My wife and I stopped in prior to a show on a Sunday night and it was full so reservations only. Luckily we had made our reservation months ago. As usual we were greeted by Jeanette and Bill warmly and were seated immediately. Its BYOB...so she brought our "rocks" glasses immediately. My wife had the baked stuffed shrimp which consisted of three good sized shrimp with lobster and crab stuffing. It came with a veggie and she said the entrée was delicious. I had the lamb ragout with gnocci and it was excellent, rather a large serving. I started with the Caesar salad which actually comes with anchovies on request. I love anchovies. We split a piece of their lemon cake with coffee and tea. With tax and tip the bill came to $89.00 and my wife, who watches bills closely, agreed that it was worth it. This is a small but excellent place to dine before the show and tonight the show was an ABBA tribute group. I mention this to show the personal service you get here. I had originally made my reservations too late to have a restful meal prior to the show so Jeanette called to change my time to a more appropriate one. This place is a one minute walk from the Hanover Theater in Worcester, Ma., to it is very convenient.More
This was our first visit to the Theatre Cafe thinking it was a new restaurant in the area. We were surprised to hear that the owners have been in this location for nine years. They were friendly and welcoming and the food was delicious. Both...my husband and I had the butternut squash bisque and found it delicious. He had the lamb ragout and I had the ½ duck. We both loved our dishes which were expertly prepared. Dessert of lemon cake was shared as well as a cappuccino. The owners complement each other, with the wife offering a comedy routine. The husband/chef visited our table and chatted since it was a quiet night.
Our experience was delightful and we plan to go back soon.More
Periodically the Theatre Cafe hosts what they call a "private dinner club" with a theme. Last night 6 of us attended a their Christmas event and it was stupendous! A 7 course dinner for a flat price per person included goose, lobster pot pie, prime...rib, appetizer, salad and dessert. Entrees small portions but more than enough considering You're eating all 3. The best part...we would not order any of these entrees. Now that we got a taste will consider ordering
The pace of the serving was perfect and our wives (who were facing the kitchen) saw an amazing show as Karen and Bill cook and prepared plates. Also had entertainer with acoustic guitar who was great as well. Restaurant is byob which we love. Without question we will will not only come back for one of these theme events but came back to eat when not having event. Oh...cost was $45 per person worth every penny. Last but not least thanks to Bill, Jeanette, Nina and Karen for a great nightMore

so glad you were able to join us for our Supper Club! We love hosting them. Stay tuned for the next one coming up in the future!
A quiet night in downtown Worcester sparkled with dinner at The Theater Cafe. We were the only people there - no show next door - so it was quiet, the service was perfect and the food was excellent. Fancy, it’s not, but if it’s great...food you’re after and Worcester is on the agenda, you will be very happy with this choice. And for a basis of comparison, we eat out a lot including for many years in the South End and this meal was memorable.More

Thank you for your kind review! Glad you enjoyed your meal and time at the Cafe. Hope for you to join us again.
We took our adult kids to dinner before attending a show at The Hanover Theatre in downtown Worcester last night. We were coming from different staring points but arrived near our 5:30 target time. (Show began at 7:30 and was just a minute or two...away) We were seated in a back room with larger tables for our 5 person group. The Cafe is tiny - but very warm and friendly, reservations are a must. The owners are very involved and are very nice people as was our waitress.
The food was terrific, My duck was so crisp and flavorful I will be going back for that in the future. Other dishes sampled were Lobster Fra Diavolo and Lobster Ravioli. A very un-Campbell version of tomato soup was offered, and the Cobb Salad looked great. Desserts were sumptuous and all quite reasonably priced.More
Why did I wait so long to have the freshly cooked potato chips?! Probably because I'm not much for chips, but these were fantastic... making a chip girl out of me! I've had the LOVE wrap on several occasions and it is very good.
This is the second time we have dined here. And they still know how to make this a restaurant not to be missed. Make sure you make a reservation well in advance and BYOB. Yes they will open your wine and provide glasses. The night...we dined we had the Duck which was cooked to order, and the fresh sea scallops that were the best I have ever had. They go above and beyond to please. Kudos to the entire staff.More
Four os us stopped in on a Tuesday night before attending the Hanover Theater. The place was full and on show nights, be sure to have a reservation, made in advance of the show. I had the 1/2 duck which was served as two full...legs. I have never had such a meaty duck before and it had great taste. I took one leg home for lunch the next day. MY wife had scallops that she loved. Another guest had the lobster ravioli for the 2nd time and still loved them, saying she would get them next time again. Our 4th had the prime rib which was a good size and reportedly delicious. Jeanette, our server, was pleasant and fun as usual and Bill, the chef made his usual visits to the table. This is a small place with room for only 22 in the front room and that is what makes it charming. With a $30.00 tip our bill came to $180.00 including that tip. This is a BYOB place so come prepared. We had coffee and dessert after which was a chocolate cake of some sort and a delicious marscapone cake. Alwys worth a visit here.More
We had two meals here recently; lunch and then dinner a few days later. Location is great for pre-theater. Prices are reasonable (BYOB) and food is delicious. Tiny place so you definitely need a reservation. Ambiance is OK- not at all fancy but clean, quiet...and comfortable. We will be back!More
