I dropped in here after a late afternoon Tigers game, looking for something different from the normal Mexican food I’m used to. The food was flavored differently and looked different from what you find at the popular Mexican restaurants, but it was quite enjoyable. There’s nothing fancy here, and I was glad I remembered a little high school Spanish because ordering was not completely smooth, since the waitress spoke limited English. But the menu has English translations, so I ultimately got what I wanted, and I was glad I came to a place that was not pandering to English speakers. This place was on the list of last year’s Southwest Detroit restaurant week.

We came here on a weekday noon for lunch. There were only a few people as lunch hasn't started yet. We didn't have to wait to seat, so we chose a booth. A waitress soon brought over menus for us. We take to wait like 5 minutes for her to come take our order. I ordered the Onion Steak Dinner, which was served with rice, beans and green salad. Instead of the tortillas that came with up, I opted for plantains. I also got a pupusa with cheese, chicken and beans. The pupusa came out first about 15 minutes after I ordered and it was good. Soft and chewy. The steak dinner came out next and it was good! The green salad was fresh. The rice was good, The onion steak was really good though! Perfectly salted and prepared. The plantains were also good. I asked for the spicy mayo to help complement it. We asked for it when our steak dinner was brought out, but our waitress forgot. So, we had to ask for it again. Also, my companion found a piece of hair on one of her plantains. Overall, it was a decent experience. The service was slow and could have been better. The food was good though.

This was my first time having Honduran food. The food was excellent and very affordable. My only complaint is the don't take cards under $10, but we weren't informed until we went to pay.

We had just returned from a trip to Central America and when we learned that there was a restaurant that serves pupusas, the specialty of El Salvador, we had to try it. They have a dinner that includes two pupusas with beans and rice for $8.95. We also had a large serving of sweet fried plantains. Everything was very good and very consistent with what we experienced in Central America. They have some items that are very consistent with authentic Mexican dishes, but many, like the pupusas are unique.
