back for first visit after onset of COVID. Restaurant is clean, and tables allow for distancing. Staff totally helpful and friendly. Food remains delicious. Have the tea with cardamon, a Persian tradition. The fattoush is very satisfying with a nice dressing. They serve generous amounts of pita. We had two variants on chicken with rice, mine with raisins and lentils, hers with sour cherry. Dishes came hot, actually steaming, a visual pleasure. The Persian ice cream, saffron, rose water, pistachios, is really a nice finish. A place for good conversation and a relaxed delicious meal.

this is a small restaurant a few steps off Watertown square. parking is on street or in the large public lot almost adjacent to the restaurant. very friendly staff, quiet and pleasant ambiance. not a place for a rushed meal. family friendly. they serve wine and beer from a modest list. for us, this visit was an introduction to Persian food, a totally interesting experience. had fattoush salad, which is a mid-eastern staple that we love. had the eggplant appetizer, which went well with pita. I had stew, she had chicken, both served with mounds of rice. dessert was saffron-pistachio ice cream and tea with cardamom (no coffee). totally satisfying meal, delicious tastes. Restaurant is named after Rumi. it is halal.

Last minute bday dinner

What a surprise little gem of a place this was! We were heading to Maharaja,but my Mom wanted something closer,we Google found Molana & oh boy, we weren't disappointed!!! Service was excellent, food was great & bathroom clean. Nick and Rose went the extra mile to make my Mom 65th bday dinner extra special. Sang, gave her bakala & icecream on the house!When we are visiting from NY..plan on going again.highly recommend!!! Lamb & salmon kebabs were excellent @

The lady serving us (only occupied table for next one and a half hour ) had an attitude .....first the glasses/goblets were not placed on the table ,excuse, they were in the dishwasher and are warm ,,,what?????. We had a prior reservation . Then the smell in minced meat she mentioned it was saffron fragrance. Alot of room for improvement in service and food .

I visited Molana Resturant today and i was very disappointed because we ordered some food. They took ages to bring. They are so clever to bring first virgin Mojito with full of ice in little jug, (did i pay the money for the ice?) then they took ages to bring starter Mahi Kilka, after 25 minutes later main cource came. They served other people before us even they came after us. salad was not looking good. How you call salad? They should learn how to make salad. No presentation. Only 1 good sauce.They are so clever to make Momtaz lunch offer just .90 pence difference than original manue. it was very bad customer service. They dont know how to give customer service I felt waiters are no happy to work here. No smile on their faces. Grimpy faces,Nothing to cost pass smile to customers. So paid service charge (for the moody and grimpy faces) parking ticket time was over because they took so long time to bring food. I didnt enjoy the food so i wasted my money and treval I will no go back to this resturant. Bit expensive if i compare to the portion and other restaurant too.

Outstanding Persian food

Our first visit to a Persian restaurant. My wife & I came with a cousin & his wife who was born in Persia. She said it is very authentic and we loved it. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They have a varied selection and it was hard to pick one, I settled on a lamb kabob and my wife picked on of the Daily Khoresht and we both thought they were excellent.

It is the best Persian restaurant I have ever gone in my life. I’ve just came from Europe and I compare Molana with the other restaurant I see this restaurant is wonderful with good staff and amazing price. If you want to enjoy the real Persian food taste, I highly recommend Molana restaurant. Everything is awesome

I am a Regular customer here. The waiters are friendly and passionate about giving a great quality service. I eat the salad Shirazi appetizer and I usually have a beef soltani. The food is always fresh and I always enjoy it.

The Best Hummus Tahini Ever! and More!

Brought my friend to Molana's today. We both ate the hummus tahini with a spoon! the most delicious I have ever had anywhere...that alone would get a 5 star!!! Mina was our server. She was wonderful. Attentive, helpful, welcoming..the best! You can order anything there and it would be great. We both are going back and next time bringing friends! I may just eat the hummus as the main dish...it's that amazing! Oh and the Persian ice cream sublime! Saffron rice with chicken...delicious. Just go and enjoy!

The food was the focus here. Small space, but big heart here. Server was extremely helpful and each plate was outstanding. From the salads, bread, Cornish hen, beef and lamb shank, all top notch! Hats off to the chef.

The exterior was ok .. the exterior was ok. They have one friendly waitress that greats, meets & serves everyone. As an appetizer we ordered kashk Bademjan (eggplant based) that tasted ok. And for the main course we got kabab kubideh and kabob soltani (both tasteless), but the small raisin like dry fruit (recommend by the waitress) added a little bit of taste to the dish. When we got the bill it had an additional charge of $14, when asked they said it’s for the raisins. We spoke to the person in charge and he removed it. When we got the (corrected bill), it had an amount of $8 as an automatic tip.

we had come from a groupon (but did not end up using it) it is Iranian food - on side street out of watertown sq. dark and creepy on the outside - walk in - you walk into another world - the smell got me right away - overwhelming. few tables of customers - 1 waiter - so the process of ordering and eating was a process - very spiratic service - i ordered chicken with rice, husband, beef with rice and special cranberries for an additional $7.00 - tiny cupful you put on yourself. water came, then disappear, asked for bread, hummus - he was just bopping all over the place and the smell was just killing me - i totally into the cultural experience but it just seemed like a cleaning was needed. finally we got our food, but hummus bread after the fact - which this is was the appetizer - we heard few others make complaints to waiter as well, though he said, not his fault, other worker did not show - it is no way to run a business. we took a couple of bites, packed it up and departed ways - not a great experience

Great food, wonderful service, friendly people, diverse clientele

Molana is wonderful bit of Iran / Persia right in Watertown Square. The food is authentic, delicious, and very reasonably priced. I've had a number of different dishes there, and not been disappointed in any ... all were excellent. But I especially liked the Baghali Polo With Lamb Shank ... tender, with a savory sauce and vegetables. It's definitely my favorite. The service is great ... very friendly and courteous. The owner / manager Mohsen is always available and interested to talk with you -- and he knows everybody. It's a great place to meet people from many different backgrounds.
