I live in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, so I eat tacos often. If Lupita was in PV it would be in the top 10% of taquerias. Only suggestion is to offer more salsas, maybe a salsa verde

We were in the mood for Mexican food, so we went to Mexican town in search of a different restaurant to go to. We saw Lupita's and decided to try it. Excellent choice. I had a burrito with Barbarco meat and cheese and my husband...ordered the pork quesadillas. Delicious. Reasonable size portions for the money. Friendly waitresses. Quick service. This may become my new go to restaurant for Mexican food.More
They're the best spot I know of in the area. There's no ground beef used in the tacos, which many this far from the border don't realize is THE way to go. Forget the other bigger joints next door. This is a small, cozy spot...that just makes good food.More
As a avid Mexican food lover i stumbled upon this quint little place on accident and have been coming back ever since. Authentic Mexican cuisine at a GREAT price. I love the tacos, fajitas, and tostada's. Cash only so be prepared with money on hand....:)More
A friend of mine lives in this area of Detroit so every time I visit, I try a new Mexican restaurant. After reading from the 4 star+ reviews, I chose Tacqueria Lupita. They had a fairly large menu complete with the usual fare of tacos,...burritos, tostadas, fajitas and specialty meals with quite an assortment of seafood and meat. I ordered 3 tacos: a carnita, a pollo, one al pastor, and a small (but quite large) portion of Pozole soup. All the food was amazing especially the pozole. Mmm. I'm eating it now. So muy bien! There are many eateries in the area which seem to share a central parking lot that had plenty of spaces. The afternoon staff was lovely. Despite the fact that I ordered food to go, they served me chips and salsa while I waited. I'm particular about salsa, and I liked theirs. It was fresh, mild and thin with larger chunks of onion, cilantro and tomato. My only complaint was the interior which was a drab green color with an out dated and dimly lit/broken picture menu (like you find in chinese restaurants) and it smelled of cleaner. Maybe invest in a more natural cleaner that leaves a pleasing scent or no scent at all? I wouldn't want to sit for my meal, but take out is A-okay!More
Not a great option. We had 2 Enchiladas with bean and cheese, which was just okay, had way too much cheese on top for me. The lettuce on my bean tostada was a bit rotten. And was hoping for a more authentic corn tostada instead...of the packaged stuff. The cactus was flavorless despite a slight hint of butter, garlic, onion and cilantro. Their rice is also tasteless as is their refried beans. The bill total was $25.97. It’s much cheaper and better at Mexico City by a landslide at 13.5 and Van Dyke. There was very little special about the food here as a whole. The only thing good here was the guac, that was perfectly made and tasted so yummy. For better Mexican food options go to Mi Pueblo.More
CASH ONLY! We visited for breakfast and had a fantastic meal. Chips and salsa immediately upon arrival, and we ordered the guacamole (definitely recommended, and had plenty of onion!) and a plethora of tacos. Real mexican tacos with tongue, tripe, face, and maw offered here...and were seasoned to perfection. No overcrowding of extra sauces here on each taco, only onions and cilantro and you can add your sauce and salsa to taste. Free street parking, very friendly waitresses and clean bathrooms.More
Wonderful unpretentious and authentic Mexican food, for locals and non locals alike. We were a family of 4 and were seated immediately on a Friday night. Our warm and sweet waitress brought chips and salsas immediately and refilling us. There were sooo many things we...wanted to order! Really excellent and authentic tacos: al pastor, carnitas, carne asada, and only $1.25 when you order 3 or more. The pozole was excellent, as was the horchatas and tamarindo drinks. I actually liked their guacamole, creamy and not too salty. My daughter ordered a kid's quesadilla with carne asada, and when they brought out just a cheese quesadilla, we told them it was fine. Our kind waitress insisted on having another one made for us. This is the kind of restaurant the world needs more of and should treasure- so genuine and unpretentious. For us, I know it was one of the more memorable meals in Detroit.More
This place was recommended by colleagues who used to live in Detroit. It was easy to find and there was plenty of parking in the area. The restaurant is small and not at all flash. The menu is not huge but is authentic and consists...of more than Europeanised nachos etc. The salsa and corn chips on arrival were great but let down by guacamole the consistency of water with no taste. I know the eating of corn chips and guacamole is not traditional but if you are going to do it do it well. That was the only downside to the meal. The tacos were superb and I would go again for the napoles rancheros. We accidentally left things on our table and did not realise until the next day, I rang the restaurant, they had our things and the staff would not take a tip when we collected them. This place is simple and serves good quality unfussy Mexican food. A definite highlight of our trip. For those that want it, it should be noted that they do not serve any alcohol.More
For a Mexican living in the area, finding good, truly Mexican tacos in Michigan is normally a challenge. How many times have you googled "best tacos near me" only to see Taco Bell come up in the results? Well, head to Mexican town in Detroit,...near the bridge to Canada, and order some Pastor and Carnitas tacos at Taqueria Lupita. These are perhaps the best tacos in the region.More
We loved everything we ate here but the tacos al pastor are especially delicious. We loved the three salsa brought immediately to the table. The decor is dated and the atmosphere very casual, but the food is so great, very filling, and the service is...friendly. If you're in the mood for authentic Mexican food, definitely make a point to eat here.More
Many tourist like to go to the other restaurants that are height. This is real authentic tasty inexpensive Mexican food. The waitstaff is really helpful. Sometimes the service is a bit slow. But it's worth the wait
This simple Mexican restaurant is the real deal. Nothing fancy, just real Mexican food in a friendly setting.
Never heard of this place. Went on the recommendation of a local Mexican Bakery owner. So glad we did. Cash only and no bar (serves beer in a can) but the food was amazing and authentic Mexican....not American Mexican.
Taqueria Lupita has, hands down, the best tacos in Detroit. I never miss going there when I'M in range.3 tacos for $3.75...Fugetaboutit. It should be mentioned though that they are cash only but it never slowed me down. They also have a full menu of...Mexican favorites but never "dumb down" the food for Anglo tastes!More
