Despite having good food, the service was horrible. Unfortunately the waitress was overwhelmed by having the entire restaurant to herself and continually made mistakes. Forgot my wine, brought the wrong meal to me, rather than just slowing down and doing it right, she rushed around....Unless they gain more staff, we won’t be back.More
Overall we were pleased with our experience and would gladly go back should we be in Hancock again. We did not have a reservation, which was a mistake because they were very busy; we were only able to get a table because some folks didn't...show. Only two servers were on duty so service was understandably slow, but they clearly were doing their best, apologized for the wait, and were unfailingly cheerful despite the craziness, so we didn't hold it against them. The food was great. We had bread, caesar salad, tomato and basil soup, chicken marsala, and Stephanie's primavera, all of which were delicious. I took off one star because it was clear that most people had reservations, so management should've known to schedule more staff.More
Wow. What a terrible experience. You would think from the photos that this is a four or five-star restaurant. It isn't and I'm not the type of person who will write a negative review unless it is merited. We had a reservation for 6:30p and...were immediately seated. Our dinner finally arrived at 8:15p. We had to ask for it 'to go' because we were so sick of sitting and waiting.
The table behind us had the same experience. Tables waited by the younger female server were seated, served and left before our food was ever served. Our server just kept saying "I don't know... it's coming soon..." but we just waited and waited. Apparently they were 'slammed with carry-out orders' but we only saw two or three people leave with carry-out bags.
At one point I went out to my car and brought in snacks for our table and the table behind us.
The reviews seem to rave about the food, but ours was -terrible-. I had lasagne and it was a mess: 75% cheese and way overcooked noodles. The chicken in our other dinner was also dried out from overcooking and they had way too much garlic in the sauce.
My only hope is that the main chef called in sick on the day we were there, and that this isn't a typical experience.
But to be on the safe side, at least consider ordering carry-out, so you don't spend hours waiting for your food to arrive.More
Enjoyed an amazing dinner here! The Brussels Sprouts!!! To die for!! Spaghetti and Meatballs was delicious and the wine was quite good. Great friendly service. If I lived nearby I would eat here over and over. Very fairly prived
Little expensive for what you get but a fun quaint local place. Gnocchi and cream sauce was great. Pesto was amazing!! And my dish had grilled zucchini’s a side which was amazing. I had the meat ravioli which wasn’t that great. But I had a...lovely glass of wine. And the tomato basil soup was wonderful
Would definitely go again for a nice dinner out.More
Has been one of my wife’s favorite restaurants but we have not been there for a couple of years. It’s just as good as it’s always been. Two of us had spaghetti, one had lasagna and one had ravioli. All were good. Service...was very good, too. The waitress even checked to see if we were ready for our entree as some had not finished their salads. That is rare in our experience. Surprised to learn that they are now doing a Sunday brunch and the menu sounded great. Also the gelato was quite good.More
This is a cute cozy little place we used to like, though I always felt it was a little pricey.
Last time there I was totally turned off. My wife ordered garlic shrimp rigatoni, and it tasted 100% like peanuts. Perhaps the menu mentioned peanuts...as an ingredient, but everything else was totally overpowered. My daughter (then 5) loves spaghetti, but barely touched hers. My smoked salmon linguine was OK, but the garlic bread I ordered for $8.50 turned out to be 1 ordinary-sized slice cut into pieces. It was no better tasting than frozen garlic bread I could buy from a grocery store for 50 cents a slice; I had expected a mini loaf or at least 2 slices for $8.50.
The bill had acceptable tipping suggestions printed on it. Maybe this is really on me, but as a person of limited income I always thought 10% was an acceptable tip for OK but not outstanding service. I guess not.
Worse than that, I was paying cash and the waitress never brought my change back. After waiting a long time I went to the register to break a $20 bill for the tip, and still they did not wake up and give me my change for the food bill. It was not a huge amount so I didn't say anything, but it's hard to understand how that could happen unless the place was really crowded -- which it wasn't. I was confused/embarrassed maybe I had somehow misunderstood the tipping system altogether, but I have always left tips on the table when paying cash for the food.
All in all it was a disappointing and uncomfortable experience.More
Going to make this review short and to the point. Food good, service stinks. Dinner took over 2+ hours for two people. Ordered a glass of wine and two pasta dishes. The only thing that was on time was the check.
