Been coming here for years and years. They have authentic old world Polish food. The menu has changed a little bit, such as the polish plate being downsized, but the food is still amazing and worth the trip to get here. The atmosphere is laid...back and comforting and what I would imagine old world used to be like in the 20's-40's in the Detroit ethnic areas. I love this place and highly recommend it.More

We had the Polish Village Cafe cater a memorial service for 70 people. The food was amazing and there was so much of it that people even took some home. Our guests raved about the food. They were there 15 minutes before their scheduled arrival...and did all the set up with sterno, etc. Thank you! We were able to give our loved one a wonderful send-off.More

Food was not very good. Green beans warmed up right out of the can. I didn’t enjoy the meal. Atmosphere was nice. Some of the Waite staff was nice and friendly some out right rude. I don’t think we’ll be returning.

We were tipped off to this place on a Facebook list of undiscovered gems in Detroit. So on a day trip to Detroit we added this as our lunch spot. So glad we did. From the moment you step in to this place, you are...transported back in time and can imagine seeing your grandfather sitting at the bar. I am sure nothing has changed in this place in a hundred years. It is kind of magical. Then you get to the food. Without being too dramatic, it too was magical. The pierogis were a great start. They are cooked to order in the tiny kitchen that is “manned” by one very hard working Polish lady. You know she is Polish as you hear her speaking the language to several of the servers. Ordered the sampler platter and they all were great. Then we ordered the main dishes. Be careful here because you get a lot of food. We all tried the Cabbage roll and could have stopped there. We all agreed we are coming back just for these beauties. Entrees come with kraut and potato’s, and veggie. Too much!, But all good. I had a Beef roll as my second choice on the platter and could not come close to eating it. My sister had the kielbasa with her dish, it was great. My wife had schnitzel. Compared to the cabbage roll it was lacking, but solid. None of us came close to finishing everything. But we tried. Our server was a gem. Very helpful and funny. She gently admonished me for not ordering a Polish beer. Went with her recommendation (ask for OK beer) and it was perfect. Want to return as soon as possible. Definitely not going to wait another 60 years to get back to Hamtramck. Oh, they do a great carry out business also. There were folks coming in a steady stream to pick up orders. I’m not sure how that one lady in the kitchen does it, but nobody waits long. Geib here and enjoy!More

We called to make a reservation and were told they weren't taking reservations. We went early in the day 4:00ish. When we got there we were told it was an hour wait without a reservation. We asked if we could do a take-out order which...they didn't seem to want to take. After waiting quite a while with no attention, we decided to leave. We had explained to the wait staff what had happened on the phone but they didn't seem to care. We have been going to this restaurant for years and have never been treated this way. We will never, ever go back after the rudest behavior we ever received at a restaurant.More

Dined outside on nicely landscaped patio. Tables spread out, umbrellas at most or shaded by trees. Excellent service and good food at reasonable prices. Interior had old world charm. We will return!

Annually, my grand daughter have a date. We eat dinner at a restaurant of her choosing and the attend a Hilberry production of a Shakespearean play. Last year Alyssa decided she wanted to taste a pirogi. We had a wonderful dinner at the Polish Village...Cafe. Alyssa got her pirogi dinner and I enjoyed breaded pork chops. The experience was especially enjoyable because of the Hamtramck basement site which is "right our of Poland." I recounted to my granddaughter, how when I was a kid , ethnic neighborhoods and concomitant restaurants were everywhere and this was a perfect example of what I experienced and remember so well. I was glad to be able to share with her and now with you.More

Excellent Polish food at great prices. The service was wonderful, the atmosphere felt as if we were in Krakow with the staff conversing with the kitchen in Polish. Potato pancakes, galumki, Goulash, keilbasa, zoupa, all delicious.

A group of 6 of us went out for lunch on a Monday. We didn't have to wait for a table. I got the polish sampler and it was really good. I love the dill pickle soup too. I think the Polish food here is...the best in the area, but I think they raised prices recently? My coworkers and I compared menus and we saw 3 different sets of prices. Service was fast and friendly. They accept cash and paypal, no credit cards. There is no ATM on site. Looking forward to returning soon.More

Stopped in for the first time on a Saturday after a meeting in the area on the recommendation of a family member. I couldn’t decide what to get so I ordered the Polish Plate. It has a little bit of everything. I tried Dill Pickle...soup for the first time, and really liked it. The stuffed cabbage, kielbasa & kraut, and pierogi were delicious. While the food was very good, service was a little slow. I’ll definitely come back again.More

Food was all anticlimactic, for a bustling place we came in with high expectations. But when it came to eating the food lacked flavour and items were over fried. Wouldn’t be rushing back any time soon

Their food is great, the place is always crowded and loud. You can’t sit without bumping into the person behind you.

OMG--if you like Polish food this is a go to destination. Housed in the basement of what looks to be an old home you will find the most incredible food. We have been there many times and everything on the menu will not disappoint. Depending...when you visit you should be prepared to wait. It is small and worth the wait. Cash only. Mike GMore

I am not sure if they take reservations. I was told there was more seating upstairs, but they were lined up outside the door the whole time we were there and there was a long wait. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
