We just went there to bring...home three different flavors of bulk ice cream - “natural” black raspberry, pistachio, and chocolate chip - and everyone raved about how truly exceptionally great ice cream it was! Expensive? Yeah, it was, but everything is going up in price, it’s a small local family business, the value was there, and it was absolutely worth it. Last night I brought out of town guests here for the local New England ice cream experience. It was so bad that I was embarrassed. They were serving either melted ice cream or unfrozen base. The scoops held no shape. I don't know what they...would have done if we had ordered cones rather than dishes. The single serving came just to the lip of the cup - about 3 inches - and looked nothing like any ice cream that I've ever been served or the pictures on their website. This will be my last visit. Definitely the place you want to visit this summer. You'll need to give yourself time to read through the extensive list of ice cream flavors. The ice cream at Benson’s is overpriced but tastes ok. I don’t think it tastes as good as it used to, but I experienced something there today that left a very bad taste in my mouth, and it wasn’t the ice cream. The customer in...front of me placed his order and then very nicely asked if he could have some tap water for his Husky. The temperature was in the 80’s and the dog was clearly thirsty. He was told that it wasn’t the policy of the ice cream stand to do this. Are they SERIOUS? I have been going to ice cream stands for more than 50 years and never ever have heard a water request for a dog refused. He was the only dog there and it was so hot. Had it been me, I would have walked away and spent my $17. somewhere else. As the customer turned to go, I did hear him say to his friend, “Well that’s the last time I’ll stop here.” Me, too.More

I worked in an ice cream factory many years ago, so I have an appreciation for quality and ingredients. There's no question that Benson's is very popular and has a large flavor variety. The best ice cream uses good old fashion fresh cream that results...in a butter fat mouth feel that can't be beat. That's the ice cream I grew up on. I have to question whether Benson's uses any real cream or fresh dairy products. Tastes like all powder and artificial ingredients to me.More
It can be kinda of expensive but all the flavors are very good, especially the fresh local fruit flavors like peach and raspberry. I also really like their salted caramel.
We recently decided to try Benson's and oh my gosh, it's phenomenal!! Not only is the ice-cream amazing but the kids who work there are super friendly and super attentive. First ice-cream shop I have been to that didn't get all flustered when I asked...them about allergens and ingredients. The girl not only washed the scoop but she went to her manager and made absolutely sure that I could have the flavor I was looking to consume. The prices are a bit hefty but I am willing to pay for amazing ice-cream! We will keep coming here for a long time!!More
