We are so fortunate to have this restaurant in our local area. It is a great place for a quiet, leisurely dinner. The dinning room is like stepping back in time. The décor is from colonial days, a low ceiling with beams and the floor appears to have the original wide plank floor. The servers are attentive and efficient. Then,... More

Great atmosphere for a romantic dinner, family gathering or celebration. The service and meal selection is above your average fare. My family and I are frequent visitors to this local and are never disappointed.

We just love to eat at the Publick House! Since we live locally, we eat there every month or two, usually using the coupon from the local "Yankee Shopper" free newspaper, for buy one entrée get one free! With or without the coupon--it is outstanding! Love the fireplace in the winter and the antique filled décor.

We dined here in June, 2016, but this was not our first time eating here. I think that the place has gotten better (if that's possible). The portions are very generous and delicious. The lobster pie was the very best I've ever had. The restaurant was filled to capacity....no seating without reservations. Good thing we had them. The atmosphere is... More

This is an attractive historic setting with very good food and service. I recommend a reservation for the dining room, but it is often possible to get seating in the pub which feels a little less formal and offers the same fine food. Everyone who comes here looks forward to the basket of bread, especially the sticky buns.

Found this jem while looking for lodging. They were full up but while reading about the hits and misses with the rooms, wanted to definitely try the food. We were not disappointed. You must ask for Charlie (chaali), he made it a very memorable evening. The only negative for me was the basket of bread. Others at the table were... More

The Publick House continues to be the best in historic inn restaurants. The food and service has never been better. I had the tradional turkey dinner, my wife had scallops. Salad and chowder excellent. Bar service very good. Very busy with many wedding parties, professional staff kept up the pace.

It has been a decade since we stopped here for dinner on our way from NYC to Boston. In the olden days, people were waiting outside to be seated because it was so good and such an enjoyable experience. I should have checked TripAdvisor before booking... The first sign of alarm was that there were no people outside. Next concern... More

Our family likes to meet here for family reunions. We either eat in Pub or outside on the patio. Service has always been good, portions generous.

We did not realize reservations were full when we arrived, but had the happy fortune to secure seats at the Pub bar downstairs where the full menu is served. Excellent prime rib, crab stuffed trout, and the best blueberry pie!!!!
