Normally when I see a restaurant with steak taking up a large part of the entrees, I have my doubts. I was wrong. Lock 50 had some lovely, impressive dishes. We had the scallops, asparagus, gnocchi, and mussels. They were each imaginative and delicious. Over...the years Worcester has not yielded the best restaurants. It was nice to find an exception. Service was exceptionally friendly from the kindness of the valet to the knowledge of the sommelierMore

The service was really poor but food was good. My reservation was at 5:15, and my friend arrived at 5:00 and was seated. I arrived at 5:20 so 5 min late for the reservation. Server told my friend that we only have max of 2...hours from the time she was seated. Around 6:30, server rushed us told us that we needed to leave by 7:00. We didn't enjoy our dinner because we feel like we had hurry up and eat. We left to go to another restaurant afterwards for dessert and coffee. 2nd time was the following week. Our server doesn't come back to check on the table often. We waited about 30 min each time. We even had to go to the bar just to ask for water. He didn't even ask us for our dinner order after we only ordered appetizers "small plates." So we decided to leave without ordering dinner. I think his tables were all over the place, but we left at 7:00 the restaurant looked empty. We likely won't go back for dinner. We will try brunch and see if the service is better then.More

The brunch was spectacularly good, service was great. Chicken and grits comes on a board and is a little tricky to eat, but not to be missed.

Very disappointing overall. The food was good but the service from management bartender and even the owner was awful. The waitress did her best with what she had but we waited 40 to 50 minutes in between each course at the chef’s tasting The only...even walk by it multiple times and didn’t even notice how bad it was. The beverage manager was clueless with the winds in the overall experience was nothing like the chef tastings used to be.More

This is a great place to hang out. Nice interior space, but when the weather is good this place shines with a lot of outdoor seating... 3 different seating options. We took advantage of the amazing weather after our first WooSox game and stopped by...here for a drink and some food. We sat on the terrace and it was very relaxing. Cocktails were great, wine by the glass selection is ok... never heard of the wines. A basket of fries was very good, served piping hot with an excellent homemade ketchup. We shared the flatbread of the day... very fresh, good. Service was attentive. The manager keeps an eye on everything, stopped by our table, aims to please... very professional.More

Four of us arrived for an early-ish 6pm dinner and had a very enjoyable couple of hours. Food was delicious - enough that I will go again and try the chef's tasting menu sometime. We shared a number of small plates and particularly enjoyed the...gnocchi, fergese, scallops and banana rum thing for dessert. Burgers were also good. Blair, our server, was fantastic - she is knowledgeable about the menu, made good recommendations and checked in frequently. Timing of food delivery was perfect early on, but slowed down a little as it got busy. Ambience inside and out is great. Highly recommend.More

My fiancé and I dined at Lock 50 a few weeks ago to celebrate my recent promotion, and our only regret was not visiting sooner! We both opted for the 5-course tasting menu with wine pairings, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Our server, Cartier, was...friendly and attentive, and took care to communicate a couple of food sensitivities to the kitchen to ensure we'd be able to enjoy everything we were served. The dishes were creative and completely off-menu, making this a truly special meal. Here's what we enjoyed: - Asian-inspired poached sea bass with a quick-pickled slaw - mussels and clams with a smoky tomato broth - tandoori-style quail with harissa oil and a pear & almond chutney - wagyu skirt steak (I believe there was a potato as well, but it's been a few weeks and the wine was flowing...the steak was the star) - blueberry creme brûlée All of the food was perfectly cooked and delicious. My fiancé deemed the creme brûlée the best he'd ever had. The wine pairings were generally good; the red that was paired with the quail fell a little flat when paired with the quail itself, but was redeemed by the chutney. A rose might have complemented the combination of fruit and spice a bit better without overpowering the quail. Our server's youth was apparent when presenting the wines and their tasting notes, but her sincerity added to the charm and authenticity of the experience. The manager, Alban, also came over to see how we were enjoying our evening, and was kind enough to throw in a complimentary round of prosecco to cap off our celebration. By the end of the evening, my fiancé was considering whether we might want to hold our rehearsal dinner for our wedding at Lock 50 instead of another local restaurant we had in mind. We will absolutely be back, and look forward to putting our evening in the chef's capable hands once again!More

Lock 50 is a stellar operation from start to finish. That's an achievement any time, but especially amid all the rules and hassles of the pandemic. This restaurant nails it. We wanted to get together for a pleasant, safe family lunch on a weekend when...winter weather had begun. No easy matter in 2020. Finding outdoor dining in New England on a colder-than-normal November day is tough, but we'd heard Lock 50 had heaters on its patio. We'd never heard of this restaurant and went with fairly low expectations; if the staff was civil and the food edible, we'd still be ahead of the game. Wow, what a wonderful surprise. From the hostess's initial greeting to the manager's helpfulness before we were seated, the staff here was top-notch all the way. They were strictly following the health protocols, and managed to be gracious and cheerful at the same time. Cartier, our server, was superb - and it's no easy thing to provide exceptional service in breezy 40-degree weather, constantly going back and forth between the cold patio and the heated restaurant. She did it with a smile. Can't say enough about the frittata, which was exquisite, or the pastrami sandwich. C'mon, you say, how good can a pastrami sandwich be? It was remarkable: lean, fresh and astonishingly tasty. The thin-sliced pickle was delightful. And in a year when many restaurants are jacking up prices, this lovely meal was reasonable, too. I can recommend Lock 50 with confidence.More

Relaxing Evening The staff was intriguing, well mannered and friendly. Our waitress, Shella, was amazing and professional. We started with oysters, scallops and squid all of which was prepared perfectly and highly recommended. Entree’s were salmon and sirloin. Salmon was the best salmon ever had....sirloin...was cooked to perfection. Strong recommendation to everyone. Will be back.More

Lock 50 50 Water Street Worcester, MA 01604 Tel: 508-379-3400 Highly over-rated, food bland, and in-authentic”. August 20, 2020 Rated at $$$, I thought the food would be special and prepared with a high degree of expertise. “a seasonal Contemporary menu sourced from the freshest local...ingredients when possible.’ My companion ordered: ‘pan-seared salmon, stir-fry vegetables, jasmine rice’ I sampled her dish, the salmon was competently prepared. The stir-fry was ‘curious’ because the bok-choy’ tasted pickled. But where did the salmon originate ? My Beef Carpaccio was well executed, consisting of thin slices of rare beef anointed with olive oil, strewn with Shallot crisps. But we had to request bread; the waitress did return with some grill-charred slices. My entree was mediocre. My chicken arrived with slightly browned skin, but when my fork pierced the breast meat, it came apart in slivers. This is a sign that the chicken was boiled and over-cooked, then fried or browned in a pan. It tasted bland and lacked any sweetness. ”Was the chicken locally sourced? What farm did it come from? A high-priced restaurant prides itself on buying only from the best purveyor of meats and produce. My entree was listed as: ‘HALF CHICKEN Mediterranean Orzo Salad, Tzatziki Yogurt Sauce. The orzo salad lacked any distinctive taste. This restaurant is over-priced, food preparation is just average. In fairness, this is ‘covid-times’; perhaps the restaurant is having trouble with staffing. ~tiaotse~More

We booked a table for 6 outdoors at 7:30. They did not seat us until 7:50. The manager kindly treated us to a round of drinks on the house. The drinks toke a long time coming so we ordered the food as soon as we...could. They seemed to be backed up and we did not get our food until around 9:00 PM. The food was excellent. The service from our waiter Leo B was top class. So overall 4 stars and it would have been 5 if the logistics had worked out better.More

My wife and I had been meaning to try this place for a while and Restaurant Week gave us the perfect opportunity. We arrived a little early for our reservation and the place was already hopping. We went to the bar and had a drink...while waiting for our table. My Long Trail Amber and my wife’s Cosmo were both excellent. We both chose the salmon entree from the three course prix fixe menu. The kale salad was a very pleasant surprise as was the Albanian Fergese second course. Our salmon was cooked perfectly. Both the service and the price were outstanding. Highly recommend.More

My husband and I made a 10:00 dinner reservation as we were attending a show at the Hanover. We arrived early, around 9:30 and they wouldn’t seat us as apparently the kitchen was already closed. Their website says they are open until midnight. I don’t...appreciate that they took our reservation if they knew the kitchen would be closed. We would have made a reservation elsewhere. As parents of young children we get to go out very rarely. I don’t appreciate the dishonesty.More

All I can say is WOW!! We had the 7 course tasting with wine, and the chef absolutely blew us away! Salmon belly and caviar with hand fried potato to begin, and it kept getting better. Chef Tim Russo is a sincerely talented chef with...a knack for combining unexpected flavors in the best way possible. If you're game for the unexpected, and like to be pleasantly surprised, get yourself to Lock 50!More
