The breakfast here was amazing. The service was both pleasant and efficient. The coffee and water were refilled constantly, and the staff constantly checked on us to see if we needed anything. We had a variety of dishes, including, eggs, waffles, acai bowl, along with all the side dishes of potatoes, bacon, sausage, and toast, and everyone enjoyed their meal. Highly recommend for dining if in the area!

Just a welcoming feeling upon entering; immediate seating and attention. Service was outstanding and serving staff was very attentive. My food was exactly the way I ordered it.
I have been dining at the Rugby Grill frequently before and during pandemic and always felt safe with wonderful service and meals. Feeling is enhanced with restrictions now more open

The burger was soooo good! Beautiful presentation! And what was even better about the burger was the service. I felt so taken care of. My iced tea was never empty and our server was so patient with us while we decided what to order. Highly recommend. Can't wait to go back...now the question would be - order the burger again or try something new?!?

Call me old-fashioned, but when I am paying over $30 for breakfast, I would like my toast done right! The service here was so-so, and the server seemed to be very distracted even though the dining room was not very busy. My omelet was fantastic, but slow to come out. Cold, burnt toast was not fun, and I had to run for a meeting so I did not have time to address the problem. Explore other options.

I had a breakfast business meeting at this Grille, thinking it might be a good restaurant since it's owned by The Townsend Hotel. I ordered a vegetarian omelette and made sure to ask the waiter not to have any meat in it. I remembered this vividly because the waiter joked and asked me if I wanted hot spices on it. I said not this early in the morning. I also ordered potatoes to go with the meal. I took one bite of the omelette and I noticed a strange pink ingredient coming out. I checked it and it was full of bacon inside. I called Mr. Waiter to tell him, and he blamed it on the cook. There were hardly any customers in the restaurant so it was not really busy for this kind of eatery to make this mistake and miss a simple instruction. The waiter apologized and brought me another omelette; it was vegetarian alright but with spinach, which I asked him to exclude. The potatoes and the omelette practically tasted nothing even with lots of salt, pepper, and ketchup. I certainly do not recommend this restaurant.

Based on my last visit to The Rugby Grill, I decided to revisit for a very special occasion.
Notwithstanding the Covid risk, I felt very safe; thermal check at the entrance and everyone masked up.
My bone in ribeye was perfectly seasoned and cooked to my specification. Others in my party had the grilled lamb chops, the whole branzino, and Pappardelle. Beautifully presented and enjoyable.
Desserts were spectacular.
Definitely recommended as a go to destination for special occasions and beyond.

A friend of mine and I popped in here for a quick appetizer as we were both on to different destinations afterward and passing time. The restaurant is in the prestigious Townsend Hotel, so it was no surprise that it was on the very pricey side. However, the menu, food and service were impeccable, too. We ordered the charcuterie board, which was certainly out of the ordinary, which I appreciated. I also got a watermelon gazpacho which was fantastic and unique and hit the spot on a warm summer day. A lovely place to dine, along with a lovely overall experience in a charming town, as long as you don’t mind the pricier side of dining.

I have eaten at the Rugby Grille many times in the past. I recently stayed at the Hotel and had breakfast ,lunch and dinner at the Rugby Grille. Well i must say that the quality and consistency of the food was very good. At breakfast I had oatmeal and a side of pancakes. The pancakes are a must have. At lunch I had the Rugby Burger and fries. My burger was done just the way I ordered it. When it came t dinner I had the Dover sole and I could have eaten two portions it was so good. Another note that made the experience so good was that the service was really impeccable. I really have no complaints.

Top notch fresh food in a comfortable atmosphere. We sat outside for lunch; and had excellent service. They had several salads, a few sandwiches, and a few entrees. Not a wide variety of choices, but everything cooked to perfection with a good mix of ingredients, fresh vegetables or fruit. It was expensive; yet lived up to the price.

This restaurant's ambience is quite peaceful and tranquil. The service is impeccable, as the staff is very attentive and very hospitable - in fact, they provided excellent service! On top of this, the meal was just DELICIOUS!! Everything from the bread, to the salad, to the coffee, to the dessert was just amazing!!! From now on, I will definitely be going to Rugby Grille regularly as well as telling all of my family and friends to do the same. It is now one of my favorite spots in the Metro Detroit area!! The combination of the hospitality, the food, and the ambience made my experience at this restaurant just one-of-kind!! I highly recommend it!!!

The experience my team had at The Townsend Hotel and Rugby Grill was beyond my expectations! Our team flew in from out of town and hosted a filming event to highlight Townsend Hotel on a national show and had a delicious lunch at Rugby Grill. The moment you step foot in front of the Townsend doors, you are greeting with a warm welcome and that feeling carries throughout the luxurious property. Lunch was absolutely delicious! Our time at The Townsend hotel was second to none, and hands down the most excellent experience we've had!

On Set. 19, I brought my 96-yr-old mom here for a drink and hors d'oeuvres. I had sent a note on the online reservation form that we would appreciate a quiet table. The receptionist had knowledge of the request without my saying anything, and immediately showed me three locations she thought would suit. I wish I had gotten her name, for management to commend her. (We arrived at 5:15, which should help you know to whom I refer.) We sat in a booth, and our server, Usama, made our nearly 3-hr (!) visit truly joyful and perfect! Again, management - please take note. We agreed that he was the best waiter either of us have ever had - attentive, fun and funny, and going the extra mile in tailoring our drinks to our (sweet-tooth!) tastes, and making us feel welcome and special. This was likely my mom's final "fancy" outing, and I am so grateful to Usama for making it perfect. Kudos also to the chefs. Our 3 dishes were superb.

My business hosted a media event at the Townsend hotel today. I cannot say enough about the elite client service and red carpet experience that they provided to me, my team members and our guests. These were high profile Michigan business clients and the Townsend did nothing less than impress! - Not to mention the complementary dining experience at the rugby Grill. Pure class.Thank you!

It has been a while since dining here and I missed it. Upon entering the hotel doors and approaching the restaurant something seemed off....and not in a good way. Several staff members were gathered at the hostess' station gossiping. I thought to myself, "..is this the Rugby at the Townsend?"
I asked the hostess, to be seated on the patio and was rudely told "no" due to the weather forecast. Soon thereafter, the restaurant manager gladly walked another party to the patio. hmmm....
I brushed it off and prepared myself to order. The waiter approached but had no jacket. His shirt, like many other team members, was a dingy white and wrinkled. He did the best he could, but it was quickly apparent that he did not have the panache and skills that I am used to having at the Rugby.
I chose the grilled half chicken with root vegetables and a wonderful Bordeaux. It is a meal that I have had previously. When it arrived, it appeared more like a sectioned Cornish game hen that a standard chicken. Wow!! How times have changed.
The restaurant manager walked back and forth several times but never stopped at this table.
Sad to say, but that is not "The Rugby Grill". It is more like the "restaurant" at the Townsend.
Another lost customer.

We went for Christmas Eve dinner and had a very nice time. Juned did an excellent job taking care of us during the meal. The food was good but not great or what I expected. We drove 90 minutes to go there and although I expected more it was a nice brunch.
