We chose to celebrate our 14th anniversary at The Whitney last evening. We arrived promptly at 8:00 for our 8:00 dinner reservation. We were advised by the hostess that the tables were taking longer than anticipated, "but checks are being paid now" and we were to wait at the 3rd floor bar. At 9:00, one hour after our reservation, my... More

I went to the Whitney today for an intimate surprise birthday luncheon. They only offer valet parking so my first encounter was an attendant. His greeting was warm, polite and welcoming. My next encounter was with the host. Who welcomed me to the Whitney, and asked what event I was attending. He then lead me to our private room. Before... More

My husband and I visited for our anniversary dinner. We love really great food so we were excited to try this for the first time. Our experience was underwhelming. Food wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. Our server was really nice & sweet. We had dessert upstairs and were really disappointed by the bananas fosters. By the time it... More

If you are travelling to Detroit for business, don't confine yourself to the hotel restaurant assuming there is nothing suitable in the city. The menu is what those on business would expect: ribeye, filet mignon, Norwegian salmon, great sides, luscious desserts (carrot cakes, various chocolate cakes/infections). The wine list is long, interesting, and varied (also by price). The service is... More

We enjoyed a special birthday celebration at the Whitney and enjoyed every minute of it. From the expertly prepared food and drinks, to the professional service, to the ambiance, everything was simply divine. The Whitney prepares classic dishes from a perfectly sized menu and each dish we tasted was delicious. The filet mignon (which is not usually one of our... More

What a wonderful afternoon was had by my party of six at the Whitney! It was formal and fancy without being stuffy or fussy. We had two eight. Year old girls with us who thoroughly enjoyed their "tea party " experience. I am a very picky eater and still had enough to eat. The scones and chantilly cream were delicious!... More

We have been there many times and have always enjoyed eating at the Whitney. Last week we had a wedding shower there for my daughter and it was delicious and what a beautiful brunch buffet. Service was great. We had a private room for 26 people and it was so elegant! Great desserts too.

My wife & I had Sunday brunch here and they put on an amazing spread! The amount and quality of food was unbelievable. The dessert room reminded me of a wedding reception with all the options available. Eric Ford was our waiter and this guy not only knows the food but he knows the house and the surrounding area. He... More

I had a lovely afternoon at the Whitney. High tea begins with a champagne tour at 1 pm. Shortly after being seated the champagne is poured. We visited for a few minutes waiting for others to arrive. We were then directed to bring our champagne and make our way to the third floor where our tour would begin. Our waiter... More

This is a solid place to bring friends and visitors. I have been here many times and the food is always very good. The service is impeccable and professional. The atmosphere is in itself worth the trip. I recommend the Sunday brunch along with a visit to the DIA you will find it a perfect date. The place can be... More
