Found this randomly after reading other reviews, we loved it! Very quaint and we ended up eating there every night as the food was excellent. The room we stayed in was the loft conversion but we knew this on booking and didn't mind having to 'duck' under the sloped roof! The staff were all excellent and very friendly and the... More

Ancient village pub with stuffed dead animals on wall and uneven floors but attentive friendly staff and most important of all delicious food. My cannelloni was perfect and the gammon (a daily special) was huge, thick and super tasty. Definitely worth a visit if staying in the area or even passing by.

Second visit here. Absolutely tremendous. Had room one this time. Food spectacular. Sampled the kiev off the specials board and my other half loved the gammon so much had it two nights in a row! Spotlessly clean room with stunning views. Made to feel so welcome especially off Louis and Ben the two barmen who are also brothers. Also a... More

A lovely quiet village pub serving several guest ales a must for anyone staying near by, dogs were allowed in also so it was a welcome break to pop in here for a few drinks whilst waiting for the rain to die off, Warm and cosy inside, look forward to visiting again

This place is EXACTLY as you expect it to be - and there's nowt wrong with that. Quaint, old-fashioned and full of dodgy taxidermy, what's not to love? The ales and strange Belgian Strawberry beer were a delight and the food... well, excellent! Specials were mostly fish and boy, was it good! Halibut steak in parsely and butter sauce was... More

Never had a bad meal here. Always busy. Best to reserve a table to avoid disappointment. Had the burger off the specials board....this needs to be on the menu permanently! Was delicious. Very tasty, very filling!! Good chips. Good service as always.

Ate here twice during a 6 night stay nearby, both times the food was beautifully cooked even though the pub was very busy indeed. Well done management and staff

Stayed one night a business trip to the Lake District. The room was clean and the food excellent. In good weather which thankfully it was, there is a nice seating area at the rear of the inn next to the car park and looking on to adjacent fields and horses. I cannot remember when breakfast was from, 8.30 I think... More

Visited twice over a weekend when staying at a local B&B. On the Friday we booked very last minute(within an hour of arriving) the staff are very friendly and although the pub was very busy we keen to chat and ensure we had evetything we needed. The meal was wonderful. There was a good range of food available. Good quality... More
