The history, setting and quality of food are all great reasons to dine at the Publick House. Don't forget to check out the Bakery.

I had an enjoyable stay at Public House Historic Inn at a recent stay at Sturbridge, Massachusetts. It is a very large place with meeting rooms, a bakery, restaurant, and many sitting rooms that invite sitting and chatting. Although the room and buildings do show its age, my ground level room was clean huge with an outside balcony looking out... More

We really liked our meals. My husband enjoyed the turkey and dressing while my daughter and I shared the pot roast. The servings were generous and flavorful. We were impressed with the variety in the bread basket. Our server was nice but very slow. We weren't in a rush but it was a little annoying. Overall we were pleased with... More

Fall in New England is a great time to visit this historic inn and restaurant. The food choices are just perfect for the area. Thanksgiving dinner is served everyday at the Publick House and that was our choice on our visit. A fantastic setting in main dining room made this visit extra special. Our waitress was very helpful and quite... More

Have been going here for 50 years and have never been disappointed. Our server, Crystal was fabulous and the food was as good as always. We love the entire experience.

First dinner of our vacation and it was fantastic! The food was really good. The Bread basket had everything from dinner rolls to cinnamon rolls in it. Crazy good! The staff was great and the atmosphere was perfect.

We booked to have dinner here on a one night stay in Sturbridge, during a leaf peeping trip. We weren't expecting to be bowled over but neither were we expecting to wait nearly an hour for very average food. The best choice was the freshly cooked potato chips!

We wanted so much to enjoy this experience. It was planned for 2 weeks as a birthday retreat. Let me say first, the place was packed with special events, 2 weddings and 3 anniversary dinners. Maybe that was over-reaching for them. Although that alone would not explain the tough cuts of beef. Sirloin ordered by 2 of us was chewy.... More

The Publick House has plenty of Colonial charm and lovely grounds. However, the food is very mediocre. We were there for lunch on a Monday in the upstairs dining room. I had a crab salad which sounded tempting but the crab had no flavor. My husband had a crabcake sandwich and he said the same was true of his crabcake.... More

What a wonderful dining experience. We both selected the meat loaf, it was delicious, along with the squash side and the best fresh baked bread basket of sweet breads and dinner rolls. The restaurant is quaint and beautiful, don't miss eating here.
