Good pizza and other dishes

Obviously a staple of a pizzeria is the pizza, and one should be measured by such. Pizza here was very good! Toppings, dough, sauce is all good. We also had the calzone and it was good, just a little more dough and a little less cheese than I would like. Typical beer and drinks available. Very small bar normally occupied by locals that know the staff. Somewhat smaller venue inside so not easy for large parties. Say they take reservations, but not really. Older looking interior, but like an old-school pizzeria. Large and open parking lot, restaurant sits a little away by itself so not within walking distance of other points of interest. Conveniently located though. Well-priced.

Best pizza in Town

We have been going there at least 28 years.My adult kids still pick this place to meet for family dinners.(with my young grandkids too) The staff very friendly . Pizza awesome. Thompsons is a big supporter of all fundraising in Chelsea and they have been for years they give back to Chelsea community. We miss going to dine in so recently did a carry out. Must support local during this time and always

Be prepared for slow service

When we arrived we saw a pickup line wrapped all the way around the parking lot. We waited about fifteen minutes for a table, and it took 60 minutes for our food to come out. The pizza was delicious! I would definitely want to enjoy the pizza again if I was in the area. I’m not so sure on the waiting part though. The server was very sweet!

Life Is Too Short...For Thompson's Pizza

Thompson's Pizza is great if you don't mind speed redialing for 30 minutes to place your order, then getting placed on hold...forever, until you have to start redialing again. Horrible customer service. Obtuse management. You'll also fall in love with Thompson's if you like having your pizzas given away to other customers. This happened to us three times in 2020. No more! One star seems like an act of generosity in this case.

The manager there was really nice and understanding. Even though I was really flustered she handled the situation extremely well with how busy it was and she should have a five star review. Unfortunately, the service is another matter. We arrived a little before 6:30 and walked to the outdoor seating. A waitress told us no seats were available but then one table chimed in that they were about to leave so we waited around while they finished paying. Once they were gone we continued to wait for the table to be bussed. After several minutes the waitress took the check from that table but then walked to another to chat. The table remained uncleaned. It was 7:13 when another guest arrived and the first waitress seated them at the same dirty table we had been waiting 45 minutes for. We never got to sit down to eat and I don’t think we’ll try again.

Once upon a time, in the charming little town of Chelsea (the home of Jeff Daniels and Howdy Holmes), there was a lovely pizzeria called Thompson's. A fairy godmother must have founded this establishment in 1970 because it's only improved in the last 54 years. The staff here is attentive, capable and friendly. Guests are always greeted with a smile and almost immediate service, and many of the guests are obviously "locals," a good indicator of quality. The food, all of it, is absolutely delicious - their pizza rivals any in the state and possibly, the whole USA - their beer and cocktail selections are extensive - and, finally, their deep-fried mushrooms are beyond compare. Honestly, we've never, ever had mushrooms as scrumptious as these. Firm and fresh, and individually hand-dipped in homemade batter, there aren't enough superlatives for these little gems. Even though it's some distance from our home, there are two excellent medical clinics in Chelsea, and my husband and I always book our appointments at the clinics around lunch time. As soon we're done, we make our way to Thompson's and order mushrooms - and more mushrooms. A delightful, scrupulously clean dining room, easy to get to from I-94, and plenty of free parking, Thompson's is a great place to bring your kids, your friends, your workmates, your date, or your grandma. Let Thompson's fairy godmother wave her magic wand over you - and don't forget the mushrooms!

Pretty good thin crust pizza

Pretty good thin crust pizza. My order included sausage and mushrooms. Nice thing about it is that you have the option of having the pizza sliced into squares . . just like my beloved Chicago thin crust pizza is presented.

Love the pizza, salads ( especiall the one with cherries and blue cheese)and tried the boneless wings this time. The staff is always friendly, too. All 5 star!!!

One five star pizza order ... and one three or four star!

Whenever I visit the grandchildren, Thompson’s tops the list. Their super-special party size is one of the best pizza values ever, chock full of tasty toppings. If you want extra zing ask for extra garlic or pepperoni in because it normally comes without that zing. In a ten day visit we ordered twice, a five star Saturday night that was all I wanted it to be and the following Friday night when they seemed short staffed for the takeout dinner trade, the wait was longer and the pizza itself not quite up to their highest. Even on an average night theirs beats the local competition.

FANTASTIC CHEESE BREAD!!!

My wife and I are pizza aficionados. WE LOVE PIZZA! There have only been a couple really what I would consider PERFECT PIZZA and this place is one of them. We were invited by friends to come join them for lunch. As soon as I saw the pizza come out, I thought, "WOW! That looks like real pizza." We tried the cheese bread (which is basically a pizza with cheese, no sauce, and garlic). It was PERFECT! The cheese bread had a nice, crunchy crust (not "cardboard" crunchy but just a great texture to it). It was probably the best cheese bread we have had to date (that's saying a lot). We ordered a 1/2 beef and 1/2 chicken pizza. The sauce was good, toppings were good. We went back the next day just to get some of that fantastic cheese bread. I wanted to try their stuffed cheese bread; so, we ordered that and the regular. NO COMPARISON! The regular is far superior! The stuffed cheese bread is merely a calzone. Way too much bread for us. This is a place that we are definitely be return to next time we are in the area! GREAT JOB!!

Terrible!!

Ordered a medium pepperoni pizza, half order onion rings and half order drummies to go. Website said 25 minutes. We live about 5 minutes away....my husband got there in 12 minutes. Order was already boxed and bagged up. Got home....pizza looked good ( just a little undercooked) opened the onion ring box 4 onion rings in box- $4.99 - opened the drummies box - 3 yes only 3 drummies in box - $5.49! Ridiculous!! Whole roasted chickens at Costco for $4.99..... These prices and quantity are ridicilous!!! Won't go back. You would think restaurants would want people happy in these times...not this one. Contacted them directly but no word back....Terrible customer service. Their only saving grace is the community is so small there are not a lit of dining places if you want to treat your family in these trying times!!

Thompson's is a terrific family owned place that specialize in pizza. Their sauce is delicious, toppings piled high. They have many other choices too for even the pickiest eaters .

We have been to Thompson's numerous times and always go back there for their wonderful pizza!! The best ever!! It's worth the trip to go pick it up or eat there. They also have great salads and blt's!

Best pizza around

This has got to be my favorite pizza place just to get a standard pizza. It's better than any chain or stand alone place I've had anywhere else. Me and my wife get it around once a week. They generally put more toppings on their pizza and don't skimp on cheese. It can get a bit crowded at certain times. The dining area seems a little small, but I feel it is only because the fantastic pizza attracts such a large crowd! Their fried foods are pretty great too. I love their Buffalo Wings and the Pepperjack Cheese cubes, personally. They have other good stuff as well.
