Since we are in the interim period of covid curb-side pickup, I can only review the food; this shopping strip restaurant was not accessible to evaluate facility or ambiance. I ordered an appetizer of seared sesame crusted tuna followed by a seaweed salad and sashimi...assortment that was possibly the freshest fish I have ever had. Having eaten sashimi and sushi for many years throughout Japan and in major coastal cities in the States, I have come to realize that it is difficult to rate something like sashimi on any basis other than food variety, quality/freshness and presentation. This restaurant scored 100% on quality and, in fairness, rating on presentation is withheld as it is difficult to create a presentation in a to-go box. Other factors in rating highly were depth of menu (👍👍on each course) and value (also 👍👍). If it is good authentic Japanese cuisine you seek, look no further than Yama Zakura. Oishī shokujiMore

MA is openeing slowly, so we are still doing curbside pickup when we want to eat out. Yama Zakura never fails to delight. I am the sushi fan, and they had nearly the same selection as pro-Covid. Of course it all tasted yummy, although I...messed up the presentation when I knocked the bag in the car. :-( For the non-sushi eater, his choices were more severely limited. They did warn that the kitchen was not providing as broad a menu, but there were really only about 6 dishes to choose from. The on-line ordering portal was also messed up, so it took a long time to order and we had to pay cash upon pickup. But dinner was well worth it. Yum!More

Amazing sushi and service every time! Never disappointing! Good selection of cooked and raw sushi. Lots of other dishes for non-sushi lovers!

Every time I come to Yama Zakura I always have such a delicious meal. Both their noodle dishes and sushi rolls are flavorful and yummy. I shared a Lobster Bomb Roll (one of my all time favorites) and the Coco Noodles with a friend and...we both loved it. Can’t wait until I can go back!More

I have ordered take out here twice. Both times one of the two rolls ordered have been incorrect. Of the rolls I have had only one has been quite good. The rest are just OK. One of the mistakenly given rolls was awful though, which...is the impetus behind this post being written. Perhaps eating there would be a better experience, but I will not give it another chance. The place does seem to do well. The two times I have walked in the place has been packed.More

Always fresh and imaginative dishes. The large menu is filled with tasty choices. We have never been served anything less than delicious. The sushi and the drinks are top notch. Always very busy but the staff never rushes you and the service is great.

Yama Zakura is a family favorite. We like Yama for several reasons: 1) The sushi rolls are creative and flavorful and always FRESH! They have a team of chefs creating these delicious masterpieces and we have never been let down. They are the perfect temperature...and they melt in your mouth. 2) The flavor combinations offered with the sushi rolls are satisfying to the taste buds. They always pair interesting combinations with unexpected sauces or herbs- our favorites include Rita's Core Crunch which is a tribute roll to Rita Matraia, owner of a fabulous local fitness business called the Core Connection (Northborough). The roll combines spicy tuna, cucumber, carrot and ginger and is then topped with tuna, panko, sesame seeds, avocado and rainbow mix and then topped with wasabi mayo and speicy zakura sauce. The flavor is incredible and the unexpected flavor of ginger with the crunch of panko makes for a perfect roll- one that you never want to run out of! 3) For our non-sushi eaters in the house, we found their spicy basil and regular pad thai dishes hit a home run. We always order with chicken and the chicken is thin, a little larger than bite size and robust in quantity-at least 3-4 ounces in an order with the pad thai noodles. We never have left overs. 4) The drink menu is fantastic and they bring the creativity offered in the rolls over to the bartenders and they make some fun and amazing tasting and decadent cocktails. Every now and again when we eat there, we will order the scorpion bowl for two- it packs a punch! 5) Finally, the service is wonderful! Everyone seems to really enjoy being there and we have always been treated with amazing staff From our family to yours! If you are ready for some incredible Asian Fusion, visit this stapled business establishment in Northborough- I highly recommend reservations on the weekend!More

The food and drinks are very good here but the wait for the food to come out is ridiculous! It isn’t even crowded!

We have ate here a couple of different times. Pretty easy to get to. It does get busy, but we have always been able to get a seat. Good staff - helpful in choosing from the menu or board.
