We stumbled upon this little gem during our road trip This summer. When we first entered we were “greeted” by this grumpy little man who pointed & told us to “go sit over there”. A little put off at first as we weren’t sure why the attitude. After we were given our menus he told us how much he hated these masks we were wearing. We weren’t sure how to take his attitude other than to laugh about it. We were then greeted by our server who was very pleasant & donning a face mask. She proceeded to take our order & hurry on her way. Several times this little grumpy hostess continued to stop by our table & talk a bit more. He was so interesting, I wished he would’ve pulled up a chair. By the end of our visit he offered to guide us back to ironwood a quicker way, also supplied us info on where to see all the waterfalls. We were so surprised as to how awesome this man was compared to how he originally greeted us! The food took a bit but it was sooo worth the wait. Really good food and we got so much entertainment from our host. So impressed that we came back a second night just to see him again and enjoy another fabulous meal. Our food was so delicious, Fresh fish caught right from Lake Superior, And the best pizza we’ve ever had. Being so far from home - this man really touched our family’s hearts. He really was the heart of this little gem hidden on the back roads of Michigan. I cannot give this place enough stars. The entire staff was so friendly and the food was really amazing. We felt like “regulars” by the time we left our second night. If you’re ever near ironwood- DO look this place up. It real is a hidden gem in the middle of nowhere. Much love!

Good fried chicken, not broasted like Joanie’s in Iron Belt but good nonetheless, service a little slow.

We were staying in condo or a mile from us black river so with the high rating so we thought we wanna come here and it turned out to be pretty darn good. I have a four piece chicken dinner of which I had to breast and two thighs that’s all I had left with some kind of tater tots that were delicious a big role 1499 and two dollars extra for a good size salad. Being it was St. Patrick’s Day I had a bottle of rolling rock beer which was green of course. Very friendly ladies here and really not that much of a crowd with four women working still took at least I would say half hour to get her meal . I still still would recommend this place though for sure I just cannot give it a fire star because of the slow service with amount of food and quality was very good and it is more like a bar pub style food then and then fine dining.

A new “best restaurants” on our list.

Having a taste for fried chicken brought us here to try it. We were greeted by a young lady who would be our waitress. A large place, yet cozy with a North Woods cabin feel. We ordered drinks (Old Fashions) which were excellent. The menu showed no fried chicken, but our waitress pointed out that it was a “special” today. A great meal, excellent drinks and attentive waitress. The lady tending bar came to our table to check on the drinks. The owner passed by briefly to see how things were going. A really pleasant dining experience, and a new favorite.

Exactly what we needed

Great drinks, excellent food and a welcoming host. Stopped here after a day of skiing were made to feel right at home - next time we’ll need to come for the fish fry

This place is amazing! The prime rib was amazing and they had delicious homemade cupcakes. The owners are the nicest people! The went out of their way to greet us and make sure that we were taken care of.

Hidden gem! Googled places to eat and this place was listed first. Did not disappoint! Had fried chicken and pizza! Owners were the best!! The refrigerator pickles on the salad were the best! Wish they sold them

Tasty fish, friendly staff

Enjoyed the Friday fish fry and so happy to have the option for grilled. We tried the shrimp, Cajun cod, and the walleye. All were very good. The restaurant was busy and we did not wait long tor a table or our food. Server was friendly and efficient. Will definitely go back.

Attention to detail

You can count on a good burger, pizza, or dessert. The homemade pizza dough is the best, along with their butter buns. Bartenders are gifted and mix a good drink. We have also enjoyed their salads and wraps. Friendly atmosphere!

Excellent Fish Fry!

The place was packed and we had to wait, but the fish fry was very good! Server was nice and we liked the atmosphere. Hope to return next time I'm in town.

Great Place and Great Food

We were told this was a great place to eat and it was. We had the special Fish Fry something new to us. We were seated right away and the server came and asked us want we wanted to drink. While we were deciding what to eat the manager came over to see how we were doing. After awhile he came back and sat down with us for a little while and told us about the history of the pub and how he came to manage it. The food was great, the service was great, and we loved the atmosphere.

Inexpensive Bar

Went with family for dinner for the first time .Burgers were great and drinks were cheap.Try $3 for a gin & tonic. Close to the weekend cabin and will definitely go again.
