My sister-in-law and I had dinner here and we were so disappointed. The wait staff and the amount of time for food to arrive was very fast. However both of us ordered Lasagna. For $20.00 per person we got a chunk of Lasagna. Period. No...salad, rolls or garlic bread. Outrageous! Lasagna was fair at best. For under $20.00 I can make lasagna at home, enough to serve 4 people. Will never go back.More

My husband and I went here for our wedding anniversary and had a great experience. We are a bit of a difficult couple between my gluten intolerance and his nut allergy but the restaurant was wonderful with helping us navigate safe options for us. The...only area of improvement I would have would be the speed/service time. However, this might not have felt as long had they not been having A/C issues at the time during a hot evening. Our food was delicious though and portions are huge... I ate another 2 meals off my leftovers I brought home!More

My husband and I arrived at 5 PM tonight. We were the first table seated for the day. Ordered about 15-20 minutes after being seated. We had 1 hour and 30 minutes to spend here assuming that would be enough time. (Babysitter had to leave...at a certain time, hence limited time) It took an hour and 15 minutes after being seated to get our soup out. And then another 30 for our entrees which we had to take to go. Every table was served before us even though when we ordered there was only 2 other tables even seated. It seemed as though the server forgot to put in our order. We understand that there is understaffing and new employees. The issue was not that this happened. We were given with no apology or explanation. Our server just said the kitchen is busy. When we did get our food to go, my vegan bolognese was very disappointing. It would have been great without the beyond sausage but very large hardly cut chunks of sausage was not what I expected. My husbands gnocchi looked like it was missing half the order. Very disappointing experience that could have been rectified with basic customer service.More

I've given a lot of patience and understanding in support of restaurants during the pandemic... but, things are getting back to 'normal' so there really should not be any excuse for such an outdated menu (a year old) and a terrible online ordering system. If...you are in the service industry, getting and keeping customers is your priority, and it starts with a quality website, in my opinion. Their site is incredibly slow to load any of their menu items, and when you do call to order or confirm an order, it's just as bad! But, we were considering this restaurant to be the place for our family get together dinner, so this was a 'trial run' of sorts. Ordered the brie appetizer, but then found out we would not be getting this as it was described on the menu. They offered us just cheese chunks with crackers, so we passed. The caesar salads were nothing special. Small and like every other salad that I've had. We decided to try a few entrees so that we would get a wide range of what they could possibly offer as a customized menu for us... also not always what was shown online. We asked for their signature dish, Prosecco Chicken, and this was awful. I think it was just a chicken breast with chicken broth and a few veggies tossed in it. Also tried the lasagna and gnocchi, both were just bland as they could be. We ended up getting the wrong sauce added to the gnocchi, so we couldn't try the pesto cream like we wanted to. Overall, it was a very expensive test drive of this place. No bread service with the entrees, either. Needless to say, they failed. We are taking our business for the large party dinner to somewhere else. How this place is rated so highly, I have no idea. We had really high hopes for the Chef Jenna story that we kept hearing about. My advice would be to hire a new kitchen staff, hostess/order taker and website developer.More

We have eaten at Amore numerous times over the years, and pretty much for every birthday and anniversary. We also did take-out several times during the pandemic. Up until our last visit I have always rated them highly. Every in-person visit (pre-COVID) we ordered the...Chef's Tasting Menu. It was a little pricey, but amazing because you get a small sample of 5 items. They have just increased the price to almost double. It is now $60. We asked in disbelief how they were charging that much now and were told the portions are bigger and it's a "special" menu, not just select options from the main menu, which is what it's been in the past. They said it can easily feed two people. So great, that's a somewhat reasonable price for two full meals, but the catch. . . you aren't allowed to share it. The hostess told us if we share the meal we will be charged for two of them. So what good does a two person meal do me if two people can't eat it?! You also couldn't find out about the price change without going there or being able to look on Facebook. As usual their website is very outdated and the main page has the Winter Menu 2020 on it. I'm very sad to say that after 5 years we will be finding a new special occasion restaurant.More

If this establishment's food and their service is anything like their customer rapport, they've failed miserably. ATI recently instituted a new reservation procedure through a different telephone number. When you call the restaurant the hostess implores you to use it by texting your number. But...when you call an automated voice greeting tells you to leave a voice message. Having read several complaints from customers not receiving confirmation for their reservations, we decided to email as well as send a PM through their Facebook page and inquire why we, too, have not gotten a confirmation. In both messages, we gave details about our reservations. What followed was something you couldn't make up. The proprietor replied to our PM and asked if we used the correct reservation number (616 460-3086). We told her we indeed had. She apologized and said the hostess would call me at 3pm. No call. I checked my FB and saw the hostess instead used the PM to find out more information. She asked me to send it again. I repeated that their system when prompted by an auto voice greeting doesn't allow for texting only voice messages. "Auto voice?", she replied. In the interim during this messaging, we asked why she herself cannot make the reservation at the present time. No response. Again, she told me to call and text. Okay, we did as she told. We called and the woman answered the phone! I asked if this were the reservation number and she said it was and it needed to be texted. "How would that be possible if you just answered the phone yourself?", I queried. Frustrated with the bizarre scenario and Amore's horrid lack of customer courtesy from her response, we hung up. All this nonsense and convolution to make a reserve a table two weeks in advance is beyond the pale. That these people would implement an apparatus that they themselves have no idea how to operate defies words. We did hear back from someone representing the Amore and in a "not a way to handle a bad situation badly" they blamed the people for not understanding. They poor practice communication skills.More

Have not been here in a while because of this crud, but we visited this week and were overjoyed (OK, maybe that is a little strong) that is is as good as ever; After a little mix-up because they did not have out reservation (problem...with their web site and the number on it), we were seated and were pleased that the limited menu fir out tastes perfectly. We were served by the bartender, as they got slammed and were not quite ready for it, but it did not affect our experience. We had the stuffed mushroom and bruschetta for appetizer, both had the lasagna soup and the mozzarella and pepper salad, the short rib and the lobster ravioli and we both had the truffles (to die for) for dessert. Except for the bruschetta (it wasn't bad, it was just not exceptional - a little bland), everything was perfect. In fact the braised short ribs were just too good. If you have been there, then you have invariably met Jenna, half of the terrific duo that runs this place. She is an authentic character and entertaining always. Well, on this night, she functioned in about every role there is in the place, as, as I said, they were really busy for a Tuesday night. I did not see any patron get less that excellent service. No, this is a fairly expensive place, but is it always worth it. It and the Chop House are favs in town. And Jenna is always an added benefit of dining here.More

When you want something special, this is the place! Yummy Italian cuisine and a generous community spirit! You can have a wonderful 5 course meal and enjoy doing so knowing that owner gives back to the community.

We had a very enjoyable evening here. We were able to sit on the patio on a pleasant early fall evening. The wait staff did a superb job taking care of us. Plenty of water to start with, an admirable wine selection, and excellent food...recommendations. Even a visit by the Chef Jenna made for a pleasant start of our experience. The lasagna was huge and excellent, the special lobster stuffed ravioli was delicious! The rosemary bread was a great addition to the meal. So much food we had to have take away boxes for another meal later. We cannot wait to go back for another meal!More

After enjoying excellent take out from Amore at least once a week for a few months, we learned to our delight that Jenna (the owner) had opened up the restaurant again. With our friends we had a lovely evening on the outside patio. The hostess...& waitress were superb, the drinks just right & the ambience with soft music super enjoyable. Jenna came by several times to greet the customers personally. As always, the salads were splendid, the mahi with saffron sauce & spiced zucchini were delicious, the rabbit was good & the tiramisu heavenly. Sorry to say it, but avoid the amatriciana — a pile of spaghetti marinara without meat sauce. Couldn’t find the pancetta it was supposed to contain.More

We grabbed takeout from here tonight during the pandemic. This place is amazing. Worth the 25 minute drive. Extremely reasonable prices and great sized portions. Probably some of the most flavorful food we have had in a while. This is a new favorite.

I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. I have ate there MANY times and have used them for catering a graduation party. I can't say enough good things about this place. While I LOVE the entire menu, my favorite is the aranccini. I...love everything about this place. I always look forward to the next meal there. They also have an amazing outside patio!! That is pretty rare in Grand Rapids, and SO much appreciated with our limited warm weather. Chef Jenna is amazing. Not only as a chef but her community involvement. She has won numerous awards for so many things. I can't even begin to name them all. I will end this unorganized review, because I could go no for hours. I won't.More

Omg it has been a while since I have been at Amore and this local gem never disappoints! So authentic and different Mediterranean and Italian food than you will find at some ahem....chain restaurants....no salad and breadsticks here - just authentic home cooked Italian like...grandma used to make! I have eaten here several times but never ordered the lasagna...well look at this mountain of meat and pasta. THIRTEEN LAYERS OF PASTA MEAT CHEESE AND SAUCE!! 13 layers the waitress told me...yeah it’s bigger actually than it looks! The Arancini is a local favorite too...another homemade dish I have been told! I did not taste my daughters pizza but she looked full...I had those 13 layers of lasagna to deal with...need I say more. Not many places do the nice touches anymore...but AMORE DRIPS IN CLASS. A bread basket with olive dipping oil and an after dinner shot for adults and a taste of dessert are usual extras that get added in.More

I went there as part of a large group for Valentine's Day so we had a family style dinner. The manicotti was excellent and my favorite dish by far. You can tell that the pasta is made from scratch, melts in your mouth. The veggie...lasagna was also great. The salads were just okay, could use some flavorful ingredients. I did not like the potatoes at all, they had an odd almost chemical like taste. The chicken marsala could have been really good but was overcooked, so pretty dry. I was delighted by the vodka meatballs, tender with a fabulous gravy-like sauce. The zucchini was seasoned well but I was too full to eat much of it. I'm not a fan of mushrooms in general but the stuffed mushrooms looked so good, I had to try them. The sausage stuffing was incredibly flavorful. I didn't like the mushroom because of the texture but was in no way because of the preparation, it was my dislike of mushrooms. We also had cheese stuffed fried fritters which were crisp on the outside, warm and gooey inside. Now for dessert, wow! Beautifully presented, decadently rich and delicious! I also tried their drink special - a creme brulee martini with a sugar candy on top complete with glitter! An absolute piece of art! I appreciated that the owner (who looks like a super cool woman) was so engaged with her patrons. The restaurant is tastefully decorated with a family feel. There are many photos of the owner with various diners, some of which are celebrities. The front room has live piano music. It was overall a lovely dinner.More

Walking into Amore is like walking back in time. I wouldn't have been surprised to see Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin sitting at a table! The atmosphere was relaxed and yet there was a lot going on. Chef Jenna walks the dining room talking to...her guests. There is plenty of waitstaff and they are eager to please and know the menu well! Our server Caitlyn had some wonderful recommendations. We were there celebrating, my husband had the del monico steak and I had the risotto with lobster. The steak you could have cut with a butter knife ad my 2 tails of lobster was melt in your mouth deliciousness! The desserts look wonderful, however neither of us had room. But we did not pass on their house-made Limoncello or Cioccolacello and make sure you don't either! Both are the perfect after dinner drink. Make sure you make reservations, Amore is busy all the time!More
