Excellent breakfast!

My sister told us about this place, so we gave it a try and were NOT disappointed! The service was friendly and fast, and the food was excellent! I enjoyed a 3-egg omelette and hubby enjoyed the Classic Eggs Benedict. The slices of ham were so large, you couldn't see the muffin underneath. He said the ham was very moist and delicious, not dry like some places serve. Friends enjoyed the Country-Style Eggs Benedict, which had a potato cake rather than a muffin, sausage rather than ham, and sausage gravy, rather than hollandaise sauce.

A small breakfast and lunch joint located in Bellaire. I've meant to try them out for years. Thanks to Front Porch in Ellsworth no longer serving breakfast after 11am we needed a new restaurant to try. They have 2 rooms, 1 with 3 tables and the other has 5 or 6. So a small place. There's some old lunch boxes in the window, hence the name. We went twice the 1st time I got scrambled eggs, kielbasa, and toast ($9). The 2nd time I got Oatmeal ($4.50-sm/$6.50-lg), and toast ($2). Both meals were excellent. Kielbasa for breakfast is fun. The toast while not homemade is excellent. The oatmeal was great, I should have gotten the large. The person I was with got a cheese and onion omelette and toast ($8). It was stated to be very good. The service was very good and served with a smile. Overall a 5 star review. Would I return? Absolutely, next years vacation it will be the #1 brunch spot. Their sandwiches look good too.

Fresh delicious breakfast

Even though the last several reviews have been low for this place because of the waitress, the reviews for the food seemed to be consistently high so we decided to give it a try. We decided that if we walk into the restaurant and someone yells at us, we would just simply leave. While the waitress didn't greet us in a sugary sweet demeanor, I would not consider her mean, perhaps a bit gruff and definitely overwhelmed. The food was amazing and we were so thankful we stayed. Everything tasted so fresh. It was the best breakfast we had during our vacation.

In a crunch for lunch!

Ok, met at the door with some angry and rude waitress instructing me to close the door behind me, even after I told her my husband is right behind me! While deciding what to order, the same woman we could hear gossiping about someone else with 2 sitting at the counter. We couldn’t help from hearing her huffs and puffs because people expected to receive food and it was 1:30, the restaurant I figured out from the heavy dose of beradding wasn’t about to cave. Approx five indivuals tried to be seated and plead their case, but to no avail. Each person received the excuse that their was going to be a party of 10 and it would take way too much time. The whole time we were there finishing as fast as we could chew, sign closed going up and the excuses for non service. This one little older couple took back addl food and drinks to just water, coffee they were told impossible and no food. One piece of crumbled up pie can sprayed before their very eyes. I was exhausted to see this parity of sorts. This was the worse display of passive and aggressive behavior I think I’ve seen. Please refrain going to the lunch box after 1:00pm.

Only serve rudeness!

3-25-23. Only a family of four in the restaurant. My friend and I walked in and were immediately confronted because we had a cup of coffee in our hands. The cups were empty and we totally understood why she confronted us. Told us to have a seat at a small table because she was not opening the other side. Made sure to say she was the only one working. We asked for decaf coffee. Rudely waitress stated, that will be at least 15 minutes to make and proceeded to wait for us to make another decision. I have eaten at the lunchbox a few times throughout the summer and the waitresses are stressed, completely understandable. The tone and the way we were approach is and was unacceptable!NO excuses for the treatment we received on Saturday! We got up and walked out. Never will I step foot into lunch box again!!!!

RUDE RUDE RUDE

If I could leave 0 stars I would. Staff is incredibly rude. I went there with my family for breakfast and we wanted to sit outside. There are two tables outside to which we were told we could not combine due to city rules. We were also told we could not add a chair to the table due to city rules and owner rules. Ok, that's fine. We went inside to see if we needed to place our order inside or if a server would come out. The server (assuming owner's sister) rudely said, "WE'VE ALL HAD OUR SHOTS!" If you have seats outside, let your patrons sit out there and don't be rude. Needless to say we left and will never return.

We will be in bellaire in the last week of august and was expecting to eat breakfast at your establishment but, after reading your reviews I’m a little scared. Is the same overworked waitress still working there? Hopefully you got a new waitress and we will be able to eat at your restaurant

We had visited 5 years ago with our family and had a great experience. Figured we would go back as it was great then. Not anything close to our first experience in 2019. Last week we walked in the door and were greeted by a lady you would have thought someone pissed in her cherrios.. We said we had 11 people and said we didn't mind if we had to be split up. The person that met us at the door told us to chill out and that we would have to be seated separately.... The only chillimg out needed was our greeter. We were seated in a somewhat empty restaurant. As people walked in we noticed the same cheerful denenior from her as she seated customers. Sone walked out after a few min and others you could see their facial expressions as to wondering what the heck was wrong with her. We only stayed because reviews said the food was good. As we heard her tall about others and see how our family was treated I would suggest to avoid this place like the plague. She was nasty to the 4 kids and females in our group. She ony is nice to guys. She's No prize so guys... steer clear.

Good Lunch Options

We had eaten on a prior visit for breakfast. Finding other lunch restaurants closed on Tuesday, we popped into the lunch box. They are still honoring distancing for diners so they have seating spread out in the two dining areas. Our waitress was enthusiastic, new the menu and efficient. Opting to provide social distancing the restaurant looks bit spread out. Our lunches of a BLT and their chicken sandwich special were each very good. The enthusiasm of our waitress added to the fun of our lunch.

We had been there a couple times over the years because there are so few options in Bellaire but we will never be returning. It is very small and there is one waitress who is so rude it’s hard to believe. She has continued to get worse each time we have been in . I felt terrible for the way she treated customers. Likely the only reason this place stays in business is due to the limited options for breakfast. Food is decent but don’t plan on coffee refills. It’s with a 15-20 minute drive to go anywhere but here.

There were 13 of us going for breakfast after a convention. We sat at 3 - 4 top tables. We tried moving a small table at the end to accommodate the extra person. The waitress came out and told us we could not do it, not her rules but it was a rule. I get it. . . fire marshall rules prevent some things but the way it came across was very rude. Also, when we filed in (13 of us. . . ) we received a very nasty look from the person in the kitchen (?) and a shake of the head. After we had the table debacle, we just decided to leave as you could tell we were not welcome in this restaurant.

Great food/ Terrible service

The food was wonderful!!! If you leave hungry that’s a you problem! LOL. The owner or manager with short blonde hair was TERRIBLE!!! She complained about customers in front of other customers! She was aggressive and rude! I heard many customers complaining about the way she was treating them! Good food but definitely will not be back due to the ugly hearted atmosphere!

Great food, Service not so much!

Update: The food is still a solid 5 stars. It's the service and atmosphere that have gone negative. I think we went 3 times this years vacation. The first time they were very busy and they only had 2 waitresses working. The big problem is there were tables available, but they hadn't been cleaned. Of the 2 waitress one of them apparently refuses to clean. She'd stand around doing nothing between handling her tables walking right past dirty tables. The ither lady was trying, but she was very inefficient. She'd clean 1 thing off a table before getting distracted by something else. She'd then talk to a table for a couple of minutes before helping another table, and then 1 more item off the table. We waited almost 30 minutes for an available table. To top it off they have a fridge or something that is buzzing very loudly and is massively annoying. The next time we at least got seated in a few minutes, but there were still dirty tables. The 3rd time we got a different waitress and she was by far the best. The food is still excellent though, so still recommend. Overall the new rating is 3 stars, due to service and atmosphere. If it wasn't for the excellent food it would be a 2 star and an avoid recommendation. That being said I'll most likely be back next year.

Good Breakfast!

Visited twice this weekend while we were in town and both days the food was good along with the service. The only thing that we didn’t like was we weren’t allowed to put a table together because there was 6 of us and their large table was already taken. We were given two excuses and neither made any sense so our two girls had to sit by themselves.

Tastes like a home cooked meal!

The food is good and fulfilling. I ordered the 2 eggs, ham, potatoes, & toast. The potatoes were cooked right and delicious. I meant to try a pancake. The owner (I assume) seems a little snappy, but I’m suspecting it’s just her personality as I watched her interact with others. The other patrons were pleasant. I would try this place again because of the good food.
