The food here is always great but you can't come without trying the bucket of steamers or the chowder and clam cakes!

This place is a go to spot for lively company and entertaining. The pub/bar area is loud, so if you don't like loud, go to the restaurant side. Very attentive staff. The best soda bread and appetizers. The menu is varied but I highly recommend the Bucket of Steamers and a salad. The best I have ever tasted. Enjoy the... More

I took my husband there for his birthday last Saturday night. Got there around 5 pm and didn't have to wait for a table. We wanted to sit in the pub area. He had a Gaelic steak (which was excellent) and I had the scallop and spinach pie topped with mashed potatoes. Excellent! He said it was one of the... More

Arrived 7pm on Saturday. The place was packed but waited only 10 minutes for a table. The Irish soda bread served complimentary was excellent. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. I had the Guinness Stew and it was superb. True pub atmosphere! They even matched beer glass with the beer as it should be. Next time, we'll stay for the live music.

We ordered the clam chowder, lacking herbs/depth, like thyme. We ordered the salmon, had bones in it, and if you've ever seen someone choke on fish bones, not fun. We ordered the roast turkey and it came with stove-top stuffing... But the Brussels sprouts were very good. Great Irish soda bread, but the server had an edge to her, like... More

I was in the area on business for a week in August and I stopped at this place en route from my work location to my hotel. I sat at the bar and the couple next to me asked if I like steamers and I said of course. They said that they couldn't finish their huge order and didn't want... More

Have lived in the area for many years and had fond memories of The Chieftain being a place to have a drink and take in some late night music. Due to the positive reviews, we decided to give it a go for dinner. The place was maybe 1/3rd full and service was slow. Passed on ordering a beer because of... More

The Chieftain Pub is a place to go for a great meal and fast friendly service. I have visited the Chieftain many times in the past. The Pot Roast and the Cappoquin Chicken are two of my favorites, though if they have the Cajun Swordfish as a special don't past it by. The front of the pub is a quieter... More
