Really poor quality food. There was no chicken in the over fried lumps of corn flour in the szechuan chicken. And the tofu in the Kung pan tofu was fried in some poor quality oil that was perhaps used over and over to fry stuff....It tasted horrible. Threw out half the order we placed. We could only eat the fried rice and lo-mein which by the way were bland, but edible.More

This place is fantastic. Great hot pot palace. Fast and delicious. Even ordered take out it was so good. Had spicy frog legs and hot and sour soup. Really good. Veggies fresh, soup hot and yummy. Go here if you like Asian food. Best around!!

So I reviewed this restaurant last year strictly for it’s authentic Chinese hotpot, which is terrific! This time we wanted take-out so ordered off the Chinese menu. WOW!! Really tasty authentic dishes. Not that everything-tastes-the-same you get at many places. Each dish had very unique,...favors that are delicious.More

This place is fun. Traditional hot-pot. You choose your broth and then order your raw meats, seafood, and veggies. All goes in the big pot then eat family style. Been to China.....this is delicious and traditional hot-pot!

Read the reviews and thought we'd take a chance. Yes, the server could do a better job of describing the food choices and the hot pot process BUT he was eager to please, available when we needed him and good at his job. We had...a great lunch. Reasonably priced. We will return.More

There were 11 of us that came here for a birthday celebration. We had reservations but it is a small place so we took up a lot of room. They seem to be better known for their hot pot but we ordered many different dishes...off the menu. Each item was very good. Not everything came out at once but enough to keep us going each time. Our server handled the task efficiently and never appeared to be overwhelmed with serving a party of 11. She never made us feel rushed and listened attentively and answered all our questions. I wouldn't hesitate to return.More

We are a group of seven old friends, really cannot and should not eat that much. But since it is all you can eat, it feels great that you can order anything you want. We stay there the entire afternoon, spending most of the time...talking then eat as much as we can in a heathy way.More

We love treating ourselves to hot pot at Chuan Shabu and have had nothing but great food and service each time. We usually go for hot pot but have loved the few chinese dishes we tried as well. It is pretty expensive but worth it...and the $5 mai tai drinks are delicious!More

We ate here 2-25-2017 (yes, I know this is delayed). We were on road, taking a grandson on a 'treat' trip & needed to eat. Ran search on Internet, saw positive reviews & wished to give the kid a new experience. He was excited &...loved it. We were satisfied, although the quality was less & price more than places we've visited in Boston area. What *really* infuriated me, though, was to receive a credit card receipt with an included tip well in excess of the quality of the service rendered. After the subtotal there was the usual line for a tip. I almost added a tip & signed when I realized the total on the check had been significantly less - 18% less. Then they blithely hand me a slip to sign which implies no tip had been included? It's one matter if the price is bit high, it's *quite* another when a restaurateur allows shady practices. I don't know who is responsible for this nor why the mechanics are this way, I do know I'll never return. Absent this bovine manure, my rating would have been a 3.More

I have been to the restaurant twice both times for the Hot Pot (side note their website looks like it just sells regular Chinese food, which it does BUT 90% of the people here go for the Hot Pot). The first time I went as...a couple and had a great experience.. Great server who explained everything well, how to make your sauce, how long to cook things for etc…ordered the Deluxe 2 people and it was TONS of food, you will not finish it all with just two people. Went back on the weekend for a group of 6 people … very disappointed. Mainly as they put us on one table, very crowed but most importantly only room for ONE Hot Pot… sharing one hot pot for 6 can be done sure… but it was more chaos than fun and the server this time told us NOTHING about how to cook things etc… as I had been before I was able to help out the other 5 but had I not known the whole experience would have been awful… Bottom line as a couple for something new, and a good server I would rate this a 4 or 5 as a group with a bad server a 1 or 2 … end result.. I put it in as a 3.More

We went to Chuan Shabu based on a majority of good reviews received from past patrons. Unfortunately, our waitress wasn't interested in providing good service. Water was ordered with the wine. Eventually, the wine arrived, but no water. Waited a bit before trying to get...her attention. She walked by several times looking every where else but at our table, so we couldn't easily get her attention. When she took our order, she (and the kitchen) didn't separate the appetisers from the meals, so we received the appetisers with the meals. The egg rolls were more like spring rolls. The Kung Pao Beef was not made with chilli and Sichuan peppercorns. This is not a truly authentic Sichuan restaurant. On the pro side, all the meat and vegetables in all the dishes were fresh.More
