Fantastic fishing charter and a clean, comfortable room. Great food as well! Nice rooms, a full service fly shop and awesome restaurant! A must stop for the outdoorsman.

A must go for breakfast during your fishing trip in the Grayling area. Always enjoy the food here. Hard to beat the view of the Holy Waters.

Make a reservation especially during fly fishing season! Try and get an early reservation as some dishes disappear. We had lake perch and walleye. Both marvelous. Portions are on the big size so you might want to share a main and add extra sides. Dessert was peach bread pudding with vanilla bean ice cream. All of it was oh so... More

We had a group of twelve people for dinner this week at Gates Lodge. How delightful! We were greeted eagerly by the staff, including the chef! There were appetizers on the table waiting for us and our orders were taken quickly. The lodge is on a beautiful stretch of the AuSable River and the restaurant feeds hungry visitors and fishermen.... More

Gates AuSable Lodge has been a trout fisher's staple for decades, popularized by the late, great Rusty Gates as a can't-miss stop. Since Rusty's death, Josh and Katie Greenberg have been more than worthy successors - the place has never been more accessible, less intimidating, more inviting, and more open to even non-fishermen. In the summer, it's not unusual to... More

We went to Gates for my parents anniversary. All 7 of us really enjoyed our meal. The menu had great variety- ranging from burgers to more expensive entrees. I most certainly will be back many times. Looking forward to grabbing a sandwich and eating it on the river. Reservations are required fro dinner because of the limited seating in the... More

We celebrated my mom's birthday here and it was the first time we had dined here. You are able to bring your own wine and they will uncork it for you which is a nice amenity. Our service was wonderful, it was a cute little picturesque dining room. There aren't a lot of table in here so you'll want to... More

Had a reservation for dinner here and was so disappointed. The food tastes great but the portion is seriously small. No salad with dinner, no soup, just some crackers with jalopeno jelly. Left so hungry still. My dinner was a chicken dish, it came with three very small pieces of chicken (about the size of my thumb) on about a... More

This hidden gem sits on the banks of the beautiful AuSable River. The menu is local and all of the food is made from scratch. The food is mouthwatering and the staff is friendly. The restaurant is small so make reservations well in advance. The also do not have a liquor license, but it is BYOB. If you are in... More

As the pictures show it is a simple place. Nothing wrong with that. However our entrees were no where near what the $$$ would have implied. The view of the river was obscured by the growth and dead branches. The potential was there. Plastic glasses? Really? All the good reviews must be from extended relatives.
