Irish music session in the front corner, Americana, Celtic and other sorts of concerts in the back room, and Guinness, Harp, and other spirits, great soups, salads, and burgers, irish and American breakfast dishes -- and Barry's Tea! Welcoming, friendly atmosphere whatever time of day you visit.

Went to watch the Celtic Fiddle fest perform in the back room. Arrived early for dinner - great choices on the menu I had the fish & chips - very tasty and flaky My friends had the Guinness stew and Shepard pie, enjoyed their entrees as well If you get a chance to see this group perform - they are... This is a nice place, not extremely "fancy" but very friendly. What I really like is the fact that they often host live music events and possibilities for non-professional exhibitions. Nice place to go and listen some music while having a drink !

This is one of my favorite places to go. Whether listening to music, eating a meal, or enjoying camaraderie; the Burren in Somerville is pure magic. The staff and bartenders are super friendly and make sure you're happy and comfortable. The legendary open mic night on Tuesdays is a great outlet to try out new material for songwriters and performers,... More

't Was in the Boston Globe I read about a concert of the Irish singer Aoife Scott from Dublin, daughter of the well known singer Frances Black, niece of the famous singer Mary Black. So we went walking the river bank, from Boston over the Charles River, through Cambridge to Somerville. A long but interesting walk (Go to visit The... More

I as in the back room at the Burren for a concert, so wasn't expecting to have a particularly good meal. I was very pleasantly surprised by the variety of options, including many vegetarian dishes. I got a coconut curry soup and some brussel sprouts. Both were very good. Great music, great food- we will make a point of going... More

The best of both worlds. Traditional Irish in the front and cover band in the back. The wings were 👌🏻

Went here to hear a Celtic singer and had dinner and drinks before and during the show. As we were leaving the "Backroom," heard a little of another group that was playing up front for free. All 3 of the entrees were great. The menu (of course) is heavy on traditional pub grub, but they had a surprisingly deep vegetarian... More

This is a real find. Food was great, as were the drinks. Small plate specials were actually not so small. I had the summer salad with vinagrette dressing. I would have enjoyed a piece of bread with it. Rest of party had the garbanzo bean stew with grilled bread dripped with honey. We also had fried pickles served with aioli... More

A son has moved into the area to attend the Tufts post bacc program and we stumbled upon The Burren during my initial visit to see his new world. Could not have been happier with this choice. Frankly surprising to see so many mixed or negative reviews of this place on Trip Advisor, as that simply was not our experience.... More
