We arrived in the evening and taken to our room (room 1). The room was nice and first impressions were good. The shower turned out to be very poor, no power and temperature control was frustrating. We had booked a table for an evening meal and chose starters and mains off the specials menu. The duo of beetroot and feta... More

The White Hart serves excellent pub grub at reasonable prices. The bar is cosy and booking is advisable.

Great food and very friendly locals, we enjoyed three evening meals in the white hart inn, pet friendly which is great to have a beer after a walk followed by a nice meal all cooked from local produce if available. A great selection of ales and beers. Open fire and farm memorabilia hanging around the walls, very comfortable and relaxing.... More

Called in for lunch at the end of october. Good size car park, clean and well furnished in traditional style. We received a warm welcome, there were a good few local ales and the food was fresh and tasty.

Good ale and very good pub grub in a pub with more character than a Tolstoy novel! I have known this pub for longer than I want to think about. It has always been outstanding for some reason, but the current incarnation as an off-the-beaten-track village food-pub is a wonderful one. The food is consistently good, and fairly priced; and... Been coming here for nearly 30 years. Excellent well kept Real Ale . Usually choice of 6. Good quality generous pub food. Hard to fault. In summer evenings seating area out back catches the sun. Playground for children across the road. Plenty of parking. Good locals trade. Every village needs a pub like this. There are not many in Lakes... More

Room was pleasant and clean, bed comfy, Heating worked, tea and coffee in the room. Location lovely, beautiful view from breakfast room, nice breakfast. About a 25 minute drive from Windemere\Bowness. All good. Some issues with food- have provided a separate review to be able give fair scores for both.

Normally we choose their local venison & have never regreted it but this time the black board description of the Game Pie special was so tempting that we discovered a new treat. Our quests Gammon Steak filled his plate (before doing likewise to his belly!)

Visited here two nights in a row as we were glamping on a nearby farm. Didn't book either night and got a seat no problem. A quirky country pub, with a nice local feel. Unfortunately the Sunday roast had run out but had steak pie (both nights) which was a real treat. Good menu & comfortable surroundings. Only slight criticism... More

Visited the White Hart during a day out in The Lake District. The menu was fairly extensive along with daily specials on the blackboard. There was options for inside or outside dining but because of the time of the year there were several wasps around so we chose inside. It is quite unusual to see halibut steaks on menus but... More
