Went to celebrate my sons birthday and were greeted extremely rudely. The manager was actually very aggressive and rude. Definitely someone who does not understand he is in the customer service industry. I would not recommend and will avoid like the plague!!

Selden Standard has always been a stalwart class act. One of my top 3 restaurants in the area. We avoid seed oils at home, and I always add a note to all my reservations that we "prefer to avoid seed oils." Not ONE restaurant has...ever asked about this until tonight. Kudos to Selden Standard and our server on a VERY busy night. She talked with the chef and brought back a menu that could be modified to avoid seed oils. (See pic). The food and service were outstanding, as always. Do NOT miss Chef Andy's pastas.More

On a recent trip to my hometown of Detroit had dinner with my sister and her husband. I chose the restaurant from a thorough web search and Selden Standard turned out to be the perfect pick. Everything clicked: the friendly, knowledgable service, the inviting atmosphere,...and the thoughtfully prepared, delicious menu. There wasn't a thing we ordered that wasn't delicious. Per our server's suggestion, we picked 5-6 dishes to share. We decided each of us should order a couple of items we were most into trying. I went with the squid ink rigatoni and for the fried green tomatoes—both completely lovely. My sister chose a broccoli appetizer that was very tasty (and trust me, I'm not even into broccoli) & the grilled chicken with white BBQ. Bro-in-law got the steak and an order of roasted mushrooms. Everything was successful, I have no complaints about anything. For the rest of my trip I was recommending this place to anyone who would listen; I often got responses along the lines of , "I know, isn't it great!?" Selden was easily the culinary highlight of my trip. I'm eager to return and will plan on it next time I visit.More

I did not eat here for lunch because they are only open from 5pm-10pm daily. Why list this as the second best lunch spot in Detroit when only open for Dinner?

We had reservations for a Monday night which meant the restaurant was very busy. Nevertheless, our table was ready. But, we started at the bar which has excellently trained bartenders. Great selection of gins and bourbons. Dinner: G had hake w/ clams and salsa verde....V had pappardelle w/ lamb ragu. We shared an excellent green salad. Wine selections were varied and moderatley priced. If you are in Detroit (a very "happening place," don't miss this restaurant.More

Selden Standard was an excellent venue for my dinner program. The room accommodated 30+ people, the AV setup they provided worked well, and the service was faultless (thank you, Kayla and Michelle.) They served multiple courses comprised of excellent dishes: best food I've ever had...in an event setting.More

Great dining experience on a cold Spring evening. We each had two dishes and we were so full we didn’t want dessert (darn it). I enjoyed the roasted parsnips and the amazing celery root parmigiana. The parmigiana was one of the best things I’ve ever...eaten. It was crispy and firm with a rich tomato sauce. My husband’s vegetable carpaccio was fresh and interesting, and his grilled lamb was perfectly grilled. Our waitress was informative and friendly; she gave excellent advice and helped make a perfect evening.More

Food and service all excellent. Make sure you reserve a table as this place is popular! The waiter recommends four dishes for a couple -- each dish made to share. We had the spicy salad (very good), rabbit ragu and walleye fish (both excellent), and...the roasted parsnips (spectacular).More

This place is like small plates but larger. They are served family style and passed around so everyone can share the deliciousness. Liana paced the serving so dishes come out one/two or sometimes three at a time. Our party of 4 had Beef Tartare, Warm...Spinach Salad, Roasted Cauliflower, Lemon Chitarra, Rabbit Ragu, Ricotta Agnolotti, Crispy Walleye and the topper of them all Mushroom Rags. Each was better than the first. They kept building on flavor after flavor. This place is a gourmets delight. I can't wait for their outdoor area to open so we can enjoy conversation without yelling. This place is very NOISEY!More

First time visit. We had the waitress pick 8 dishes for sharing and they were perfect. The food was placed on the table 2 at a time with each dish a compliment to the other.
