We ordered a Pizza last Sunday and we're a bit disappointed. It seems that on occasion, the Pizzas at The Russell Inn are quite good and sometimes last week just so-so. The sauce was a little sweet. We normally go to Pasquale's in Westfield but...were pressed for time so we went to The Russell Inn.More

We had a lovely meal except for the clam chowder. It was floury and bland. My husband doctored his up and ate it anyway. My sister sent hers back. When she asked to have it taken off the bill, a "manager" came over and argued...that they have never had any complaints and refused to deduct the $5.00 from our $120.00 bill. Most people would deduct from the tip but it wasn't the waitresses fault so we left 20 %. We won't wont be returning and will share our story. Poor customer service.More

It has been 5 years since my last review of this country restaurant. We have been here often since then. While I have made many disparaging comments about lackluster industrial "Italian-American" red sauce elsewhere. The Russell Inn's marinara tastes homemade and shines. So too does...their Italian style bread. made fresh, in house everyday. There is consistent attention to detail. The prices are fair; the portions are large, and most people leave with a box of leftovers large enough for another meal. The service is friendly and informal. Expect comfort food, with a number of Italian-American specialties worth considering. Eggplant and Veal Parmesan are first rate. Locals rave about their pizza, and one heading to a neighboring table looked tempting. A daily special, a seafood chowder, was packed with tasty mussels and clams. With 34 years of service to their community, the Peluso family offer a reliable and congenial venue in a sparsely populated stretch of the hilltowns.More

We had sandwiches during the week. The service was good but the place looked kind of run down & even the sandwiches weren't so great.

Ordered fish and chips from Russell Inn and it was the worse fish I've ever eaten. Fish was rubbery, the batter was too thick and full of grease. Chips were soft and greasy. I will never order from them again.

We saw this restaurant on Trip Advisor when we were looking for a place for an early dinner, all good reviews. I had the chicken and pasta dish which was scrumptious. My fiance had the chicken parm. He liked their red sauce. He requested the...chicken be baked instead of fried and they accommodated his request. The bread was served hot with a delicious oil. Service was very good, our waitress very pleasant. There was a pretty decent crowd for a Saturday afternoon. We would return. Seems like their pizza is excellent, will have to try it!More

Decided to wanted some pizza driving home from hiking Mount Greylock and knew the Russell Inn could deliver! Not real crowded yet at 4:00 on Black Friday but it does get busy here. We were greeted quickly and drinks put in. Looking over the menu...we remembered that the portions are huge. We spit the romaine salad and made our own medium pizza! Salad was good and big enough to split. The pizza came out, it's a over sized medium for sure lot's of topping that we picked out and was cooked to our asked for "well done"( we don't like soggy pizza)! Couldn't have asked for A BETTER pizza which was a good thing having thought about it during our 25 mile drive to get their! We have been here a lot in the past so it was good to revisit and find it still a great option. Enjoy!More

We’ve been here several times and the food is usually very good. This trip however missed the mark. The lasagna was spicy and cold in the middle and my sampler dish was also spicy and not as hot as it should have been.

We were driving on the Scenic Jacob's Ladder Trail and found this restaurant. It was quite busy on this Fall Friday afternoon. There were many items on the menu and we chose a BLT with French fries and a Cheese Calzone for our lunch. The...smallest calzone (bar size) is huge and delicious with tomato sauce on the side. Service was good with an efficient and pleasant waitress who also was our hostess. We will return to this restaurant for the food and the good prices when we are in the area.More

We eat here a lot. The food is out of this world. Yesterday when we were there I had a pasta which had a wine and pesto sauce with sausage, onions and olives. My husband has pasta with shrimp. Both entrees were wonderful. Their service...is friendly and quick. We had so much that we did not have room for dessertMore

My sisters ( 3 of us) eat here frequently, maybe once a week for a long time now. We love it! It is a family run business with authentic Italian cuisine, with recipes that the owner’s parents brought over when they moved here from Italy....Their son and his family now run this wonderful Inn with “that old time”, comfortable feel! They have a very rustic true “INN” feel to this restaurant that you just can not find anywhere else, any longer! It is sad that wonderful places like this are quickly disappearing and are fast becoming a “ thing of the past.” “The FOSTER HOUSE”( an Inn that was on Main St in Westfield, now out of businesss), “THE SHERATON INN”( not connected to chain but in fact an actual “INN” that used to be located on Rt 20 in Westfield), tge recently moved “YANKEE PEDLAR INN”, in Holyoke along with so many others...”gone”, so it is sooooo important to go to this wonderful “RUSSELL INN”, to make sure they remain viable and in business! This “Russell Inn” is “ALWAYS BUSY” so no danger of that here but it is important to keep wonderful places like this full of loyal customers! This restaurant has specials each day, are open for lunch and dinner and have a very extensive menu with extremely inexpensive prices for lunch and inexpensive to moderate prices, depending on what you order naturally, for dinner! They offer a full choice of cocktails, beer and wine! Their homemade soup and pasta sauce is homemade along with every single item( including desserts!) on their menu! Their spaghetti sauce has been passed down for generations! I recommended their “Chicken Franchisee” or “Eggplant Parmigiana” wholeheartedly! Their Calarmari is to die for and their Rueben sandwich is excellent! Steaks and chops are cooked “perfectly!” Their salad is done up when ordered and does not have lettuce, few carrots thinly sliced w/ one tomato but is loaded with “all the vegetables that salads should( used to at other places but sadly no longer) have w/ owners homemade salad dressing! He even makes up his homemade bread fresh, each day! Amazing and you can taste the difference! The service is quick, friendly, knowledgeable and food comes out in a timely fashion! Our servers each time check to see if we need anything, how are food is and is quick to anticipate a need but does not hover at the same time, keeping a watchful eye from a distance regardless of how many parties she or he are waiting on! Fantastic service! This cute little Inn has a “pub/Inn” feel to it that I love with booths on either side of entrance( they have meeting space I saw on their side window front) in a casual atmosphere. In closing...”GO HERE!” It is a lovely, short 10 min ride from Westfield, Ma center! You will never be disappointed and whatever you order at this lovely Inn you are sure to love, returning to order and reorder it again & again( yup! that is “me!” Ha!)! The owner and chef whom is “ALWAYS THERE COOKING AND WHIPPING UP SPECIAL, CREATIVE ENTREES, also has very innovative and wonderful dishes that he prepares from time to time, which is a shock to see on the menu of this lovely Inn! They are decidedly delicious and I always bring some home for my husband (not tiny, minuscule amounts of food, either)! “YOU ABSOLUTELY NEED TO GO TO “THE RUSSELL INN” to enjoy the special ambience in this quaint Inn setting, enjoying delicious meals at an authentic Inn, that seemingly has been in business for many generations, preparing the same high quality food!More

Stopped here for lunch on the way back from a fishing day. The service was excellent and very attentive. I didn’t let our waitress finish the beer selection because they had one of my favorites as one of the first choices. Had a salad and...a pizza. Basic choices, but the salad was very good and the pizza was excellent!More

My husband and I had lunch together with another couple at the Russell Inn Restaurant in Russell, Massachusetts on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, while vacationing at Otis Reservoir. The restaurant had senior specials on Tuesdays, which was a very pleasant surprise and a great value....We all enjoyed our meals. The food was high quality, nicely prepared and delicious. The portions were quite generous and the service was very good, with our waitress being very friendly and polite. Our entrees included Chicken Parmigiana, Baked Cod with a nice stuffing, and a Chicken Sandwich and much more. The beer was also reasonably priced. In addition, the atmosphere was very relaxing with comfortable seating in nice booths. We recommend this restaurant and will definitely go back again when we are in the area.More
