Stopped for breakfast. What a pleasant surprise. The owners were so welcoming and shared their stories of growing up in Poland. The food was soooo good. I wish we could have sampled more items but we could only eat so much. Highly recommend We loved...everything about this lovely restaurant!More
Wonderful and so delicious. It was the best meal I’ve had in ages. Shrimp and scallops in a garlic cream sauce with rice. If you’re near Cross Village, be sure to eat there. The owner and waitress were both so attentive. We ate on the...outside patio with our dog and they brought her a bowl of water, with ice! Everyone loves their food but they are struggling to make it due to a lack of staff and only open from 9 to 3 on 8/19/21.More
Absolutely delicious breakfast and worth the drive. I had the eggs Benedict on brioche and it was the best I've ever had the breakfast potatoes were perfectly cooked and seasoned. . My kids had the omelette and the french toast and both loved their dishes...as well. The service was impeccable and the food amazing. We will definitely be back.More
We discovered this restaurant four years ago and absolutely loved it! We spent a long weekend in the Cross Village area and had almost every meal here. First night we tried Legs Inn but had no desire to return. Second day we went to Old...World for brunch. It was wonderful so we returned for dinner. Same the next day. And the next. Fast forward to 2021. We were in Mackinaw in April and decided to take the long way home through the Tunnel of Trees. We stopped for lunch in Cross Village and were so happy to find the Old World Cafe open! Thank heavens they survived the pandemic! So many Northern Michigan establishments did not. (At the time we visited they were serving breakfast and lunch only due to staffing. Staffing shortages throughout Northern Michigan are a big issue even now —- so check before you go.) I had the Marche salad and it was wonderful. My husband had a chicken salad sandwich and reported it was very good. The service was as excellent as we remembered it. Inside secret: We stayed at a VRBO during our first trip to Cross Village age. There were photos of the a very well known Michigan rock and roll artist scattered throughout the home. What’s up with that? The waitress told us he lives not too far away and discreetly dines there now and then. He politely signs autographs when asked but keeps a very low profile.More
Unexpected outstanding food! Better than across the street by a long shot. Crepes Mushroom soup Beautiful salad Great kids food
Egg, smoked bacon, roasted potatoes & delicious bread, then I was brought a taste of the best hollandaise sauce ever. My partner said his French Toast was wonderful. The owner & staff of this physically beautiful building could not be more welcoming!! Because of staffing...it is now only open 9- 3. I would really love to eat dinner there in the future because this food was so great! Love Barbara & her staff!!More
Fantastic!!! Beautiful place, food was incredible and the staff was fabulous!! We will keep this on our must return list!❣️
Great food. Very hospitable employees. Had a real feel of Europe. Please stop when near the Tunnel of Trees on the Mackinaw City side. Excellent experience!
We were very happy with our food and their building was awesome to view with many unique paintings. We felt like we were royalty and the food was perfect. The sirloin tips was as tender as could be and the display of the other foods...on the plate was like I had my own personal chef make my meal for me. This restaurant was the best one that I have ever been in and I eat out a lot. This will be the best experience you will get in a restaurant.More
Our family went up north to ride through the Tunnel of Trees and stopped here for breakfast. We were seated by Barb the co-owner and chef and her husband Beau made sure were were happy with our experience. Barbie was our server, she gave us...details about each dish we ordered and we could tell she was proud of the food she served us. The food was AMAZING and the cafe itself was beautifully done. We will make this a family tradition!More
WHAT A FIND! DELICIOUS dishes and a WONDERFUL experience!! So glad we left the Legg’s line to give it a try. Owner and his wife from Poland were awesome and so attentive from moment we arrived. Everything made to order. Restaurant itself was gorgeous. Prices...very reasonable for the quality of the food. I had the Alfredo with chicken breast. The most creamiest I’ve ever tasted. My husband had the beef tips with mushrooms, vegetables and rice. Flavors were so good. We had the cabbage soup with filet minion. It was so filling. Took half of it home and it was just the “cup” size. Would visit here regularly with family and friends if we were local. You won’t regret it!!More
Our server was fun, knowledgeable, and professional. The food was SO good. My husband always puts ketchup on fried potatoes but said these were so good that he couldn't insult them with ketchup. The chef makes the sauces and even the Farmer's cheese in the...crepes. They offered to make something special for me due to dietary restrictions, but I found something on the menu that worked for me (and was delicious). Would absolutely eat here again.More
My son had the pancakes, which were absolutely delicious. I ate a bit chink of it myself, and I don't even like pancakes. I ordered the eggs Benedict with hollandaise sauce with a biscuit and bacon and I could not believe how good all the...food was, especially the sauce. On top of that, the atmosphere was pleasant and relaxing. We ate outside but the indoor space is incredibly elegant and clean. I wish it was close to home so I could go back again and again.More
My Aunty said she knew the best place to eat while on a day trip. I would like to thank Barbara and Barb for a fabulous dining experience. My Aunt would not share a taste of her jam. She did I should have followed her...lead. I ordered a panini and was not disappointed. The cream of mushroom soup was amazing. I would go back just for that. The decor was stunning. The staff were wonderful. Fully masked and safe seating. This was worth the money. I loved looking at the paintings and honestly was waiting to see an old world Italian come across the balcony.More
