We just made our second visit here (from Howell, MI)--only had pie (yummy) at our first visit to Grand Marais a couple of years ago but today we had a very good buffalo burger and meat pie and two slices of cherry pie to go. Our server was prompt and very good. We look forward to coming back! :)

This spot is not on the main drag, which is saying something, since GM is pretty much a one block town. But it's well worth finding, because it is part local gathering spot, part trip back to yesteryear and part great food. All the dishes are prepared with care and attention to detail. Something as ordinary as toast is a... More

This is a step back in time! Everything is special and inviting. The owners are the main people in the restaurant as far as workers. We we were given a sample of one of her homemade still warm cookies! They have a gift section with things you won't find anywhere else. I can hardly wait to go back Labor Day... More

I am all about funky and eclectic, but whoa. This place may have crossed the line. The diner itself is super fun to look at and extremely unique, so we were excited upon entering. We didn't mind the fact that it took a really long time to be seated, the flies buzzing around our food, or even that everyone's food... More

Ate there on Sunday morning. They were terribly understaffed. Took forever to get seated and then was told it would be an hour if we wanted anything from the kitchen. Way over priced but I guess if you are the only place open in town you can charge whatever you want. The waitress was very nice otherwise I'd have rated... More

It was 30 minutes to closing and the cook/owner ran out of beef and asked if I would accept smoked turkey in their multi-layered "Watchman" take on a BLT. It was excellent. The place has a slightly-worn-and-comfortable northern cottage feel. The baker was making meat pies in a back room. Everything was made to order, the egg dishes first, then... More

Small locally owned diner in an old railroad dining car located near the beach with a great view of the bay... Good food, with a set breakfast menu on the board as you go in. I had the Diner breakfast sandwich, two fried eggs, bacon & cheese on toasted bread. Nice portion, reasonability priced. Would try again for lunch to... More

Nestled in this little village on the beach, sits a tiny diner...looking like your typical little 50s style diner..you know, the old train car converted into an eatery. But this one is attached to a cool little shop and offers a very cool little..well.not so little, breakfast. My husband and I both ordered the corned beef hash, which came with... More

If you go in prepared to be there awhile, you won't regret it! If you're on a tight schedule, come back another time. Homemade food, quirky, homey atmosphere. Fair prices. Fresh ingredients . Great gallery next door: Art in Abundance
