VIA Italian Table
Review
About
In the beautiful hills of Tuscany, and in the cities and villages that dot the countryside we discovered a simple food paradise which we were eager to bring closer to home. We created VIA to offer you those culinary gems from our visits to Italy in combination with old family recipes, as well as American favorites. VIA captures the rare rustic charm of Italian cooking and dining. Italians love to eat outdoors, so we have created a beautiful four-season patio at VIA, so our guests can dine al fresco whenever possible. VIA is the essence of Italian dining - full of charm and great aromas with our open kitchen, complete with brick-oven bread, baked daily; hearty meats, such as tenderloin, pork and chicken slowly turning and roasting on our spit, and the joys of gelato being created right before your eyes. Like Italy, our inspiration, VIA is a picture of contrasts. The restaurant is both urban and rural, sophisticated and casual, old world and remarkably new. It is a place where singles mingle with families, where private conversations are had among festive celebrations. With this environment and our attention to detail where fresh good foods are concerned, the simple act of dining feels like a joyous occasion. In Italian, VIA means "the way." Come to VIA and enjoy "the way" we embrace our travel memories, our family recipes, and American traditions which are so important to us.

Lunch at VIA was wonderful in every way. We had made reservations because they are running $10 specials for lunch the entire month of January and the secret is out.
Service was exemplary and so was the food and ambience. Everything sparkles!
The $10 special plates were generous, delicious and offered an option for everyone. My husband had the meatball with the lightest and tastiest frittes. I opted for the chicken marsala.
We are both doing dry January and trying to lose the holiday pounds so that was all we had - this time!
It was great to see this institution bustling and the specials were just a love letter to the community. We are so glad to see fine local restaurants like this thriving after the pandemic.
Don't forget to please generously tip your server on the normal, not significantly discounted prices!
We appreciated the generosity and spirit of VIA! Thank you!

Great for those looking to spend some time enjoying good conversations and great food.
Definitely suggest a reservation- this place was packed on a Saturday night. Plenty of parking in the across lot. Via did not disappoint.
The appetizers were amazing and shareable, the soup was delightful, I had the fig and prosciutto flatbread pizza, and it was light and flavorful and big enough to bring leftovers home. Others in my party had the lobster lasagna, the lobster Diablo, chicken, Parmesan, and braised short ribs that fell Apart, and the veal Oso Boca fell off the bone.
Desserts were incredible and big enough to share, thank God because I was stuffed. And they have a full gluten-free/gluten friendly menu.

The food was great, but the server was offensive. He was sarcastic and self promoting. He interrupted us constantly to ask us to hand him plates that he could easily reach. (Of course we would happily hand him things out of reach). When I explained to him that some people in our party didn't want to drink champagne, but would like a small sip for a family toast, he announced loudly to our table of 10 people that he was "Fully aware of how to pour champagne, and had been a waiter for 24 (I believe) years". This type of response made everyone feel uncomfortable. We just wanted a relaxing meal out to celebrate a graduation. I'm not going back.

I've been to Via many times and have never been overly impressed with their food. The ambiance is great as well as the wine selection, however. Last night, my friends and I ordered the grilled Caesar salad, chicken piccata and salmon over parsnip puree. The salad was a non-generous portion and "just OK," but the dressing had the taste, look and consistency of mayonnaise. The chicken piccata portion size was generous, but the chicken was over cooked and the sauce was gloppy and thick, like cornstarch was overly used. My salmon dish was the least favorite. At $33 (yes, $33.00), the salmon was dry, flavorless and sat on an even less flavored pool of parsnip puree. Literally no taste. After requesting lemons, and salting and peppering the salmon, it was barely edible due to the dryness.
This is the last time I'll dine at Via. Such a disappointment and not nearly worth the money spent.

The building itself is great. It looks like a cozy, romantic spot. There were three of us, we got three appetizers, two entrees, and a couple of drinks each. Almost $200! The fried Mozzarella was tasty, but tiny portions and it came out lukewarm. The mussels tasted odd. The veal cheeks came with asparagus, and if had known that, I would have ordered something else.
So the food was insanely expense for middle-rate quality. But the service was on a different level. We spent a lot of time waiting for silverware with food in front of us. They brought out bread and butter, for some reason, after we had finished eating. Long wait times for everything. Wrong drink orders. When I went to the bathroom, I overheard my waiter and the hostess calling one of the customers "a fat bitch" at the hostess stand.
There are too many decent places in worcester to eat to come back to this place.

I go to Via a few times per year and the food is always good. The service is also usually decent. However, tonight, not once but twice a waiter asked to box other diners meals/leftovers while I was still eating—literally fork and knife in hand. We had arrived at 6:30 had cocktails, appetizer and a $170 bottle
of wine and they were literally rushing us out at 8:00 pm. It was incredibly rude and the level of service I would expect at an Applebee’s (not that I would willingly eat at one). When I mentioned this to the manager, all he said was “thank you”—no apology, no mention of providing better training to the waitstaff. Will not go back any time soon as there are many other restaurants concerned with retaining customers at this price point.

Went after TSO concert. Very busy night but attentive staff. Dinner meals for everyone in our party was very good. Pork ossobuco with polenta was fall of the bone tender and tasty. The haddock looked like cod but very good. The asparagus was over cooked and dry. Via's Crepe cake was superb

My friends and our spouses meet here in December to celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah and friendship each December, and it’s never disappointed anyone. We come from Brookline, Hingham, Westford and Warren which is not a short drive for anyone - but it’s worth it! Great food and great service from these employees whose top priority is making people more than happy with their experience at Via Italian Table. Thank you Via!

Via Italian Table provides great Italian food in downtown Worcester's restaurant district. Our family started out with the shrimp cocktail & Bolognese Arancini (meatball) appetizers, which were very good. I had an excellent Porchetta dinner; others had equally good chicken picatta and chicken parmesian dinners. We finished off with the cannolis dessert. Service was also very prompt.
Note this part of Worcester doesn't have that much parking, so finding a space around mealtime can be an issue. This restaurant is owned by the same group that operates the 111 Chop House a block away on Shrewsbury Street. If it's difficult to find a space by Via, consider parking behind 111 Chop House (which as a bigger lot).

We met with family and relatives for dinner. I ordered the Sicilian Salmon, passing up more traditional dishes based on what appealed to me at the moment. I enjoyed it, and especially the couscous which had asparagus bits and tomato chunks mixed in. The Chocolate Torte we split for dessert was also delightful.

Having grown up in Worcester and watching the comings and goings of restaurants over the years, Via has remained as one of my go-to restaurants when I want to show off one of the best Worcester restaurants. The food is always excellent, the service is excellent and consistent, and the warm atmosphere is welcoming.
Try the Beef Bolognese...my personal favorite, although everything is good.

This very large and incredibly busy restaurant was our choice for a couples dinner on a Saturday night. We were greeted promptly by a pleasant hostess and seated quickly in a dark alcove area. It was a really tight squeeze and a anyone who tried to walk between our table and the one behind us found themselves tripping on the splayed chair legs including our great server. One man almost face planted in the tiled floor. He was not amused!
It was restaurant week. Not sure if this was the reason for the insanely busy night. Our server was attentive, unflustered, and accurate. Three of us ordered the 3 course special for 25.20. Very nice choices for all courses. Portion size-generous. The other guests ordered classic Italian dishes all prepared very well and served to the table piping hot. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. Not one complaint. Coffee and dessert was ordered and was enoyed by all. Fun presentation of 10 mini cones of gelato on a painters palette. Overall a very nice experience. Courses took an extremely long time to come out of the open kitchen. We waited an hour and a half for our salads. The staff worked their butts off running from table to kitchen etc. I was amazed that there was not one collision amongst these busy servers. The bathroom is tucked to the left if the open kitchen. A collision course of sorts of bathroom goers and food runners. The food was just delicious and the good company made the delay of food delivery really not matter.
Highly recommend.

We enjoyed dinner at VIA twice, on our overnight stop heading to Bar Harbor and on the return trip since the first experience was so good. Both evenings we had dinner on the lovely patio. Each time we had two excellent servers taking care of us who were professional and helpful with menu items.
I had the eggplant parm which was delicious and a huge portion. Took leftovers for next night dinner in Bar Harbor. Husband had chicken picatta which he said was excellent. On return trip we both had pork osso bucco with polenta on special Pigfest menu. Delicious! Bread and salad that come with meal are are just right.
We had reservations and patio was full both weeknights.
Highly recommend and would dine there again if in that area of Worcester!

Because of the pandemic we have chosen to take only carryout or eat outside at restaurants. The outside area at Via was a great choice since the area is heated, the tables are sufficiently far apart, and it is not too noisy. The service was excellent as well as the food, which included eggplant parmesan, pesto salmon, and Berkshire Osso Bucco for two couples. We would have preferred more vegetarian dishes, but a restaurant cannot be all things to all people.
