If all the reviews hadn’t said it was worth the wait, we probably wouldn’t have waited based on its appearance. This diner is small and a lot of the seating is booths for two or at the counter. It took 30 minutes to seat 3...of us on a Saturday morning. Glad we stuck it out! Eggs were cooked perfectly. Grits were delicious. Breakfast meats were fantastic- especially the ham. Best of all were the American fries. And the price was right! Would definitely recommend!More

One of the best breakfast experiences in Detroit. It ain't fancy, but that's not why you come here. The corned beef hash is homemade and the best in town. Hash browns, rye toast, eggs, grits, all the basics done well with prompt friendly service.

It is a small spot and dice next to a motel, yes a motel, trying to keep an open mind, it does after all have 4.5 stars. Started off with the grilled cinnamon roll, chicken skillet with raisin toast, Mexican omelet with turkey sausage, well...done home fries and pancakes. The guy manning the eggs and omelets is fast as lightening, the other guy runs the pancake, home fries and the grilled meats and bacon. The other guy (manager?) puts together the plates. One lady cashes out and the other lady is making coffee as well as putting together the to go order, another guy puts out all of the ingredients and another cleans up and does the dishes. It’s a well oiled machine here and in such a small and tight space too. Our waters and setting were out quick. Order in just as fast. The grilled cinnamon roll came out soon after the order was in. It’s delicious, the top is slightly crunchy from the grill and the icing is decadent and good, the bottom half needed more frosting to make it better. I think it’s best to eat the top and bottom together to distribute the icing on top and bottom pieces, goes down much more smoothly as a result. Eating the bottom alone is dry and lack luster. The side of pancakes that comes with the Mexican omelet are silver dollar sized, they are not bad, not special. My husband found a single short black hair in his eggs on his chicken skillet, he said he was done eating today after finding the hair. It was shown to the waitress and promptly returned and taken off the bill. The cream sauce that comes with the Mexican omelet is very salty and runny and not good. The Mexican omelet is okay. Would be much better with some Cholula sauce or Mexican oriented hot sauce. The overall bill was $17.75. Minus the short black hair in the eggs for the chicken skillet. The pancake, Mexican omelet, raisin toast and home fries were all average. The best part of our meal was the top part of our grilled cinnamon roll.More

Normally, as creatures of habit, my wife and I adhere to a disciplined schedule during our travels from coast to coast. We usually rise early for breakfast, skip lunch while sight-seeing, then cap off a busy day with a luxurious, all-the-trimmings dinner. Which was our...plan on this day in Detroit. We planned for breakfast at the Clique Restaurant, a classic American diner that is open from 7 to 3 and noted for its breakfast fare. Located at 1326 East Jefferson Avenue in the Riverton Inn and Suites, near Ford Field, Belle Isle Park and the Detroit River, it offers a midcentury-modern setting with atrium seating. Alas, we arrived too late for breakfast and opted for the lunch menu. No complaints here. We stumbled into a bonanza of goodies. Love the salads. My wife had a grilled chicken salad with mixed greens, grilled chicken breast, tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, egg and cheese. I had a chef's salad with mixed greens, smoked turkey, baked ham, tomatoes, egg, cucumbers and cheese. Talk about eating healthy. For an entree, my wife chose the beef pot roast with rice and peas. I had the hot meatloaf, a homestyle recipe with potatoes and vegetables. So much for our disciplined schedule. This was worth a change of pace.More

I highly recommend waiting if there is a wait. If you go on a Saturday, be prepared to wait. The food is so good, reasonably priced and plentiful. The silver dollar pancakes come with the egg dishes. The grits have a great consistency and flavor....I can’t say enough good things about this place. Check it out.More

This is a busy little eatery. It is good breakfast foods and I’m guessing popular with the locals. We were staying at the nearby hotel and walked over to try it based on the suggestion of a hotel employee. They were right, it was very...good. I would def eat here again in the future.More

Even though I shouldn’t have had this many fried food items it was good. Everything was seasoned nicely. Eggs were scrambled to perfection. Service was fast even though this spot was packed. I’ve heard about it for so many years and finally decided to stop...in. I enjoyed a booth by myself; it was separated by glass on one side allowing me to dine with my thoughts and not be a bother to anyone. If you’re looking for a really quiet spot this isn’t it; it has all the hustle and bustle of Detroit—business meetings, friends catching up, family fellowship, etc. I enjoyed watching the work and patron dynamics.More

The Clique is one of those fantastic local eateries that you only see on television food shows! The food is so good that there is always a line waiting to get in during the limited hours of business. Make it your business to visit, and...get there early, you'll be glad you did!More

My dad and I stopped in for a late breakfast on a weekday morning. We got there around 10:45 which seemed to be the perfect time. There was no wait when we got there but people were out the door when we left. Our food...was great and you can get a lot of breakfast for $8.More

Good breakfast made behind the counter. Packed but got a seat at the bar. Waitress was keeping up with the crowd. Has to be the best ham I have had with breakfast. Fried eggs and hash browns. Good service. Very nice people at the bar.

Food was good and prices reasonable., staff was friendly and gave great service.the restaurant is connected to a filthy hotel so the entrance was nasty with cigarette butts all around the place. The entire parking lot was nasty and need to be power washed.
