But I did. We sat on the patio on a warm day and had a few very cold beers. Great spot right across from MSU for some people watching or whatever. We didn't eat but the food reviews are good and it looked great from what we could see. The staff wasn't so friendly at the beginning but that's the... More

We were told by a friend that The Peanut Barrel was a must when visiting East Lansing. We enjoyed our meal, we visited at dinner time on a weekday. It's a very unique place, full of history and memorabilia, and a fun atmosphere. Dining is inside or outside, we chose inside as the temperatures were quite high! The staff was... More

I stop there periodically to remember my days of a college bar scene. This bar is directly across Michigan State University campus (on Grand River Ave.) in an upscale setting of stores. One of the treats is the very popular patio where you can do the people watching as students and others walk by on the wide sidewalk. In afternoon... More

Food was outstanding, Slawpy & Boarder Burgers, and hotdogs were great tasting. The server seemed like we were a bother from the moment we arrived, we interrupted her texting. We asked about our food status and she said no idea on how much longer, never checked on us to see if our food was ok or not. Luckily it was.... More

We went on a recommendation to eat here while visiting MSU--it is close to campus, very busy (always a good sign of a good restaurant)--but food was just 'ok'. We all tried something different--burgers were very good but the buns were dry. Great service though--loved our wait staff!

I rated Peanut Barrel excellent, not because it is fine dining... it is very casual. Burgers and Beer. Their burgers are wonderful and if you are lucky enough to sit outside, they taste even better! Locals flock to Peanut Barrel once the students leave for the summer!

If you are not paying attention, you might drive right past it. Its dark, mysterious even - unless you are on the front patio - however they have some killer burgers. The olive burger is the favorite for my mother, myself I like the Chicken 'Shroom with Cheddar on Rye. This is an East Lansing Favorite.

What a wonderful setting for lunch on a warm Spring day. My humble opinion of the Peanut Barrel is love it for what it is...a great place, with a great location with food that is lovingly prepared. I have personally watched folks preparing the burgers at the Peanut Barrel hand craft the hamburger patties. They are not frozen...they are fresh.... More

The food is very good. The parking is very bad. Good place for students. Reasonably clean. Price are a little high.

Has not changed in the 25 years I have visited this place except you now cannot throw the peanut shells on the floor and they do charge you for the peanuts. Reliable enough hamburger joint in downtown EL.
