The signature dish at Legal Sea Foods – really fresh fish. Seafood Nation loves our outpost in Peabody, at the junction of Routes 128 and 114. Those traveling to and from the beaches in Cape Ann are known to jump ship for some fresh catch. And those considering a fishing trip, visit us instead. Legal Sea Foods has long proven that a consistent, high quality dining experience never goes out of style. With over 40 varieties of fresh fish and shellfish available throughout the year as well as an award-winning wine list, there’s no doubt why legions of fans have fallen hook, line and sinker. We’ve received a boatload of accolades including “Most Popular Boston Restaurant” (Zagat, 2012/2013), “Best Seafood Restaurant” (Improper Bostonian, 2010), “Best Chowder” (Boston Magazine, 2010), “Best Seafood Restaurant” (Boston Phoenix, 2009) and the honor of serving our legendary New England Clam Chowder at every presidential inauguration since 1981.

Nice chowder

Having just come from Maine we though the lobster prices over the top. We all enjoyed the famous chowder. It was filling enough that we wish we would have skipped our dinners. The table favorite was a surprise. We were blown away by the Bang Bang Cauliflower appetizer. Great alternative to meat... read more

Honestly, this restaurant chain used to be very very good, but not so much any more. The atmosphere is ok in here, but food was just mediocre. For seafood, there are better places for this pricing. Even Burtons has seafood, which is great. Best seafood in area is up in Gloucester or over in Salem at Finns. Don't bother wasting... More

Legal Seafood is a consistently top notch seafood restaurant. This location is huge. The service is friendly and attentive, and the good is quite good. We enjoyed the clam chowder-every bit as good as it is reputed to be-the Faroe Island Salmon and the chocolate mousse parfait. Drinks were strong and tasty too.

The food was a shock. This is supposed to be a very good restaurant. But it didn't feel good at all to pay over forty dollars each for meals like we got. We ordered crab dip as an appetizer and it tasted strange...it was dry and watery also. The dish I ordered was a filet and stuffed shrimp and it... More

We were shopping in the area, stopped for lunch and had an excellent meal. Needed a gluten free menu, which is not a problem for this restaurant. All their fried food is prepared gluten free. As usual for this chain, great food!

First of all, I do not normally make time to write reviews but I was so pleased with lunch there with my sister. My sister is autistic, highly functioning but very quirky and I really appreciate being in a place where the staff was so attentive. First of all the food is wonderful and I never hesitate to direct people... More

Great place to grab some fresh oysters (Sandy Neck is the fleshiest, and juiciest with the right amount of brininess); they're very prompt on service and customer experience including health/food concerns, so if you tell them something like "No animal product other than dairy, eggs and fish/seafood" they make sure your food preparation has absolutely no trace of such. Great... More

Had a great time and food was superb. Wedge salad for appetizer. Baked cod is a classic and you can not go wrong ordering it.

The service was good, but it was so loud it was hard to hear the waitress when she was next to me. It was a little too dim for the ambiance. I would like to see the food I am eating. The food was fresh and prepared well. For a crusted delicate fish, the nuts could've been ground finer. I... More
