Terrible! We had an expensive event here. Food was teeny, staff was non existent, and even though I gave them pictures of my expectations it wasn’t even close. For example I showed them pictures of a cake I wanted, they said no problem. Well image...you have envisioned a decorative cake for an event you are planning, and you get a plain white cake. No decorations. No apology. By the way if they couldn’t do it, there is cake place around the corner.More

Our first time at the Historic Holly Hotel Restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised despite the negative reviews online. We are harsh critics and participants of the annual Restaurant Week in Detroit, so we have high standards. The Historic Holly Hotel passed with flying colors. I...had the Tournedos of Beef and my wife had the Whitefish. She gives the Whitefish 5 stars+. I give the Tournedos of Beef 4 stars. I ordered it medium and it was overly seared on the outside, and was swimming in their sauce. The steak itself was a very generous 8-10 ounces and perfect in the center. The next time, I'll request the sauce on the side. Our waitress Sarah was extraordinary despite serving the entire dining room. She was perfectly absent while we ate but knew when to appear right when we needed her! Make sure you order the French Onion soup. Best I've ever had anywhere! Our deserts with cappuccino's were the perfect finish. It was a great night overall and we joined the diners club because of it!More

My wife wanted beef wellington. I did a search and found this place. We live 45 minutes away, the reviews looked promising, we made the trip. Well worth it. Crab cakes and brie apps were delicious. I loved the creamy garlic soup. The wellington was...excellent, the walleye and tenderloin were also great. The atmosphere was so nice, staff was so good. No doubt we will be returning. Highly recommend.More

My wife and I just finished our home to go meal. It was fantastic! Everything from the clear directions for heating, the still warm bread, and the wine pairing for the meal was very thought out and delicious! Thank you for a great evening at...home.More

We made dinner reservations, and were so excited! As we walked in, we were struck by the old world and spooky ambience....the bar area reminded me of "The Shining". We were seated immediately, and our server, Colleen was amazing. We had water immediately, in really...beautiful goblets, and had a drink from the bar within 5 minutes of sitting down. Our appetizers were outstanding, and Colleen made sure that we were happy, she checked in with us for every course. We had shrimp stuffed mushrooms, and Brie En Croute, and both were outstanding...and for the complexity of the dish, we did not wait very long....We really felt like they were cooking for us all day, and were just waiting for us to arrive. . We both had different salads, the Iceberg Wedge and the Artisan Greens. We both really enjoyed the salads, they were amazing....we could tell that a great deal of time went into the preparation....the apples were white, not turning brown, and crisp, the candied nuts were delicious, and the citrus dressing was bright and flavorful. Then, Colleen came to the table with Molasses Bread and homemade whipped honey butter....and I am sorry that I did not try to buy some and take it home...It was heavenly! Our next course was mushroom soup. It was perfect, in flavor, texture, seasoning, and temperature. It was the best mushroom soup that I have ever tasted. For the main entrée, there were 11 great choices to choose from. We had the Lake Superior Whitefish, which actually was superior. It was served with roasted potatoes. and grilled vegetables, that were so perfectly seasoned, that I wish they sold their seasoning, because I would use it on everything. For dessert, we took home the Lemon Cake, and it was exquisite. I really felt as if they were cooking for me all day. It felt personal, and really as if I was at a friends house for dinner. Colleen was really wonderful, and made us feel at home. This was such a great experience.... I felt so spoiled!!! Thank you so much!More

The food is OUTSTANDING!!! My hubby and I were absolutely amazed! The dessert is also so amazing. Wait staff is always entertaining and nice. The place itself is very spooky and fun. I wish I could come here all the time. Any date night opportunity...will be here no doubt. Try it out and ignore the nasty review that like one person left... I was shocked reading it because I've been here a few times and it's always magnificent.More

This hotel/restaurant is so charming and like stepping back into time. Beautiful antique mirrors, delicate china cups and saucers, fabulous tea and food. I attended a luncheonish tea and food and it was a great experience. The staff was friendly, the building atmosphere relaxing and...the food was so good. The chicken strudel was amazing! Definately a place to visit. You can become a member of the Holly Hotel as well for a very reasonable annual fee with great perks! I am joining for sure.More

This small town is a wonderful place to visit and if you want a memorable place to eat, dine at the Historic Holly Hotel. We ate a late lunch at the hotel and was very pleased with the meal which included tea, soup, main entree,...and dessert. It was fascinating to see all the beautiful decorations and to envision what it must have been like to live in the 1800's. The stained glass is especially elegant and it adds a great deal to the ambiance of the restaurant. We noticed photos of George H.W. Bush and his wife Barbara when they dined at the hotel. So if you would like to feel like you are royalty, spend an afternoon or evening eating in this fine establishment.More

I have had many experiences with the Holly Hotel ranging from brunch, dinner, comedy show, engagement proposal, and even my wedding. Every time is memorable and continues to exceed my expectations. The...staff has become like a second family. I will continue to patron and recommend this amazing place tucked into a historic town.More

Ambiance and service was great! Food: not so much. Expected brewed tea not tea bags. There were eight of us. My salmon was good but potatoes were cold. Soup was too spicy. Should have been given choice of soups. Dessert was good.
