We've been coming to Il Capricio for many years - a dish occasionally falls short but not this week. The salads were generous and fresh, then we had several appetizers: the chilled lobster, cucumber and yogurt soup, grilled octopus, and Foie gras and sea scallop - all excellent. The Mediterranean seafood stew was amazing. The black risotto and crispy calamari... More

You can always accurately judge the quality of an Italian restaurant by its bread, wine, and olive oil. Il Capriccio's bread has a good toothsome chewiness, its olive oil is fruity with a bit of a bite to it, and to call the wine list extensive would be like calling Lebron's basketball skills adequately adept. We shared the grilled foie... More

We are lucky to live fairly close to Il Capriccio and for 20 years it has been our go-to local fine dining restaurant. We have never had a bad experience or even a mediocre one. Each time we experience delightful service, delicious food and an amazing wine selection. Some of our favorites are the porcini soufflé, the tuna tartare and... More

My wife and I joined another couple for dinner here on a Saturday night. The restaurant was full but did not appear rushed or noisy. The atmosphere is relaxed, the wait staff knowledgeable with the menu and the wines. The mushroom appetizer was outstanding while the salads were fresh, good sized and creative. The entrees we had were all good... More

Some of the best food in Boston ain't in the city folks. This restaurant - where I hadn't been in perhaps 10 years, and is somehow even better than I remembered - is on par with the best dining experiences you can find in this or any other city. My two friends and I met up and decided to dine... More

Full collection of French,Italian and Spanish red and white makes the place worth going. Fine dining with romantic interior but on higher side of pocket. All in all place is worth eating.

We took a group of visiting Japanese colleagues here for dinner and it was amazing. They have an extensive list of mostly Italian wines, including many rare vintages. I started with steamed PEI mussels that were served in a delicate saffron seasoned sauce. For the main I had a swordfish steak that was done to perfection. Several of our group... More

Description
Il Capriccio serves a constantly changing Northern Italian menu featuring local products with an award winning Italian wine and Grappa list. Though long considered a local secret, Il Capriccio has been the number one Northern Italian restaurant in Zagat's for the past seven years. The wine list has been featured in Decanter, Sante, Wine & Spirits and Stuff. The same menu is served in the Bar. We like to serve great food and great wine in a comfortable setting.
