room with tables and a counter in front of the sushi prep area (there is also a bar area in front of the restaurant with TV's). The menu has a good variety of choices. Many of the lunch menu items are under $10. I have had the teriyaki and tempura Lunch Bento Boxes and the amount (and quality) of the food is surprising. Along with the chicken, shrimp or beef, you get Miso soup, salad, four pieces of California roll, three fried shrimp and a large portion of steamed rice. The restaurant also has cocktails and a limited beer and wine selection). In addition to the lunch specials, there are also a wide variety of sushi rolls, Udon noodle dishes and many other menu choices. Overall, food and service were very good and the atmosphere was pleasant. I feel that this is a great place to get very good food at a reasonable price.
