Food and ambience

A tribute to the maritime heritage of beautiful Harbor Springs, Stafford's Pier Restaurant offers true waterfront dining, quite literally, as the Pier Restaurant was built on original pilings over the harbor. The Pier's Pointer Room overlooks the historic yacht basin while offering visitors a superb choice of fine cuisine. A local meeting spot, the Wheelhouse Lounge is open daily for cocktails with a complete menu. Dudley's Deck is without question the most famous outdoor dining spot in northern Michigan and the place to be each and every Fourth of July. Along with spectacular views, the Pier notes an impressive culinary team, lead by Executive Chef Rob Sargent. The Pier is always the center

We are writing this review with total gratitude and hope after our serendipitous encounter with the restaurant’s manager Jody and our sweet server Bree- the world we are living in isn’t kind, but if we are kind to each other, life is still as beautiful...as it was. As frequent world travelers, since the pandemic, we are forced to stay home for months and finally decide on a tri-state road trip. Nonetheless, along the route, it was disappointment after disappointment. With the pandemic, you can’t help but feeling the hopelessness, frustration and resentments among businesses in local communities, so we decided to cut the trip short and headed back home, then we stopped at Stafford’s Pier for lunch. Jody opened our hearts with her incredible sense of hospitality and her well of knowledge in local history and surrounding businesses. We got seated right away, and had a fantastic lunch that was much appreciated after days of fast food. The scallop BLT was just to die for! And the rest were equally amazing. And our server Bree was super sweet and attentive. Not to mention, this place is siting at a breathtaking spot that is like heaven on earth. The overall experience was just phenomenal. We loved the restaurant so much, and thanks to Jody, we decided to stay at their hotel instead of going home. Jody also helped us booking the room herself and we couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. We traveled around the world and have been to countless restaurants, THIS, is one worth remembering for a lifetime!More

I got there at 4pm when they opened and was seating promptly. After 6 or 7 minutes of seeing no waitress she finally came over and I ordered a beer which took another 6 or 7 minutes. I could hear her complaining at the servers...station about who knows what. The swordfish was average-no salad was offered nor was bread. Surprise, the bill only took about a minute to appear!! Save your $$ and go else ware.More

I came here with my son and son-in-law for dinner on our first night. My son-in-law picked this place after reviewing their pricey menu online and we were expecting a very good experience. We were sadly disappointed. The service was ok, a little on the...slow side. We ordered the Mussels special, two of the Seafood Chowders, the Planked Whitefish, the Planked Whitefish with Perch, the Mediterranean pasta and one Peanut Butter pie. The Mussel dish had this very subtle underlying taste which none of us liked. Both of the Whitefish dishes and the Mediterranean pasta lacked flavor. All three were Very bland. The star of the evening was the pie. There was nothing that was served at this place that would make us want to come back.More

Stafford's is just an all around good restaurant. A great setting out by the harbor. All the windows are open to give it ventilation and openness. Great service. They do not take reservations so the 8 of use put down our names and walked around...town for about 1 hour. For appetizers, the escargot and calamari were delicious. The main entree Whitefish on the plank was cook perfectly.More

We really love this restaurant! If you want amazing food and great view and exceptional service - then this is your spot! We arrived without a reservation and the hostess was already stopping the waitlist. We were the last to get on and it was...7:30. We had a craft cocktail at the bar while we waited. Then at the table we had a terrific view of the boats. I ordered the tuna steak special. It was cooked wrong but they fixed it so quickly and apologized profusely. We got two desserts for the error. We didn’t feel like it was necessary so we tipped big in the end. Try the brownie ice cream dessert. It has a pretzel thing and very delicious!!!More

I give the Pier a 5/5 for a couple of reasons. They've really stepped up their game...the dining room and Dudley's deck have been renovated and the decor and view ate great. Service has always been good. They seem to have expanded their menu as...well and we've been really happy with their offerings. Good selections for any type of diner... healthy, vegetarian, steaks, escargot, etc etc. Very reliably busy too so go early, go on a not-so-busy night, or go and wait. A walk down the dock to check out the yachts while you wait, or after dinner is always fun!More

We went for lunch. I had the chicken salad plate and my husband had the heirloom tomato BLT. Both were very good but just a little pricey. We sat outside and enjoyed the views!

We were told by area people that this is a popular place to eat. We avoided lunch hours and decided to go a little later just before 2:00PM, even though they serve lunch until 2:30PM (posted), the host would not let us in. We asked...if we can just go for drinks, he said, if there's room available. We asked is there was room, he said he didn't know and we needed to check on it ourself. We left and ate at a different place and found a gem of a place with great food. Maybe a manager needs to make sure his employees are not turning away customers.More

Used to visit the Chart Room downstairs but were told it was used for overflow, so we chose upstairs. Nice view of the marina and water. Had the Morel Bisque which was very good and the Reuben which had Waygu Pastrami which was very good...also. I would order both again in a heartbeat. Prices are above average but worth it if you consider the location. Server was great. Looking forward to a return trip!More

Hi Sally, the outside dining does not take reservations, due to constant weather changes. If you come early enough, there's always plenty of space, For lunch 1130 is when we open. Thanks and we look forward to seeing you
