Great bar area and very friendly attentive service. Food tasty but much seems to be pre-made. Alcohol is pushed and per glass xan be pricey so be aware. Overall a very fun and atmospheric visit in rhe older rooms...

I arrived in Yarmouth, MA for my first visit to Cape Cod in mid August. When I arrived I looked for a restaurant with good reviews. I found this restaurant on TripAdvisor. It was given a 4.5 star rating out of 5 stars. I then...called to make a dinner reservation but had to wait 3 days to get a decent dinner time. We passed the place several times, while waiting for our reservation day. All of us commented on how pretty it was on the outside. (Especially at night!) Finally, the day of our much anticipated reservation arrived and we could not have been more disappointed in the terrible food served! We started off with 2 blood orange margaritas. They were quite salty! Normally the salt is only on the rim but in this case was infused in the drink. No orange flavoring was to be found. Next, I was served a New England clam chowder which can only be described as congealed mess. It had the consistency of Campbell’s mushroom soup before the additional can of fluid has been added. If it was made by this restaurant, it had obviously been way overcooked and had no discernible clam flavoring. My next course was a so called, “Lazy man’s” lobster. I love lobster. It is a favorite dish of mine. This lobster was overcooked with a horrible fishy aftertaste. It was not the delicious sweet Maine lobster I had been expecting. It was probably not from Maine and I sincerely doubt anyone in this restaurant had anything do with it’s shelling. I can’t believe I was charged extra for this dish because it was not in a shell when served to me! In fact, I wish I had ordered the lobster in the shell. At least I would have known the type of lobster it was! My sister ordered a lobster based pasta dish and while she was able to identify lobster like clumps of meat, she stated it was rubbery & tasteless. Finally, my vegan niece ordered an impossible burger. (The only vegan item on the menu other than salad.) She stated it had a burnt taste. I tried it myself, having never tried this type of burger before. Surprisingly, it was much better than the lobster! I decided to give the Old Yarmouth Inn one more try and ordered the chocolate lava cake for dessert. This has always been a favorite of mine. Normally, it must be ordered at the beginning of the evening if it is to be ready by the time dessert is served. I should have been suspicious when the server told me this was not necessary as they had plenty in the kitchen ready to go. The chocolate lava cake arrived with a bumpy external surface I have never encountered before with particular this dessert. The cake had a burnt taste. It did, however, have the gooey interior one expects from chocolate lava cake. My niece stated, “This is a typical old person’s restaurant” and she felt the food was as she expected it to be. I am simply writing this review because I am shocked by it’s high ratings and feel we were deceived! I find it hard to believe anyone would give the Old Yarmouth Inn anything more than one star. I would give it minus 5 stars if I could. Do not give this restaurant a second thought. I feel a restaurant with a wonderful New England name should have delicious seafood to go with it.More

My wife and I had dinner here during our trip to the cape. Put simply, everything was superb-the service, the atmosphere, and most importantly the food. The lobster bisque and carrot cake alone make a trip here worth it.

Pretty room, great service, very generous drink pour. Downhill from there. Ordinary clam chowder, tasteless fig/marscpone ravioli, uninspired short ribs .

Took my family and son-in-law to dinner. He had never been to New England so really wanted him to experience a place with history. The restaurant was lovely and the food was excellent. He and my hubby order the 2 lb stuffed lobster (stuffed with...shrimp and scallops). Wow, what a presentation and just delicious. I opted for a "smaller" dish and ordered the Lobster Casserole. It came with salad, rice and green beans. My daughters had Filet Mignon and Beef Tips and it was also very good. Shannon was our server and she did a great job. We had made reservations in advance which was very easy to do online. Would highly recommend.More

We couldn’t get reservation for dinner and heard good things about the food so we decided on dinner at the bar. Service was great!!! There were 4 of us and 2 liked meals and 2 didn’t. Bang bang shrimp appetizer was a hit. Pear and...endive salad looked lovely but no flavor - I saw dressing but it just didn’t work. My sister had lobster pappardelle and loved it. My b-I-l had prime rib and loved it. I had carmelized scallops with basil risotto. Scallops were fine but it had strawberry salsa and balsamic glaze over bland risotto. I would skip the salsa unless they made the risotto more savory. Throw in some shallots and salt it. It was a bit strange and didn’t come together as I thought it would. My husband said his salmon was terrible but doesn’t like to speak up so he didn’t tell me until we were in the car. We had crème brûlée and a whipped lemon dessert. Both were great. The lemon dessert was actually really good and I would definitely not share that next time!! There were a lot of folks getting the lemon chicken piccata so that may be the hit dish. I would definitely go back as atmosphere is nice and again great staff just wouldn’t get same dish.More

Such an amazing experience. We stopped in around 5pm with our fingers crossed and no reservation. We got an inside table in their white table cloth dining room. Server was friendly and efficient. They have a 3 course special that runs 4-6pm. It did not...disappoint at the price point. Many first course options from soup to salad. Some with a $3/4 up charge but the house salad was delicious. Main course selections also ran the gambit. We had the sole and seafood casserole. Portions are very generous. Dessert selections also had a nice variety. The bread pudding was yummy as was the key lime pie. There’s a nice wine 🍷 and drink menu too. Seating also available in the bar and outside garden. Management checks in with you as in all outstanding restaurants. We will return. 👍More

Ordered takeout pizza and was very pleased with the meal. Along with a salad and a (scrumptious) cheesecake for dessert, a single pizza would have been enough for two. My only wish would have been for a larger container of salad dressing.
