In a word...this dive bar is FUN. We're in our 50's and were not the oldest people on a busy Friday. night enjoying the eclectic mix of tunes dished out by the house band led by Carl. We heard "Jesus Christ Superstar" followed by "You Dropped A Bomb On Me", Don't get pinched up if you see your server throwing back a shot with the table next to you instead of taking your drink order. Don't worry-they will get to you...eventually. Wine pours are generous with a full service bar featuring the required hipster cocktails. Even if you are not a hipster don't be afraid to stop in. You won't regret it. DETROIT IS BACK!

This is a quirky, brasserie with loads of character & super-friendly bartenders. It's hipster meets a part of Paris with a Billie Holliday, bluesy vibe. Looks to be a local spot, most are in for a quick drink. In minimalist fashion, there are 3 signature cocktails on the small card drink menu and 1 food option: the famous White Boy Rick grilled cheese. Just order it. Perfect place for a drink. Steps away from Wright & Co.

This is a great place to meet up, or just hang out with the locals. A gem in the jungle of Detroit. Server..is over the top good. Wish we could of stayed later but since we were on foot had to leave sooner than we wanted.

Several locals recommended this "speakeasy," and I ended up spending over two hours here. The bartender introduced me to several regulars, who gave me great tips about visiting the city. Good live music and interesting ambience.

Loved the history and uniqueness of this bar! It’s very cost and friendly and live music was awesome! Service was a bit slow though which I can understand because it’s busy. Drinks were strong though!

Hanging out here is like listening to Morcheeba's "Just Enjoy the Ride". Smooth, eclectic, humble. Not off the grid and not overcrowded. The right mix of mood and greatness. Love coming here.

If you like grilled cheese and have a strong bladder, d’Mongo’s is for you! Seriously (but I was serious), great people and drinks and entertaining live music makes the place a huge winner. Really local, and the local regulars will immediately know you’re not, but they’re friendly and welcoming nonetheless.

Can't wait to return. The place is small, tightly packed and a bit grungy. Great crowd of all ages out to have a good time, NOISY. The band sounds like a garage band,,,and that's ok. Fun!

This place has been around for a longtime now, since back in the 80´s. This Speak easy is great for those wanting a relaxed atmosphere, a good place to start off your evening.

This is a must stop during a Detroit night out. It's loud, it's different, it's crowded and it's fun. The door lady may be my favorite part. But the random living room furniture that makes up part of the seating is awesome. So are the wall oddities. There are always live bands on the weekends. The drinks always seem strong! Despite being crowded the bartenders are attentive. It's definitely an experience if you're in the grand circus park area!

The service was outstanding, the music couldn't be better and the drinks were the perfect complement for a great atmosphere and classic Detroit feeling. Highly recommended.

This was our last stop of the evening and we will never go back. The older lady at the front door was rude. She did not care if she was turning away business. The bar staff substituted a well liquor for a high-end liquor (and the high-end was requested and paid for), so make sure you know what you are getting. The band, while funny and did socialize with the patrons, they were so out of tune it was difficult to listed too. The service was AWFUL! It took over an hour to order a drink, have it delivered and then we had to go looking for our waiter to get the bill. We will NEVER be back for any reason.
