We had a wonderful dinner at Spice Root. We came in from the pouring rain to a very cozy atmosphere on a Friday night. The clientele was a nice mix of families, couples, and students. We were served at a comfortable pace-- did not feel rushed. Our meals were delicious. We like traditional Indian fare, and Spice Root has something... More

My husband and I recently spent three nights in The Berkshires in Western Massachusetts and "Spice Root" was recommended by our motel. We were very happy that we followed up on this recommendation. We were welcomed (without a reservation) and were seated immediately. I ordered "Zalfrezi" and my husband ordered "Home Spice Curry", both "medium" and both with chicken. In... More

Great service and good food, enough said. We visited Spice Root having not visited an Indian Restaurant in the US before. Hailing from the UK where we are blessed with a huge volume of very good Indian Restaurants across the country, we are spoiled for choice and we were keen to see if the US variant would be just as... Disappointing Indian meal.....we were welcomed by a very pleasant young waiter who brought us iced water but from then onwards this was a disappointing experience. The food we ordered was delivered very quickly...in retrospect too quickly by a fairly unsmiling older man and my Ragara Patties were still fridge cold in the middle and luke warm on the outside. The... More

The service is excellent and the environment is lovely and welcoming. The food is average with a lot of choices. If vegetarian is a preference this would be a good choice. The prices are moderate which is also a plus. Being use to to outstanding Indian food this is not up to our standards but in the small community it... More

This restaurant was so good last year when we visited Williamstown MA that I wanted to go back again this year. Try the Spice Root Samosa Chaat for starters. It was delicious!

We have eaten here whenever we visit Williamstown. The food is very flavorful and not very spicy. Chilli paste is available upon request. The buffet has vegetarian and non-vegetarian items. The restaurant is clean , bright and tastefully decorated in an Indian motif. The staff is friendly and generally knowledgeable about ingredients. I did not give it 5 stars because... More

Between the Clark Art Institute and a play, I stopped for lunch. Great folks and food. Lamb Samoa and shrimp kebab with a beer. Wonderful. Everything was fresh and delicious.

When in Williamstown this is a popular destination for above average Indian food. Usually we go for the terrific and affordable lunch buffet. It's best to get there at noon. When dishes run out they are not always refreshed. It's also popular for dinner and always mobbed on weekends.
