Do make a reservation as Leo's was at capacity on a recent Wednesday night when we celebrated a 70th birthday. It is one of the few times that we have opted for indoor dining since on onslaught of Covid and every precaution was used by the staff and other customers. The tables are spaced apart and the high ceilings offer added assurance. We had drinks in the bar before moving to our table. Our waiter was on his game and made excellent menu recommendations including Great Lakes fish. Our oyster appetizer was beautifully presented and delicious. They have a good selection of wine by the glass their chocolate dessert was worth every calorie . We were looking for a restaurant for a celebration and the reviews here on Trip Advisor made this the obvious choice. Thanks TA.

We enjoyed a great meal and wonderful service at Leo’s. We had the shrimp cocktail and oysters as an appetizer and I had the crab legs for dinner - all were very well executed. My husband had the surf and Turf and the little I tried of that was delicious. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was our pre dinner drinks at the bar. We ordered some type of cucumbers martinis and the glasses were less than half full and had 0 garnish, which made the drink look unfinished and a bit like toilet water if I’m being honest. It tasted good but I expect more at this price point. We switched to wine for dinner and was well.

This was our first time at Leo's. We planned a visit to the Grand Rapids area as a getaway to celebrate a milestone birthday with friends. Based on other reviews, we chose Leo's and were anxious to experience their food. Overall we were happy with the quality and taste of the food. We ordered the scallop appetizer to share and we both thought they were pretty good. I had a wedge salad, and I really enjoyed that. My husband had the lobster bisque and was impressed with the large chunks of lobster he received but felt the bisque was just ok, maybe even a tad watery. We enjoyed our entrees - I had the Shrimp and Crab Risotto and he had the Twin Lobster Tails w/mashed potatoes and vegetables. Both entrees were very tasty. The atmosphere was just right and the staff were very friendly. The one thing that was somewhat of a disappointment was the lack of attention to detail in the service. For the price you pay at a high-end restaurant like Leo's, I would expect a little higher level of service. When we booked the reservation, I told them that it was my husband's birthday. When we arrived at Leo's, unbeknownst to my husband, I spoke to the hostess and told her we were celebrating my husband's 60th birthday and confirmed that they had it noted. She assured me they had it noted and that they had a card for him and that he would be getting a surprise complementary birthday dessert. After we were seated and the waiter introduced himself, he asked if we were there for a special occasion and we told him yes we were celebrating my husband's birthday. There was never any acknowledgment or complementary dessert offered. As we were leaving I mentioned this to the staff at the hostess stand and they offered to get the kitchen to provide something but it was too late for that as we were already leaving. We ordered a nice bottle of wine with dinner. After the initial presentation and pour, the bottle was left on the table with no follow-up from staff during the whole meal. After we paid the bill and the waiter had said goodbye, we had a half bottle of wine left. We had to put the cork back in ourselves and had to ask for a bag to take it with us. I would have just expected a little higher level of service for the prices we were paying. Having said that, we had a very enjoyable evening and would return if we travel to Grand Rapids in the future.

Went to Leo’s for our birthday. The service was excellent but the time it took to get our food was unacceptable (over an hour). Other tables arround us (seated at the same time) recieved their food, ate their food, had dessert and were leaving before our food even arrived. We did ask to talk with a manager which arrived promptly and said the kitchen tonight was backed up. We said it seemed to be backed up for only our table. She then asked what she could do to make it right. For a restaurant of this caliber they should make it right without asking. Needless to say...nothing was done. We have been loyal customers of Leo’s since they opened; however, we both walked out saying it would probably be a long time before we would return.

We have enjoyed many great meals and celebrations over the years at Leo’s. I took my husband a few weeks ago to celebrate his birthday. Many precautions were taken to ensure distancing, space tables, supply hand sanitizers and even temperatures taken before seating. Great! One additional safety measure that could be improved upon is refilling water glasses. The woman who came around to do that lifted each glass by her hand to refill. She went from table to table doing this. Our suggestion would be to either fill it while it sits on the table or supply each table with a full carafe of water so we can refill our own. I had the shrimp and crab risotto - fantastic. My husband had the halibut, which was overcooked and dry. It happens. What shouldn’t happen was that our waiter never checked on us throughout the meal. He was preoccupied and unfriendly- not typical for Leo’s. At this price point, we expect more. We may try Leo’s again, but it will be awhile.

Thank you for taking the time to rate your recent dining experience. We are very disappointed to hear of your experience as this does not uphold our five-star Service Standards. While we are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your Shrimp and Crab Risotto, we are disappointed to hear of your husband's dry halibut. We use only the freshest ingredients, prepared by committed professionals and we try to prepare them in a consistently delicious way, every day. We missed the mark this time and for that, we are truly sorry. We will also take your additional safety recommendation into close consideration as the health and safety of our guests and staff is of top priority. If you would like to speak to our General Manager, we invite you to email bmiller@leosrestaurant.com, as we welcome the opportunity to discuss your recent visit in further detail. We hope you choose to visit us again.

I called ahead to make arrangements to celebrate our wedding anniversary, letting them know in advance. Looking forward to a memorable evening and the great seafood Leo's is known for, I was pleased to have our host greet us by name and wish us a happy anniversary, presenting a hand lettered greeting card. Unfortunately, that was the high point of the evening. Our server was, in a word, uninterested -- in the fact that it was a special occasion (not mentioned until the check was dropped and then just as an off the cuff comment), or in any other aspect of our experience. There was little conversation or attempt to engage us with suggestions or recommendations. Rather, she was merely perfunctory in going through the motions, reaching clumsily across my wife to serve and clear items instead of clearing from the right. The appetizers were fine but went quickly, we waited with nothing else for some time while watching other tables receive a basket of fresh bread and butter. I eventually sought out another server to ask for some, which she did bring, but shortly before our entrees arrived. No effort was made to assist us with selecting a bottle of wine for dinner. I ordered the wine and several minutes later the server came back to show me the list again and ask me to confirm which one I ordered to make sure she got it right ($50 bottle). She did pour our first glass after opening the bottle, but the rest was "PIY" (pour it yourself) as she was absent thereafter. The rest of our bread basket was whisked away, although other servers were packing the bread for their diners to take home. Same issue with our after dinner coffee - no refills until we sought out another server for a second cup. In sum, basically the type of service you'd expect at a sports bar. While the food quality was fine, I can't recommend this place for anyone wanting a truly memorable special occasion meal with the first class service we have enjoyed at comparable places in Grand Rapids and many other cities.

My wife and I went to Leo's last night to celebrate our anniversary because it is such an exquisite four-star restaurant and we were very excited about going. The service was very good however it was slow between courses the food was okay I can honestly say that I can cook better than what I got at Leo's and the presentation was below expectation. Our biggest disappointment however was the dress of the clientele! And Leo's website they say the business casual is preferred however people were coming in with t-shirts and shorts t-shirts hanging out of their pants hats on backward hats on disgusting dress code for a fine dining establishment. For the money that Leo charges you would expect to be seated in an elegant restaurant with nice looking clientele however that was not the case. I don't think I'll be back there for a long time.

We had a great experience for our first time here while staying in Grand Rapids for our anniversary. The waitstaff is professional, the food is served hot and is delicious! My husband had the salmon wrapped scallops with the wedge salad and I had the crab and shrimp risotto (a little salty for my taste) with a caesar salad. No Mojito's , but the wine was good. We had the tiramisu and vanilla bean cheesecake which are awesome! This has the feel of old time upscale and most of the people were dressed business casual to add to that feel. We would come back again!

We dined here for the first time last night. Their website helped us to figure out where to park and Leo’s was literally one floor down from where we parked steps away from the elevator. First appearance was surprisingly elegant but light, airy and inviting. We were seated immediately and had a nice large table next the the window. So bright and cheerful! Our waitress was good but slow, like she’s tired of waiting on people. We all tried a few appetizers and the scallops were the best I’ve ever had. The Escargot was excellent as well. We all tried something different and there were no complaints. My Ahi was an extremely generous portion. The walleye was so fresh we had to wait until the chef could cut it up. My husband loved his chili and sea bass but the rice was a little on the salty side from too much soy sauce. The halibut topped with crab was amazing! We finished with the inside out German chocolate cake. We sat for a bit just to relax and let the food settle and wrap up our conversations. We will definitely return but for special occasions as it’s very pricy. Very. I would definitely recommend Leo’s!

We enjoyed our dinner here but both came away that they were trying to do too much with their fish entrees. We had the Walleye and Lake Superior Whitefish and in retrospect should have ordered the simple versions of them rather than as they were portrayed on the menu. You want these fishes to be the stars of the show - not pretzels, sauces, etc... My favorite was the salmon and corn chowder which was spot on. We had the Duckhorn Merlot which was a bit off for some reason. Will give Leo's another try on our next visit and leverage a different strategy when ordering our dinners.

My wife and I visited Leo’s for a date night dinner. Having never been here we didn’t know what to expect. We knew that their menu was very well rounded with exotic and more common types of fish / seafood. With prices matching your suite and tie establishments, we were hoping for a nice quiet evening filled with fine food and top notch service. Leo’s did not disappoint! I ordered the Mahi Mahi and was blown away by the pairing of mango with it! Simply mouth watering as I type! My wife ordered the Chicken Marsala she was amazed at the flavor and presentation of our meals! Our server Noah, a very respectful young man did an absolutely fantastic job taking care of us. Just a perfect waiter met our needs at the perfect intervals. Answered any and all questions, asked if me suggest pairing certain food and drinks. To Noah, well done sir! Thank you for a memorable evening!

We held a wedding rehearssal dinner at Leo's and were very impressed with the service, set up and food. Booking the event was simple, and even though our contact at the restaurant left during the months of our planning; our service went uninterrupted as Brian M. (manager) assisted us in every way possible. We worked together to create a custom dinner menu, custom drink menu, kids menu and even customized the menu with the bride and groom to be names at the top. We had 40 guests total and Leo's assigned 4 servers for our party. Every dish was wonderfully made and delicious. They were accomodating with special dietary needs such as gluten free and dairy free options. Our entire event was top notch from the moment we walked in the door until we left. Brian was wonderful to work with. Several people in our party from the Grand Rapids area said they would definitely go back for dinner, as would we.

A change in ownership and it is still a perfect spot for a business lunch. The tables are separated enough to have a private conversation. The waitstaff is professional - attentive but not intrusive. Most frequently ordering entree salads for lunch. They are the perfect size.

First time dining at Leo's. I chose this restaurant because of their extensive seafood menu, and I was not disappointed. My husband had oysters as an appetizer, which he loved. He ordered the halibut special with asparagus, and he was very happy. I ordered the bouillabaisse which was filled with delicious lobster, shrimp, crab, mussels and fish. It was the best I've ever had! We enjoyed a lovely bottle of wine, they have an extensive list. Our service was outstanding from everyone we encountered. We will definitely come back!

It had been fifteen months since my wife and I dined out due to Covid and Leo’s was definitely worth the wait. We have tried many restaurants across the state of Michigan and this is the best seafood I have eaten in the state. Had the lobster and shrimp risotto and my wife had the sea bass. Really enjoyed the sea bass flavor combined with the mango salsa. The risotto was perfectly cooked and I could have eaten this dish all night. Also liked the clam chowder, which was served Manhattan style with a tomato base. The seafood duet appetizer with a crab cake and lobster and shrimp cake was less successful. Thought the crab cake onion flavor overwhelmed the crab cake. Found most entrees reasonably priced for a restaurant of this caliber. A nice touch is that you can ride the elevator from the parking garage above the restaurant directly down and never have to go outside. Not a big deal in the summer but a big deal in the typically frigid winter. Biggest downside to this restaurant is the decor. Really generic and bland and starting to look a bit dated. Nothing says you are in Grand Rapids or that this restaurant specializes in fish. Overall, would make the hour drive and come back here again to dine.
