There is a very limited menu, which is displayed on the wall near the counter. Extremely limited indoor seating consists of a few stools at several counters. Some of the décor appears original. The burger and fish sandwich were very basic, with the prices being...about average for what was received. However, the shake tasted great…one was even ordered to go. Credit cards are not accepted. This place is a well-preserved classic and is worth going out of the way to see and experience.More

My husband had been saying how much he wanted a good Detroit slider, like Telway. I didn't understand what the fuss was, a slider is just a small burger. I was WRONG!! We stopped here on the way to Detroit for a concert last Saturday......We stopped again on our way home Sunday. SOOO good!! Make sure you get their coffee too!More

I recently ate at Telway based on burger reviews in Detroit. I’m glad that I did. Telway is a local burger joint with much history. There is no where to sit. The burgers arrive fast and are tasty. The value is great as burgers only...cost $1.25 making them the best value burger I have had, far better than In-n-Out Burgers which are about 3x the price. Burgers taste like McD’s - it’s a thin burger with a soft bun and a pickle. You may want two. Support the local Detroit economy and have a tasty Telway burger!More

Department of Deliciousness, September 2017 The Department often goes off the beaten path to obtain simple yet classic foods. Telway System has been in business since the 1940s and restaurants do not persist like this unless they are delicious. We visited late in the evening...because we needed late night eats. We sat at 2 of the few stools and were pleasantly advised to do takeout due to the cheaper prices. We obliged and happily walked out with 3 cheeseburgers, fries and 3 fresh donuts for under $10! The burgers were simple - savory meat patties grilled with onions, melted yellow cheese and a soft bun. The first one was eaten without ketchup for evaluation purposes and it was completely satisfactory. Fries were real potatoes - fresh, hot and crispy fried with just the right amount of salt. The restaurant is thoughtful enough to serve Coca Cola which is the only soda (pop) endorsed by the Department. Although the area is rough around the edges, the Department wholly approves of this value restaurant! It will be worth your time and money to visit.More

This is old school Detroit burger place, very small, a little grungy, in a bit of a sketchy neighborhood. Not bad in the daytime. Used to be dozens of similar places all over Detroit area. Like a White Castle, but has its own taste and...gritty personality. Sliders are small real meat patties cooked on a surprisingly small flat top along with onions, thrown onto a steamed bun. Four burgers for $3 ! Cheese a little extra. Order a bagful, but might take a few minutes due to the small cooking area and large orders. Reputation for great coffee. A blast from the past!More

Almost every time I work in Detroit I try to stop at Telway......great sliders, cheap coffee, great fries, tasty donuts and some of the most entertaining fellow customers one could ever hope for. Every visit is an adventure!!
