There is a doughnut shop and bakery in Clare, Michigan that has been in constant operation since 1896. This foundation business was within weeks of closing when the members of the Clare Police Department came to the rescue. All of them. That's right, all nine members of the local police department banded together to save this historic business.Dubbed "Cops and Doughnuts," the business boasts handmade confections of all types. Join us for a warm fresh doughnut and a steaming cup of Cops Coffee while you enjoy the police decor and friendly, and very safe, atmosphere. Come and see the new store in Clare that everyone is talking about.Since opening as Cops & Doughnuts our business has expanded in to other adjoining store fronts allowing us to ad the "Cop Shop" our apparel and souvenir shop. And the "Traffic Stop Diner" featuring many American Diner favorites.

This is not just a donut shop! They have a large variety of pastries. This was our first time at the store and I was amazed at the variety. Everything looked so good. I wanted to buy more, but we had just eaten breakfast 30 minutes prior. We purchased six “squealers” to go. It is a long raised dough donut... More

We look forward to visiting Cops and Doughnuts each time we are in the area to visit family. We love the caramel nut cinnamon rolls and the chili is great too! Wish we had a Cops and Doughnuts in Oregon!

Had been wanting to go all summer and finally went with my motorcycle group this fall. What a great place to visit! There were so many different kinds of donuts I didn't know where to begin! And it's not just donuts they sell, everything they make is made from scratch! They have different baked goods, their own brand of coffee,... More

I had been in the car for 8 hours and was reluctant to go out of my way to stop, but I'm glad I did. Their portion sizes are incomparable. Large doughnuts, cookies, and too many other bakery goods to list. Their doughnuts are not the best I've ever had, but they give the competition a run for their money.... More

Cops and Doughnuts simply has the best doughnuts I've ever tasted. Add to that the decor and friendliness of the staff and it is a must stop in Clare. In fact, people come to Clare just to go to this cafe. I have not had their cafe sandwiches, only the doughnuts, but the doughnuts are always fresh and delicious. Highly... More

A very unique bakery with a great story. A bakery going out of business and then revived and purchased by cops. A great story!! Support our men and women in blue.

The signs advertising Cops & Doughnuts Bakery reach far and wide. We wondered if it would be worth the stop, and are happy to say it certainly was! The bakery here is very good. The doughnuts had substance, were tender, and flavorful. The favorite for us was the Monster Cookie, recommended by the staff. The apple fritter we purchased was... More

Cops and Doughnuts has excellent baked goods, sweets, sandwiches. They have their own line of coffees, tshirts and gear. I recommend lunch there. The "Cop Salad Sandwich" is good.
