What a hidden gem. This place is hidden in a neighborhood. We live 2 towns away and never knew it was here. We were given a gift card to try it out. So glad we did. We went on a Wednesday night. What a surprise 5 dollar pizza night. So we got 2 to go. For those in the know they were south shore bar style. And very tasty my son dove into them when we got home. Prices are reasonable. Drinks were perfect my highball was served in a frosty glass! Perfect for a 95 degree night! We had collectively fish, lobster tail, chicken, and burgers, the onion rings were a great start. But all that aside. The staff there was super friendly!! We were treated like regulars even though it was our first visit. Thanks to GPS we found it. Small parking lot out back. But I will still need GPS to find it again when we go back. Great Place! Owners should be proud of their staff!

This is a true neighborhood pub. Seriously in the middle of a neighborhood. Apparently a “locals” place which makes it part of the charm.
Menu is good, service also good. Nothing exceptional, but a nice dinner at a good price. 4 stars aside, this is worth a stop if you’re in the area.

Quaint place located in the middle of the neighborhood. Solid family style food, a bit worn but that's what makes the look. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere.

I can't give a review on the food as I was given the run around when I tried to place a take out order. Initial call I was told Prime Rib would not be ready for 45 minutes (5PM), I asked if I could order than pick up when ready. No, I would have to call back. I called back at 6 PM and was told that the Prime Rib was sold out. Another person got on the phone to tell me it wasn't cooked yet & would take(are you ready) 45 minutes. She said it was a large Rib. ( The staff should get their stories straight.) Mined you that they are only open 4-8 PM, it's already after 6 PM. She then tells me they wil have it on menu tomorrow. I declined. If I can't get a simple order placed, I'm not sure I would want to eat here.

this place is horrible. I don't know what the folks are eating that give this place 4.5 stars...sub par food at best. Frozen veal, frozen chicken parm, frozen chicken fingers, frozen shrimp. Nothing is fresh. Absolutely horrendous food the only good thing about this place was the hot rolls..oh and the chowder is awful as well. COLD and ice. I wouldn't step foot back into this place. It's a hang out for the locals...if you want frozen, heated over food then this is your place.

Parking is tight and watch street sign parking. Old style feel with high quality food. Beer selection a little light and prices a touch high but taste, staff , and atmosphere make it a place for multiple visits.

We were looking for a new place to try, and although this restaurant is anything but new, it was a good find for us. We tried two appetizers - the buffalo chips and calamari. The chips were thinly cut potatoes with a slightly spicy seasoning (very slightly!) and served with bleu cheese dressing for dipping. So good!
I really loved the calamari. They were not rubbery, and not over-fried. A perfect crunch and a perfect marinara dipping sauce. I'm very picky with sauce out of the home, and this was really good. It wasn't too sweet, and was not over-seasoned at all.
I ordered the fried clams (with bellies) and scallops which came with french fries and cole slaw. The clams and scallops were delicious, and a very good portion for $21; I ate almost half of it. My sister ordered the fried haddock with butternut squash and mashed potatoes (real). The haddock was not oily or greasy at all, had a nice light coating on it, and she enjoyed it.
Only negative in the food was the french fries, as there was just no flavor to them at all. Next time, I will get the mashed instead.
Our server had a great personality and was very attentive!
The restaurant is really in the middle of a residential area, but I'm glad we found this place. We will definitely be back.

There isn't enough space to write about how much I enjoy my meals at the Colonial House. I have been coming to this place for almost 50 years. It's a neighborhood restaurant that for many, many years never even had a name on the establishment. Everyone knew where it was. The food is plentiful and reasonably priced and delicious. Two of my favorites are the pizza and the clam chowdah. But then again, I've never had a meal I didn't thoroughly enjoy. I no linger live in MA but I visit often, my kids and grandkids are here, so at least once per visit we all come to laugh, reminisce and enjoy. It's kind of like Norwood's version of Cheers where everyone knows your name. Till next year!

Four of us went on a Monday and it was not very busy, quiet enough to have a conversation. They have specials along with a regular menu. We started with the calamari appetizer which was cooked perfectly, not chewy. The scallops were tender and tasty. One of the specials was a rib eye which was cooked as requested, as were the steak tips. I could only eat 1/2 of the veal Parmesan (because portions were large) which had a nice red sauce.
We've never had a bad meal there.

This is a wonderful out of the way local spot. The bar is great and the food is excellent. Nice selection of beer on tap. Everything from pizza to prime rib and fried seafood. The prime rib is amazing. We have never had a bad meal. Nothing fancy just a great local spot where the waitresses know you.
