I have been a customer of this establishment for 25 years. I planned a retirement party for one of my employees tonight and had an acoustic guitar player and vocalist to sing 3 casual song which was prearranged with the owner. He gave us a...hard time and cut the act off after two songs, NO ONE IN THE BAR COULD HEAR THEM NOT EVEN OUR GROUP. food and staff were great but owner very inflexible. NO NOT PLAN AN EVENT HERE. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.More

Loved this place so much we came back the next day. We visited in the afternoon for quick drinks in between shopping and sat at the back bar where the bartenders were wonderful! Didn't order any food but loved the atmosphere and will return next...time we're in town.More

I had a nice lunch time visit with old friends. The service was very good and it’s just a great atmosphere to talk and catch up. My hamburger was very good as well. Parking is of course very difficult in town so be patient with...that,More

On the day of this visit, it appeared to be self-seating at the exterior dining area located along W. Maple Road. Here, vehicular traffic is somewhat close to the tables. Once seated, there was a fast greeting. The “Cheyenne” was received fairly quickly and prepared...to order…including the bacon. Interior dining areas accessed via the W. Maple Road entrance have an interesting décor, but were not discovered until after lunch.More

This is always a good hang out for some of my Birmingham friends. It’s loud and Roccus, but very animated and entertaining. This used to be a regular spot I would go to, especially in the summertime. They have the patio set out on the...street. This is just a fun Irish bar with average food. It’s always about the beer most of the times were here. I always get the Reuben sandwich when I come here as there isn’t much else on the menu that I would normally eat. My friends always get either the fish and chips, the bread and dip or the potato leek soup or just plain burgers. I think the draw of this place is that it’s just a cool and chilled place to meet up with friends and have some drinks.More

I like Dick O' Dow's, but I want them to be better. The service is always nice, but there is never a sense of urgency. I will continue to go there, but give yourself plenty of time when coming here. They are usually short staffed,...but they need to learn how to pick up the pace. Food decent, drinks are fair for Birmingham.More

Although the food was good, they took forever to bring out some food! Then they brought out some of the dishes and the other people had to wait a long time for theirs to come out. One of our friends was completely forgotten and when...she asked, they told her they didn’t even have what she ordered!!! The waitress should have told her when she ordered. We just shared our meals with her because we were afraid we would have to wait another hour or more for the food to come out. They did graciously give a discount for their lack of service.More

This is a classic pub atmosphere. VERY noisy up front, but oddly detached in the back. Don't let them seat you near the fireplace, it gets quite warm. Food is pub fare, good selection of beers and whiskeys, and friendly wait staff.

We’ve been coming here for family dinners for over a year now and usually we have a nice time. It’s one of the few casual places in Birmingham so we like that once in a while. Today they forgot my daughters pasta but the manager...came over and said she’d get it out and the waitress told us it would be taken off the bill. One thing that has always bothered me is they serve my daughter about 10 large noodles in they charge six dollars for it I find this offensive. They then brought a few more noodles out when my three-year-old who barely eats was still hungry. I can say this is never happened at any restaurant I have ever eaten at where my three-year-old has still been hungry it’s a ridiculously small portion and high price they charge more than Hyde Park for a children’s meal. It came about five minutes later . My husband had ordered his salad with light dressing it was saturated in the lettuce was old and wilted . He could eat the salad they took that off the bill but decided to add back the pasta !? In my opinion a lot more should’ve been taken out of the bill due to her poor experience at the very least the past I shouldn’t of been added back onto the bill. I think the manager was about 22 so I guess we can’t expect much more How classless. Due to this poor judgment on their part we won’t be back there a much better restaurants in Birmingham in a place like that should not be so petty. We spend a lot of money in the city and certainly won’t be spending it here.More

We stopped by Dick O'Dow's for a late lunch recently. We both had a Guinness and shared a fish & chips. The portion was big enough for both of us, and they accomodated my wife by giving her a "little" Guinness, which was all she...wanted. Service, quality of food, and atmosphere were great!More

Good bar food that has an Irish leaning. I had the shepherds pie and it was good with what I think was chuck that had been slow roasted and sprinkled with parmesan cheese. ( see pic) It added a nice crust to the top. I...would eat this again as it reminds me of my mother’s pot roast. The front is old world Irish pub, the back modern and well lit. The outdoor street seating is very nice as well. Service was fast and friendly but I was there at a slow time.More

Wow! After not coming here for a very long time was very pleasantly surprised by the amazing renovation they did to their previously creepy and now totally awesome back room. High ceilings, great bar, high top seating, and a vastly improved cocktail and food menu.

We went to the back of DODs....its a huge space with couches, high tops. Very lively. Enormous beer menu and really good small plates...sliders, hummus, etc. You can enter off the alley in the back. Open air in the summer. Great place to meet for...after work drinks.More
