Three couples went at 6:30 PM on a Saturday night. We called in an hour before, as instructed to request call ahead seating, and our table was ready for us when we arrived. We did sit at a long table and there was another party right next to us, it didn’t bother us but something to be aware of if you want more space. Our server was excellent throughout the evening. Everyone enjoyed their beer, tried several different ones. I am not a huge beer drinker but I especially liked the Snow on Monroe. We tried Bori balls, which this restaurant is apparently the only one in the area where you can get them. They had good cilantro flavor and delicious. I had the pork belly tacos as suggested by the couple that were seared next to us. They were awesome, so flavorful. I had them with the mild salsa. The medium was a little too hot for me. A friend enjoyed the shrimp tacos and another one enjoyed the spicy chicken chili. Basically all the food tasted great. The restaurant is a bit loud, but that’s what you expect for this kind of a place.

The City Built is is the location that our son and new to us daughter in law selected for their rehearsal dinner. We arrived into the space and searched for the room which was being provided for us. A room off to the side from the bar and it fit the party perfectly. Food was not yet set up but that provided time for some cocktails before eating. Were had the pork, chicken and roasted garbanzo beans, salsa selections, Cuban rice (delicious by the way!) flour or corn tortillas, and tortilla chips. All was delicious. Staff was pleasant. My husband settled the bill but wasn't really paying attention and unfortunately we were slightly overcharged. However a few days later after the event, he contacted the manager and it was straightened out and a refund will be sent to us. This was a honest mistake and was handled very well by the manager. Was a great facility to have this event at. Would recommend.

Shrimp & Sausage, Yucca Fries & Prague Underground - yummy! The Creole Tomato Sauce is a taste of heaven and the Parmesan Crisp melts in your mouth. The Cassava Root has a better texture than potatoes. Friendly, attentive staff and quick service. I will definitely be back when in Grand Rapids again.

My husband and I had been kayaking on the Grand River out of Canal Park, which is across the street. We were not only soaked from the river, but looked like drowned rats from the sudden downpour that had happened. We were hungry, thirsty, and needed a break before walking the mile back to our hotel. The staff at City Built welcomed us in and waved off my apologies for our appearances. They got us water immediately and the food we ordered came out very quickly. I enjoyed the chicken tinga taco and my husband loved the walking taco. What's important to note here is that you have to place all of your orders at the bar. While staff checked on us, or would bring out water refills, it's clearly marked that you have to place any orders that require money at the bar. My husband and were there for probably a couple of hours, playing board games, enjoying the brews, and drying off. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect spot to stop.

After polishing off a few drinks at the Embassy, my girl was ready for a night out. City is just a short walk away, and off we went. We were greeted quickly and made our way to the bar. The staff was very friendly and explained the gluten-free options for us. My girl scored a scored a pint of the wobley pop and loved it. I had the dry cider. We got a side of the seasoned fries with goat cheese dip. Soooooo good and even gluten-free!

Went for dinner but the kitchen was closed (COVID). Stayed for their beer though. Nice selection of styles in multiple sizes including beer to go. The porters were tasty and nice IPAs too. Friendly service and good prices. I’ll go back for the food because the tacos sounded great.

We stopped in for a beer. The choices were extremely limited. We were served ice water and beer. A manager type lady came by and yelled at my husband for not having a coaster for his water and threw one onto the table. Marginal beer and rude people. We will not return.

This was one of the breweries I visited while in town and it might be the best of them all. I had an IPA and two stout and all of the were really good. Both stouts were very smooth and easy to drink considering the high alcohol content. I only tried the bori balls which were also very tasty. The only downside is that it was a bit of a walk from the rest of the downtown area I was staying but it was definitely worth it. I would visit again when in the area.

My friends and I go skiing in Michigan multiple times in the winter season. On our way we pass through Grand Rapids. We always stop at New Holland Brewery The Knickerbocker because they have a great beer, good food, and great service. On our way back this trip we decided to try something different. We chose City Built Brewing Company. Let me tell you that we will not be going back. Here's why, the menu was very minimal. Not much to choose from at all. Chicken tacos were ok. Nothing special. The beer was descent, not terrible. The big kicker is the Manager that served us for some reason. Maybe short handed staff. Didn't act like he really cared to serve us from the get go. Probably knew we were from out of town. So after we all ordered 1 beer each and food. He never came back to ask us how things were or if we wanted anything else. He even checked on table next to us. We tried getting his attention and he ignored us. One of us had to go across restaurant to let him know we needed service at table. Once he finally came over he asked us what we needed. One of my friends wanted another beer. Our driver and I were done. The server go's I can only serve you guys water. We asked why. He said because he can only serve water. I asked him again even though I didn't want another beer. Why can't you serve us a beer? He said just because. I go you have to have a reason. What is your reason. After asking 3-4 times and him just repeating because. He finally say. Because he feels that we are already intoxicated. Mind you we only had 1 beer each and just came from skiing. I know that wasn't the legitimate reason. It took him a minute to come up with an excuse. This manager seemed like he was stoned or high on something. Like I said, a bad judgement call. Just want to let you all know before you waste your time and money at this mediocre dive brewery. We won't be going back. Can guarantee that!

You can get some unusual tacos here. Close to Embassy Suites. Seating was very confusing and we happened to see a few friends at a table and sat with them instead of trying to navigate the table reservation process.

Had the Into the Fray on tap - one of their hazy IPAs, others were by can only, but interesting selection. We tried the white chicken chili, the chicken tacos and the beef pastelillos (the latter were very good with 2 sauces, and very filling).

This establishment has been on the list to explore for a couple of months. I've been hearing good reports from folks at the day job, so stop we did. We visited mid afternoon, and given it was a college football Saturday, it was busy for a brew pub. Our food focus was on sharable items. The Yuca fries and the tostones were both good. The dip with the tostones had some heat, I appreciate that. We also ordered mussels. They were probably the best dish of the sharables. We also picked a dish with red beans and rice. I don't recall/find this one one the primary menu. The flavor was good, gentle heat, fresh herb. It didn't have many red beans, so that aspect was disappointing. I'm not a big beer drinker, but I did enjoy the Crystal Sesh nice balance of hops, great with the lite meal. My wife really enjoyed the Fenn Valley Pinot Grigio. Throughout the time the staff was very attentive and helpful. I saw they had a side room for small parties, events. Note for the future. Happy we stopped.

Beautiful night for dinner on the patio. I was afraid it would be noisy with the traffic but not a concern. Chips, salsa, tacos, mussel and other entrees rounded out dinner with various beers and ciders; none of which were disappointing. Attentive service.
