The staff was good but had trouble getting us a wine list - kept telling us to take a picture of the bar code on the menu but what we needed, and didn't have, was a app to scan the code. Anyways the meal was delicious (Short ribs with mashed potatoes and sauce, Blue cheese salad, chocolate torte) and a very nice wine. Wine always drives up the price so even with the early bird special we still spent $90 pp including two glasses of wine and tip. Nice for a special occasion and I will continue to visit this establishment as the food is outstanding.

Randomly stopped at the Old Yarmouth Inn after a movie. We love the tavern there, and asked if there were seats at the bar. Since it was January 2, the bar was available!
Dani, our bartender/server, was helpful as I was waffling between two Cabernets. She immediately suggested tasting each one so I could make an informed decision. And, I picked the perfect wine to go with my Angus Burger!!
The burger was perfectly cooked to my liking and fabulous. They also have the best Caesar salad which I had as a starter.
Hubster got the caramelized scallops which were beautifully presented (and, delicious, according to him!)
All of the staff are very warm, welcoming and thoughtful! Old Yarmouth Inn is definitely one of our 'go to' restaurants when we're on Cape!!

Thanks for your review and for kicking off 2020 with us at the bar...Dani is the best. Although we change up the menu occasionally- the angus burger and our caesar salads are staples and will be on the menu for your next visit - which we hope will be soon.
Many thanks, Sheila

We had planned to have a large family anniversary celebration at the Old Yarmouth Inn in April 2020, since we had been there on previous occasions and really enjoyed the high quality food and service.
Then COVID-19 hit. Everything was shut down until last weekend and even then it was not easy to have a gathering of 14 people, despite the move to outdoor seating only. So the restaurant worked with us to cater a fabulous celebration, which we picked up at the restaurant and had at our second family's house in Brewster. They even went so far as to cook the Filet Mignon rare and included instructions on how to sear it on the grill to keep it from cooking too much. It worked perfectly! The lobster bisque was exceptional, as was the flour-less chocolate cake and key lime pie desserts.
Stacey, Sheila, and Kyle and the staff worked with us through all the postponements and menu changes tirelessly to make the "displaced" dinner a special experience in spite of the inconveniences caused by the pandemic. A restaurant that will go to this much effort to make the event special deserves special kudos. They really showed how much they care about pleasing their clientele with high quality food and service.

Dined at the Old Yarmouth Inn with a group of people, Saturday night.
We were shown to a big, round table in the big room with the black French Toile wallpaper.
Our server, "Danni" was known to two of our party as they are regular customers, was fast, friendly and sharp. I love that, as we ordered, she made a comment .."good choice," or "that's really good."
They do offer a Prix Fixe choice, which had a great selection of appetizers, entrées and desserts to choose from.
I ordered their Sun Dried Tomato, Goat Cheese & Basil Arancini with roasted red pepper cream sauce fried arugula and Parmesan cheese ribbons which was simply delicious. I've never had anything quite like this!
I had the broiled scallops, shrimp and cod served with Panko topping in a butter sauce, served with fresh green beans which was absolutely fantastic. The seafood was cooked to perfection, seasoned well and very tasty!
For dessert I chose the Warm Apple Crisp. This was a little too sweet, but maybe it was just me. Next time I'll try something different.
Oh, and the bread. I believe it's baked on premises or sourced from a true gourmet bakery. Served warm with a soft, seasoned butter, I couldn't stop taking pieces as the basket was past around our group! The bread alone is worth it!
One of our party has a birthday upcoming on Sept. 22nd, so we asked Danni if she could arrange to have a candle put in her creme brulee. No problem!
When Danni came out with the dish, topped with a single lit birthday candle and started to sing "Happy Birthday," most of the other guests joined in! The honoree was extremely surprised - and very pleased!
This is truly a great place, not only for the historic ambience, but for the fabulous food and excellent service.
BRAVO!

We have visited here 4 times over the past few months, all during one stage or another of COVID. Each time a different meal, each time a different server, seating well spaced during the pandemic. We don’t have a single negative thing to say. All meals have been delicious (special props to the scallops and short ribs!), each server has been excellent. It is our “go-to” place in the area.

My family has been going to Old Yarmouth Inn for years. Our meal last night exceeded expectations. I had called a few weeks ago to add an additional diner to our reservation and the restaurant was very accommodating with this request. Highlights of our meal include: great ambiance and spacing of tables on the patio, Isabel was a wonderful server, great meal (I had the steak tips) which included excellent desserts (apple crisp and chocolate cake).

Had dinner here 9/17/21 with family members traveling from out of state while we visited from out of state too. They take reservations and was easy to find. They offer dining indoors and out. Very quaint old inn. Service was top notch! Though it was a full house it was nice and quiet so we could have good conversation. Asked for a quiet table in my online reservation and it was granted. Food, service and drinks were wonderful and the dinner was at a nice pace. We ordered from the “pre-6” menu and it was a great deal for the money. We selected first course and some had salad and I the clam chowder which was fabulous (and I’m a chowder snob). Entrees in our group was Swordfish, seafood trio and soul. All were delicious. Our dessert selections included creme Brûlée and the flourless chocolate cake.Guests appeared to be an older crowd and that was fine for us. Great place for a romantic dinner or when you just want a quiet and cozy meal. Highly recommend and Would go back again any time.

WE love dining in the tavern section and went to make a reservation on line. Turns out if you have more than 5 in your party reservations are not accepted in that section if your group is more than 5. I called the OYI to see about getting a table for 8 and as we were looking to go there around 4:30 they said fine. A few days later I called back and changed the number to 10. No problem.
Pleased to say that when we arrived they were ready and waiting for us. Leigh was our server and she did a marvelous job of getting drink orders, keeping food orders straight and knowing who had the fixed menu and and who had the regular menu items and then splitting out the orders to separate checks.
My wife and I ordered from the regular menu while most of the group went with the fixed price menu. The lamb dish called to me and the halibut called to my wife. Pricing wasn't all that different from ordering the fixed menu but we didn't get soup or dessert ours. We did order a dessert to share and my FSIL gave me her soup to eat.
They have a very nice selection of wines and people seemed to enjoy what they were drinking. The draft beer system was broken so no draft beers. I did offer to fix it for them but they declined the offer.
We have eaten here several times so we knew that the salads were huge and the dinner portions were generous. Others did not so they were quite full when the entrees were served. Always nice to have take home.
The lamb was fabulous. We don't cook this at home so when I see it on a menu I will often order it. The portion was large and it was cooked to perfection. The same can be said about the halibut. a generous portion and so very well prepared. The rice dish with the halibut was equally flavorful and the polenta with the lamb was divine.
Excellent service, fabulous food, wonderful atmosphere will bring us back again.

My wife and I have been to the Old Yarmouth Inn a few times. Prior times we had a great 5 start experience. This time was disappointing.
I had the lobster pappardelle which was outstanding. My wife ordered the scallops and risotto. First there was a huge mound of risotto and the scallops were all burned. my wife took here first couple of bites and commented how burnt they tasted. Our server Isabella finally came by and we mentioned something too her about my wife's plate.. She asked if we wanted to send them back and my wife said that let her try to eat them but said mention it to the chef as she did not want someone else to have a sub par dish. Well after a few more bites she struggled to eat some more. Our server finally came back and my wife said that the burnt flavor over whelmed her and could not eat them. My wife asked if the server told the chef and she said yes. She offered us to have the chef to make another plate to take home. We said that we lived out of town and that would not work.
Well out comes the check and no price adjustment or comp. We were very disappointed at this point that the chef or manager did not come out to see us.
On our way out we ran into the manager and explained the situation. He said he was not aware of the issue.. He offered us a desert to go. Really!. Well we told him that we had a reservation for the next night and that we cancelled and would not be back. I really don't think he cared.
Up to this point we have had great meals here. We questions why the chef would send out a meal like this and why the server would not tell the manager.
Plenty of other good places to go to. Be careful if you go.

Reservations are mostly unavailable last minute, however, the bar is awesome. Opens at 16:00 and the bar fills up 16:30 to 17:00 when we visited over holiday weekend. We visited 10/9 and had lobster rolls which were pretty good. The sweet potato fries were amazing. Came back 10/10 becausemany places are closed Sunday night and steamed lobster was the best.
What makes the bar special is Joe. He is a master at customer service. Just exceptional: drinks, timing, customer interaction, menu advice. Best service I have had in some time!

our waitress was Isabelle. very friendly, but not sure about her knowledge of the menu. My husband and I asked her if they served a side salad instead of full salad. we always had one when we were there before Covid. She said definitely. we ordered our meal including the salad. Our salad was really good. My husband ordered the haddock with panko, plus 2 jumbo shrimp, asparagus and roasted potato. He always raved about it, but not last evening, fish was dry, vegetables were fine. very disappointed. I had the shucked lobster in casserole, rice and mixed squash, all was good. We enjoyed a bottle of red wine, Alexander Valley. We finished our meal by sharing a creme brulee for dessert, excellent. When we got our bill, we were each charged for a full salad, which the size was not comparable to price. Very upset. We will go back because I believe that every restaurant can have an off night through no fault of their own.

My wife and I took a friend to dinner at Old Yarmouth Inn. Our friend ordered the baked stuffed lobster special that the waitress raved about. What our friend got was not a baked stuffed lobster. The waitress gave a non-sensical explanation. Our friend got a plate with a small casserole dish with lobster meat and a second dish with the seafood stuffing. The waitress called it a “deconstructed” baked stuffed lobster. How absurd.
People say that you also eat with your eyes. When you are expecting the wow factor of a large baked stuffed lobster to be placed in front of you, and then get this visually unattractive presentation, what a huge disappointment!
The waitress took off $5.00 from the price and I paid $64 for this aberration.
Our friend was gracious and said it was ok. I was embarrassed by this experience. This was our friend’s first time at Old YI. I don’t think she will want to go back. We chose Old YI because we have always promoted this to our friends as one of the best restaurants on Cape Cod. The promotions will stop, and I do not expect we will go back any time soon.

We had planned this meal as the "fine dining" spot for our visit to the Cape and it did not disappoint. The service was exceptionally good; the tables were appropriately placed so we could comfortably converse without overhearing others. The whole menu was appealing -- it was hard to decide what to choose. One of us had the Baked Seafood Trio and the other had the Crispy Duck. Both were simply delicious and the portions more than ample; even the side vegetables were special. All in all an ideal restaurant for any occasion.

We enjoyed a romantic dinner at the outdoor dining area they currently have set up. From the service to the incredible food to the interaction with the owner and staff, this was the definition of a perfect night out. It is very evident that the people involved in running and managing this gem of a restaurant are fully engaged and devoted to doing their best.
We look forward to visiting again!

The Old Yarmouth Inn never disappoints! I stop in everything I come to the Cape. The Haddock, Braised Shorts Ribs and Scallops over risotto are some of my favorite dishes. The last two times I went Dani was my server. She is super personable and recommends great wines and dinner selections. I’ll be back next time I’m in town. In fact, I am already booked for Thanksgiving Dinner there!!!
