Nice place big portions

We booked a dinner with friends (party total 7 people) at 7:30 pm but we were there at 5:30 pm; staff was helpful and found us a nice table inside (outside was hot). Restaurant is nice and well furnished. We tried salmon, pasta with gamberi, appetizers like meatballs and fried calamari (sweet chili), steak; a wide range of the menu. All dishes were good, well presented and portions were more than satisfying. Be careful if you want a desert: the size of a single portion is actually the full cake! In other words if you chose the cheesecake (BTW outside cream but inside ice cream) be prepared to feed the whole party!

Great Service

Haven't been here in a few years but tried it again. Two for dinner on Labor Day. Sat inside and it was not busy except for the bar area in front with loud music. Asked for a booth in the rear and was very happy with the attentiveness of the staff. Zoaran was a fabulous waiter. very personable and professional. Food was good, but expensive. All steaks are labeled "market price". We had the Branzino and the strip steak. Tomato soup and the chopped salad were also enjoyed. Wine prices were outrageous, so we did not imbibe. Dessert menu was impressive, but started at $24 and up, so be prepared. Nice evening but be prepared to pay.

We loved the old 220 so much we could never bare to go to the new one, but years later we gave it a go. First off, we walked in and were hit with such a sterile feeling. The very contemporary style is technically done well, but for us felt cold. Unfortunately we remember such a warm inviting atmosphere in the old place, we are biased. It’s definitely a scene and if you like that you will be pleased. Our server was great! Our food was hit or miss. We ordered a veal dish and chicken parmigiana. The pasta was 5/5, the chicken was a bit tasteless 3/5. My husband didn’t like the way the veal was cooked, fried with a crust, but he thought it was pretty good. Our desert was amazing!!

Don’t make a reservation

Save yourself an embarrassment and DO NOT go to this place!! I had a reservation for 4 people for tonight Saturday March 18, at 9:30 pm. We arrived on time but we were not allowed to go in. The rude bouncer said we won't be able to honor your reservation tonight because we are overbooked. Who's the incompetent manager running this place?! Why is this restaurant on open table when its staff don't honor reservations? I had friends visiting from Chicago and I was very embarrassed because there were no other restaurants available to take us at 10 pm. I even tried to call the restaurant 3 times while standing at its door but no one cared to answer. Ridiculous service If you want a definition for a unorganized establishment it's Merrill 220 in Birmingham MI.

Be careful of their “happy hour”

My friends and I made a reservation specifically to go for their happy hour. Advertised as half off food and drinks from 3-6pm during the week. When we arrived we were sat outside and received a menu with these prices all was great. When we received the bill they charged us full price for everything. When we questioned the prices they reduced the charge of the drinks but not the food and then told us happy hour is only meant for those seated at the bar. Not sure why they would give us those menus and sit us outside then after we explicitly said why we were there!

Disappointing

Rushed experience. We started off great, and the appetizers were pretty good. Sadly, halfway through the starters the mains showed up… the server had no concept of pacing the experience or customer service. I guess it was thoughtful to offer to take our mains back to the kitchen to keep them warm… LOL. $39 branzino under the warmer for 15 mins would have made the brussel sprouts even more dry… Also, burger and fries were well over salted. It’s too bad, because this place used to be awesome. I highly recommend going somewhere else

Feels like being in Paris

This restaurant has outdoor seating and is on a short street in downtown Birmingham. Eating outside on a warm summer night, you’ll see a parade of luxury vehicles. It is a beautiful upscale town and this restaurant is the best one in the town. They have delicious food and great service.

Sloppy service - decent food

Went here for a business meeting after hearing good things about the menu. Service was slow and we also got a completely messed up order once food was brought to our table. The salad with brusselsprouts was dry and it felt like chewing on wood. The salmon was cooked to perfection on the other hand. the lobster rolls were ok - nothing more.

Not a Happy Birthday Dinner:(

The restaurant was not welcoming, seats not comfortable, mirrors very dirty. The food was delightful and delicious. The waitress Jessica was very rude, slow bringing our food, forgetful and had a attitude. Somebody should have called off if they didn't want to work for good tips. Next time I'll order take-out. Everyone else who had a birthday they song Happy Birthday at there table, but mine and I told you 3x, but we get it no worries.

Our 50th Anniversary

A special day. A special night. Couldn't be better. Arranged by our son and daughter. The waiter did everything, except eat our food. The wines were a delight and the steak and salmon were prepared with artistry. He guided us with each entre and the salad was shared by us with dressing aside. Wine, was by the glass and was both red and white and light, semidry and elegant. Our perfect dinner ended the perfect evening. Thank you 220 Merrill for a wonderful 50th.

Good food bad service

We went here to eat on a date night…the food was excellent. The problem is the staff here. We waited 20 min before our server who was busy talking to his friends at another table came over to take our drink order. He set our drinks down and didn’t come back for another 20 min to take our dinner order. Never came to see how or apps or food was. Had to ask the bus boy for ketchup and another drink. The attitude of all staff was horrible. The bathrooms were gross too. Was really excited to try this place. I would of went back for the food but don’t want to deal with the rude staff. Don’t get dressed up for this place either. It looked like a higher end restaurant but you’ll be out of place if you look nice.

High pressure dining

Just left 220 Merrill, where We had a two top had at the bar. It was not busy, but I was promptly informed there was a time limit to our table, so we should order quickly. After two drinks, we ordered an appetizer, where again, we were told we need to order entrees now if we wanted to be able to eat. I have never felt so pressured and insulted. It had been less than an hour, with empty tables and seats surrounding us. We are very disappointed, have been regular customers here. Never have felt so insulted at an establishment.

Blown away!

Omg! Blown away! These guys hosted us for a party of 23 and it was nothing short of on point! It flowed so nicely, even with that many people. The food was incredible... all of it, appetizers, salad, entrees! A lot of our group have the filet and everyone raves about it. I had scallops and loved them. I can’t wait to go back her! Beautiful restaurant. So well done!

Very nice dinner experience with friends

Nice place for anniversary dinner. Spent a very good evening with friends. Attentive service and very tasty food. The starters were awesome: Roasted Oysters, Jumbo Shrimp and Charcuterie Board. For main we had Steaks cooked to the point! - one point less because of noise level, interior not too nice (maybe Covid) and the charge for sides .

Great menu.

This place has an excellent lunch menu. I have not been there for dinner. Nothing to complain about although the noise level is usually high and they insist on playing music in the background which is mainly lost in the melee. Service is excellent.
