This is a very small, cozy spot with a beautiful view of the AuSable. Food is very good. Trout Hemingway was delicious and perch was also. Reservations are a must but it is a really fun experience. Cost was around 50 for the two of us. The service was friendly and the hot chocolate cake was the best for dessert.

I was staying at the Lodge and decided to dine at their restaurant. Tiny place - you need reservations for dinner. For a place this small they have a pretty extensive menu that includes several salads, fine appetizers, burgers, fish, poultry, steaks, and sandwiches. Lots of dessert offerings, too. I had a small salad - fresh and tasty, followed by... More

We've made it a point to visit GASL at least once a month. Both the lunches and dinners offer the usual and the unique. All expertly prepared. They don't have a bar but will allow wine for a small corkage fee. Appetizers are a must, salads excellent and entrees very filling. Truly outstanding cuisine. Reservations a must for dinner. Very... Fun escape. Quiet lodge along babbling AuSable River. Perch and walleye are excellent. Bring your own wine and enjoy with a very small corkage fee.

We stopped here on our way to Mackinac Island for dinner after a friend highly recommended it recommended that. Unfortunately when we called earlier that day we were unable to get reservations, but decided to stop and see the area anyway and perhaps get a sandwich from the walk up window. So glad we did! They were about an hour... More

We were driving through town on our way back from vacation and stopped in for lunch - this place is fantastic! Could not believe the variety on the menu. The smoked trout chowder was the best chowder we've ever had, and they had over 50 sandwiches to choose from. The Reuben had cheese grilled onto the outside, really crispy and... More

I used Gates Lodge for a 4 hour guided fly fishing trip on the Au Sable. Jordan was just what I needed. I am 63 with some casting experience but limited local knowledge. He really knows his stuff and was patient and friendly. Great conversation and we caught some fish. Highly recommend Jordan. Al Sabin

Stayed here and ate here many times. Specials every day are very good. The menu is somewhat limited, but everything is excellent.
