we loved the atmosphere in the tavern -- draws on the age of the building combined with eclectic antique fixtures; cozy and dark. Food was very good - well prepared and interesting flavors. only bad mark was that the steak was significantly underdone

This country style pub located in an old house on a scenic, rural road between Sheffield and Great Barrington has a warm, rustic feel. In the summer, if it's a hot night avoid sitting in the windowed front room which has no air conditioning. A fan might help or just sit outside until the mosquitoes come out. The food is... More

We've always heard about this place, built in the 1700s, but have never made it there until today! I can't believe we did not go sooner!!!! It's simply amazing if you love history, architect and food!!! The staff were very inviting and warm. We took the little booth off the bar which was so romantic and comfy!!!! Decent selection of... Eat by candlelight and enjoy the very quaint atmosphere. It is a bit off the beaten track but that adds to the charm. Our food was very good.

We came from all over and met for a candlelight dinner in such a cozy restaurant. We had roast chicken and it was divine. All the wines around the table were good, but our cab was exceptional. The waiter was exceptional and talked us into the strawberry rhubarb crumble and we LOVED that. The best word for this place is... More

Waitstaff could not have been friendlier. The food was fantastic. It was a bit pricey but it was a special dining experience.

I've been coming hear for years, since the early 1970s and have seen many owners and changes. Food is very good and the wine is excellent. Wait staff is friendly and courteous. It's not perfect but all the details come together for a truly unique destination dining experience in an inn that is filled with history.

My husband and I decided to go there for our anniversary. We made a reservation in the tavern area. We sat in a cozy little booth across from the bar. We both had the wild mushroom risotto for an app and it was delicious! But it was so filling we didn't really need to order a meal!!! The entrees were... More

A charming spot with a rich history past and a shoddy present. The hostess was young and clueless and the waitress seemed like a refugee from Woodstock, wafting about at her leisure. Fortunately the cook knew what he/she was doing; my Cornish game hen flew high. Give this place a professional wait staff (a la the Old Mill a few... More
