We enjoyed a delicious patty melt fries and wonderful coleslaw tonight. Only two issues... The fries were great tasting but were cold and the poor server had to wait on the entire room. She did her best in spite of being short staffed. We will return in the future but hope there's extra help next time. People with less patience would have probably walked out.

We stopped in this local place for a light dinner. We sat at the bar and thoroughly enjoyed the casual atmosphere. The waitress/bar tender was fun, easy-going and accommodating when my husband wanted to substitute a side dish. The food was good. We gave a 'thumbs up' to the large onion rings. The best surprise was the dessert - homemade Bread Pudding! It was soooo good, we were tempted to get a second helping!!

Must stop place if you're in the area! Read the reviews ahead of time & like some others we stay at Platte River Natl park camping each year. There isn't a lot in the area but now we know about this place. We ate lunch on a Thursday & I think it was "Niki" that served us. Great service from quick hot delicious food to wonderful attentive service! Such good food we came back for breakfast & again we were so pleased with the service the young lady that served us-the kitchen staff are extremely talented knowing how to fix omlettes, macaroni & cheese, the best (I think) homemade bread I've had in a while, my husband had roast beef with he said not instant potatoes and gravy & he couldn't finish it which never happens! You really should stop here but be hungry.

What a pleasant surprise. We have lived in Traverse City for years & have driven by The Platte River Inn so many times commenting that we need to eat there some day. Finally did it & can't wait to go back. We are previous restaurant owner/operators & tend to be very picky diners, always watching & waiting for something to go wrong. Never happened.
The BLT with home made fries, Chicken Parmesan with Garlic Bread (I got 4 meals out of 1 order) & the Perch Dinner along with generous dinner salads were more than we expected. Quite unbelievable how tasty & fresh the food was as well as the heaping portions.
On top of the awesome food we were quite surprised at how terrific our server, Ashley was. She was attentive without being overpowering & she knew what we needed before we had to ask. She was sooooooo busy, bartending, serving, bussing etc. She was the only one we saw working in the bar section of the restaurant. Always had a smile & seemed to genuinely care about her customers. Don't know how she does it. What a great employee & what a positive testament she gave to working at The Platte River Inn. (this is a real review-no one paid us or asked us to write this)

Lovely dinner in warm and quaint dining room. Our server was friendly and attentive. We enjoyed quesadillas, wet burrito, spaghetti and chicken Parmesan. There was a very nice selection of beers. The desserts looked scrumptious but the large portions filled us up so we passed. The prices were reasonable and we will return.

Ok, this was not our destination when we headed out to dinner. Other restaurants in Honor were closed (on a May Friday night) so we defaulted to the restaurant that was open. However, we were very pleased with the default!
We had the fish dinner special. Fish was perfectly cooked, home cut fries were tasty, and the cole slaw was good, but overly juicy. Wait staff were friendly and interactive, as well as the hostess-even though all were working very hard as the place was busy with a waiting list. We sat at the bar, so from overhearing various customers greet each other, we noticed much of the crowd was local and regular. I think that is always a good sign.

We’ve been twice to the Platte River Inn recently. The breakfast was huge. A great value, and the food was excellent. Our table had a variety of items and they all exceeded expectation. Several guests actually took home leftovers. Breakfast plates are 14” across to accommodate the large servings.
Dinner was served on the same plates! Our perch dinner was 7 lightly battered 7-10” fillets. We’re almost always on the hunt for a good perch dinner & this is the best we’ve found in the area.
The Inn is vintage Northern Michigan. Rachael was our server both visits. No matter how “stretched” she was, she handled all our needs efficiently.
We’ll be back soon!

Great family-run place. The staff were very friendly, although at times service was slow. The food is worth the wait. Hearty portions and a good variety make it easy to fill up, especially on breakfast. We ate dinner and several breakfasts here.

It doesn't look like much from the outside but the interior has a great up north vibe and surprisingly good food. We visit often for the ribeye dinner, which is a great value. They also mix great drinks.

Best breakfast you will find in michigan if you walk away hungry your in serious trouble. Very nice restaurant up north style decor unbelievable clean and bright. Food is fresh and plentiful service was friendly and quick. This is one you don’t want to miss..

Stop in for lunch on a recent vacation. The place is very clean. service was great. Family really enjoyed the meals . I had the Michigan staple Olive burger, It was great, cook just right. Very large portions. Kids enjoyed listening to jukebox, so much I think they entertained the small crowd there. I highly recommend Platte River inn. Plan on full belly.

Nice atmosphere inside. The place is all done in knotty pine. It has a main room and a game room. Both rooms have seating at tables. There is a twelve seat bar. I got the broiled white fish which came with one side and soup it salad and a piece of delicious corn bread. I chose the vegetable beef soup. My dinner was delicious and the soup was very good. My wife got the steak, she loved everything too. The prices around $25 per entree. Great service. I highly recommend.

We had breakfast here and it was one of the best omelets I have ever had!! The portions are huge. They staff was very attentive and thoughtful and thorough. The facilities are super clean and well maintained. Definitely worth the trip
