Tonight after a long absence I, my wife and daughter and granddaughter visited the Steaming Tender with a 2 hour trip to the north shore of Mass, we waited for a table and were not disappointed. Each of us ordered separate but truely different entrees....I will only speak to what I had and how it was. First a long Island iced tea. I haven't had one this good since I don't know when it was large luscious and potent.period. My entree was aromatico Parmigiano and it was Scrumptious . Chicken creamy parmesan sauce bow tie pasta and parsley . This was a very splendid outing our waitstaff was erricient and pleasant.. I will be going back again soon. Mr Q 129 Trip Advisor.More

Where do I begin! First, stop reading the negative reviews. Our family experience this evening was incredible - from the grand entry till our exit. Service was a 10. Staff seems really happy with great energy. We loved learning tge history of the Station. The...food was also a 10. Generous, fresh and delicious portions. Again, I'd like to mention the energy. Positive. Vibrant. We can't wait to come back!!! Happy 18 years to the owners! Thank you!More

This was our second visit to this old train station turn restaurant. Food and the service has been excellent. Highly recommended the pork chops. The Thanksgiving dinner was great with the variety of options available.

. . .great photo ops, amazing service and overall just a good time. If you love trains this is your place. It is lovingly restored and beautiful. Ask to see the train car. The food is excellent. I had A fried Haddock with cream sauce,...artichoke and sun dried tomatoes. I had rice pilaf with it and it was amazing. My husband had the steak special (because we wanted to try both) and it was also amazing. I truly don’t know which I would pick if I could only have one. The kids meals were excellent, offering homemade Mac and cheese and Kraft Mac and cheese (as well as other yummy options) but our kiddos got one Kraft and one homemade as well as lovely drinks that actually had fruit them. This restauranteur gets it. Our kids now want to live here !?! We had a lovely experience here. If you are a train person look for the caboose on Airbnb, we are staying at the caboose and for our kids, this is a highlight. Whyever you are in town, I highly recommend you eat here!More

This resturant when run by the past owner was very good. Now it's terrible. The Food is not very good. They charge alot and give very little. They changed the old train songs music to modern stuff. Not good. My daughter and grandson went with me.... Sad it turned out so BAD. Until new owners come along , we will not go there again. Used to be a favorite. There in Oct.2021 from Wilbraham.More

We had some excellent dishes and tue staff is great! Short walk or drive from the Trainmaster Inn (same owners) and currently open Thursday-Sunday. We checked into our room after having dinner first and learned that guests of the Inn receive priority seating and free...dessert and we took advantage of that another night. Definitely worth choosing for a nice but casual dinner when in the area!More

This was our second time coming to the Steaming Tender, and we were not disappointed! Two of us are massive rail fans, so we enjoyed the atmosphere and checking out all of the cool train memorabilia around the old station/the restaurant. Our server, Linea, was...so friendly, helpful and outgoing. She stayed on top of everything and made sure that all of our food was perfect. The four of us split the Caesar Salad. I had the Prime Rib Melt and a manhattan, both were delicious. My wife and mother-in-law split the Aromatico Parmigiano and they enjoyed it. For a pasta dish split between 2 people, they both had a very large portion size, which was good. My father-in-law had the Marianne, which he seemed to enjoy as well. Rail fans will absolutely love this place. There are so many photos, items and models around the restaurant. When you are able to sit there and take it all in, you can only imagine what it was like to get on a train here during the hay day of rail travel. We can't wait to go back next time we are in Palmer!More

We were really enthused about trying this place, and after five hours in the car traveling were looking forward to a good meal. Each time we ordered something in the menu, the waitress came back with a rueful look on her face. "We are out...of the turkey dinner." "The soup of the day wasn't cooked properly and I don't want to serve it to you." Finally, she told us that the special salad of the day wasn't available with the special dressing created for it. The staff were nice but they had no product behind them. Our third and fourth choice foods (happily still available) were not great--a Reuben and a hamburger. Bread pudding dessert was very dry, crumbled bread in a cup. If you come here to enjoy the atmosphere snd architecture and very kind staff and just have a drink you'll have a nice time, but don't come for the food or after long travel. I am sure the problems are temporary but we spent a lit of money on a reuben, a hamburger, and a salad with dry tasteless "local orchard peaches"and sad, wilted romaine.More

I have always wanted to have a nice Sunday dinner here so did so this past . Treated my husband , son and myself . First I must say , it can be hard knowing the difference between great and not . My husband is...a chef , my son has been in the restaurant for the last 20 years and is very good at what he does . Myself has had over 40 years of experience . That being said , believe me when I tell you , our meal was a huge disappointment . We started with a clam chowder . It was good as from past experience and many a food show , we believe it was a Sysco product . Therefore it was good . The salads that came with our meals were tasty but not professionally made as they had huge hunks of onion in them . The steak tips although tender , all the tips were various sizes so when ordered med-rare , some were so , some were well and some were raw . Also the peppers , onions and mushrooms looked like they were cooked days ahead and seemed bad and completely drenched in salt .The mashed potato was discolored and dry around the edges like they had been sitting in a steam table for hours and they had just opened . My two stuffed lobster tails ($45,00) had bread stuffing no haddock or scallops like the waitress said and the stuffing was so salty it was inedible . The cold corn vegetable was a joke . Horrible ! My son's sirloin steak ordered medium came out raw so had to send it back . They gave him the same piece back instead of replacing it and it came with fries all for a whopping $39.00 . After waiting 20 minutes to get it replaced as we were not able to flag down our waitress or hostess as it seemed they were all running around with their heads cut off . And this was at 4:30 in the afternoon . All said and done , bill was $154.00 not including tip . After reaching out to the owners by email (no response) then placing a review on their facebook page , only to have it removed , we are done with this place . Yes it's a beautiful building and I wanted my son to experience it but shame , it just wasn't worth it . No value and just all around bad food and lack of respect for the customer to even take the time to acknowledge the problems . Apparently they have all high school kids working in the kitchen with no professional on site to train or over look things . Shame on the owners for taking such advantage of peoples hard earned money that decide to treat themselves to a special day only to have it ruined due to lack of caring and training and how about spend some money on someone who knows the business and can teach and train a staff . That goes for the dining room as well . As sweet as our waitress was , she definitely lacked training big time . I have gone here many times over the years and this was a last for us .More

This lovely restaurant is in an old train station. It is owned by a wonderful couple who are railroad enthusiasts. It is full of antique train memorabilia. It is entertaining and educational. The restaurant sits beside the tracks so one may watch passing trains. There...are some old cars and a locomotive in the parking lot. The food is abundant and varied with chicken, seafood, pork and beef entrees. Our waiter was enthusiastic, however missed a few cues. He did not tell us the evening entree specials, brought salads AFTER the entrees were served, etc. he was lax in clearing plates. The food was tasty, if a little pricey($350 for 4 adults and 3 children. Appetizers but no desserts.)More

We had spent time at the Brimfield Flea Market and were on our way home and hungry and remembered this place as being great. Unfortunately, today it was not so good. I orderedk the sirloin tips, medium rare and while they were cooked as ordered,...they were very salty and tough. I ordered the onion rings (which were a $2 up charge) and they weren’t crisp at all and also were kind of bland tasting. The broccoli side salad was tasty and somewhat refreshing. My husband had one of the daily specials which was supposed to be a blackened swordfish in a tomato based sauce. While he said it was tasty, it was a small, thin slice of swordfish. The rice pilaf appeared to be Nesr East Original rice Pilaf. We also ordered the bread pudding to go and asked them to skip the whip cream and put the rum sauce on the side. She brought the pudding in two containers so we asked if the sauce was on the pudding and she said yes. We told her we had wanted it on the side and she said it wasn’t a problem snd replaced the order. She was a very cheery, knowledgeable snd attentive waitress. Later, we were ready for dessert and could not believe the volume of sauce they gave is snd we were thankful we had her replace the first ones. The pudding wasn’t as creamy as we remembered nor did it have as much cinnamon. My husband had a draft beer snd I had a seltzer with Tito’s. Our bill came to $87 and some change, a little pricey for the level of food we were served.More

First visit two nights ago. First dinner out in over a year! Great atmosphere, great service even though they were quite busy. Had a 630 reservationeally liked the batter and were seated promptly. We split an app of Frickles - great name, better taste! Really...liked the batter and the honey mustard sauce. Hubby had the haddock with lobster- very very rich. I had the stuffed shrimp- 5 big shrimp cooked perfectly, seafood stuffing was very dense maybe could have used less but it was still delicious. We split the whiskey bread pudding for dessert- the bread was nothing special could have used some raisins but it was warm and the sauce is sinful. Total with a beer for him was $70.00. Good food good value. We will definitely go back and try other things!More

We had been watching the Steaming Tender during the pandemic hoping for outdoor seating. With the arrival of spring the tables appeared and we were on our way. The setting is really impressive. You can watch train activity and wave to an online RailFan camera...in the lot before enjoying your meal. Their menu covers just about everything from a cup of soup to a really large portion main course. We chose the dinner Mac & Cheese with Pulled Pork and the Chicken with Broccoli. The Mac & Cheese was delicious, but I had to eat it fast because it was not very hot when it came out. The Chicken was a bit tough, but the dinner was very tasty. We sat outside and enjoyed our meals on a sunny Saturday. The staff could not have been nicer. We will make tis a place we'll try to get to a few times a year. It is a 90 minute drive from our home, but Palmer is a nice little town to visit. We can't wait to be able to feel safe eating inside. Take this one in. You'll come back!More

They tasted very bad and it wasn't the sauce. There was no orange tinge, just bad taste. You should always avoid eating seafood that tastes "off" so you don't get food poisoning like some other guests at this restaurant.
