We got a same day reservation for 8 people on a Saturday night. Grateful we got in there! Though we were squeezed together the restaurant made it work. Food was excellent. I had the lobster Ravioli. A small would have been enough after the Flatbread...appetizer. Colleagues that had the Fra Diavlo gave a thumbs up and noted very spicy. The waitstaff was thorough and very easy going with us. Would definitely go back!More

My wife, a friend and I ate here last night and were surprised at how busy it was on a Sunday evening. No problem, as we had made a 7:30 reservation, but a surprise nonetheless. Anyway, we were seated immediately without any delay. Drinks and...appetizers were ordered and the apps arrived only a few minutes after the drinks. We ordered entrees but we felt like we were being rushed so I asked our server, Nicole, to slow things down. No problem, as the entrees were not yet cooking. From then on, things went smoothly. Our dinners were excellent, with everyone enjoying their lobster ravioli, grilled shrimp and scallops, and seafood fra diavalo. My wife and I vacation in Orleans for a month every year and, while we had not been to The Beacon Room in probably six or seven years, we’ll make sure to eat here again soon.More

Went here for a special occasion and right from the start things didn't go well. It took a while for the waiter to acknowledge our table, took our drink order, the drinks didn't arrive until over 15 minutes later. We ordered a Caesar salad that...was very good. I ordered the Seafood Fra Diavolo, my partner ordered the Lobster Ravioli. The menu mentioned the Seafood dish was spicy, but I wasn't prepared for what was severed! I love spicy food but not this like this, I was up most of the night. The diner had 2 small shrimp, 2 small scallops, 4 or 5 small clams and some calamari scattered, the seafood tasted like rubber, way overcooked, you just can't let seafood sit in a sauce. I didn't touch the pasta, because of the spices. I couldn't eat my dinner, the waiter asked if I'd like to take it home, I declined. I mentioned it was inedible. The ravioli didn't have much lobster, but the sauce was good. This is the last time I will visit the Beacon Room. We sure do miss the Capt. Linnell House.More

Our friend visiting thenCape from California hungered for a lobster roll, so we brought her to Beacon Room for their Lobster Croissant. That totally filled the bill for her. In the process, we were reminded that, unlike 99% of all restaurants on the Cape, Beacon...keeps its fried seafood options on separate grills so that customers like key wife with shellfish allergies can safely indulge their craving for fried seafood without fear. The food is invigorating, the options appealing, and the ambiance — once you get past the uninspiring artwork on the walls — is relaxed and terrific. Our waitress was delightful, too.More

This is a restaurant not to be missed when in or near Orleans on Cape Cod. Just had another great dinner with friends. The chicken parm is wonderful but have to take a doggie bag it is so big. Had the roasted duck last week...and it was the best duck ever or as we say on the Cape EVAH! The Beacon Room has succeeded making a Covid situation work well. The outdoor tent is decorated with lovely plants and twinkle lights adding to the white table cloth ambiance. Can't wait to see what I can have next! Janis on the CapeMore

As we had out of town guests staying with us, we took them to The Beacon thinking we would have a fine meal. No, no, no!!! Not sure where to begin, but my husband mussels had a strange smell making them unappetizing and my Chicken...Milanese was so awful!! Was it from the night before and then reheated? It was as dry as could be and cooked till dark brown! It was sitting on a bed of cold mashed potatoes and then the ENTIRE plate was covered with WET arugula!! Perhaps to hid the mess beneath. We said nothing during the dinner as we were with guests, but as soon as we arrived home, one of our guests said her lobster croissant was “off” and she had a tummy ache!! We offered Alka Seltzer. Later she threw up!!! 😱 OMG!!! We were so embarrassed for choosing The Beacon! Was it because it was a Monday evening and food was left from the weekend?? Please be careful when eating here. We are NEVER returning. Good luck to summer vacationers that don’t know anything about local restaurants. There are so many better restaurants with chefs that care!!More

We had a really good birthday dinner here at the Beacon Room during our stay. There are no “reservations” but you can call (which I recommend ) to be put on a walk in list. The staff was very nice and everything was clean. When...we visited on a Saturday night I was definitely happy I had called 2 hours ahead to be put on the list. Currently they have a large outdoor tent (with very cute lighting) and a nice patio and were serving 6 tables inside. We were offered inside but decided to wait for an outdoor table ( it is summer after all :)). This is where I only regret not having bug spray since the mosquitos did come out around 8pm. Also- for some reason these weird beetles kept dive bombing us - but they were tiny! But these things weren’t really the restaurant’s fault - just kind of the price to pay eating outside! As long as your are prepared for some wildlife get ready for a great meal!More

Recent changes have raised the bar taking this normally terrific restaurant well into the realm of outstanding. First, the adaptation to social distancing has been accomplished in a thoughtful, creative way that results in a pleasing, tiered garden experience. It is very attractive, comfortable, efficient...and safely organized. Staff adhere to all protocols without being overt. Second, the always reliable high quality menu has been upgraded to one of the best we have ever experienced on the Cape. Beginning with Caesar and Wedge salads, these common dishes were far above the norm, perfectly dressed and seasoned. Then came the main courses of sole and haddock. Each came served on a bed of rice/risotto, vegetable and sauce that were so perfectly married and balanced that we are still marveling at them a week later. We inquired and were informed these were all the output of a new head chef, Amy. In the past decade the Cape has been fortunate to attract a small group of truly outstanding gourmet establishments. Beacon is now firmly entrenched in that field.More

Ate here last July and enjoyed the experience. Ate here tonight and did not. Our server was very kind and professional. The chef, was maybe not as well trained. The chowder attempted to divert from the mundane with an intensely rich, cream base. After a...few spoonfuls, it became far too rich. Our mains were unappetizing. The ravioli lacked flavor and the sauce appeared to have “broken.” The “Dijon & Herb seared salmon” arrived completely blackened and was overcooked. I have to admit to being slightly shocked when the plate was placed in front of me. It looked incinerated.More

My wife and I went back to Orleans to visit old friends. They made a reservation for the four of us at The Beacon. My wife and I shared a Caesar salad - delicious and plenty for the two of us. She chose the swordfish,...I the Seafood Era Diavlo. Both were truly excellent. Add two drinks: chardonnay for my wife; Beefeaters gin for me. Total: $94.68, not including tip. Surely, The Beacon is one of the best in Orleans. The best as far as I am concerned.More

For me The Beacon Room always had the best fried Calamari on the Lower and Outer Cape, and you need to note the use of the past tense, “had”. On my recent visit I told the neighboring diners that I was having the “best calamari...on the Cape” as I waited for my order to arrive, but when it arrived, the disappointment immediately set in. They changed the presentation from what was very appealing and appetizing to something more ‘normal’ to the other restaurants. Yes, the ingredients seemed to be still the same – Calamari corn crusted, deep fried with jalapeños and chouriço – but in a way, it was not the same. Maybe the presentation threw me off, but the flavor also did not meet “the way it used to be”. The Calamari has always been a ‘go to’ given when I dined at The Beacon Room, but now it has been moved to the back seat, if not the rumble seat. Other than that, everything else continues on course at The Beacon Room.More

A bit expensive for lunch, but then we had soup, sandwiches with fries and then dessert. Everything was so good, we were lured on to the next course. Highly recommend the curry croissant. Staff were friendly and attentive. Very pleasant. Look forward to next visit.

Can't believe I never knew this restaurant was here. Stopped in for lunch. Interior is cosy. Staff was friendly. And, to top it off had one of the best burgers ( cooked med rare with cheddar cheese with sautéed onions )and french fries that I...had had in ages. Next time I am in the area will definitely go back to try other things on the menu.More

We both had the Surf n Turf special, and in over 40 years of coming to the Cape, it’s one of my favorite meals. Ever. The presentation was beautiful, the chowder delicious, and the lobster and filet were perfectly prepared. We also liked the ambiance...and the wait staff. We highly recommend this gem!More
