My Wife and I expected to eat in the Wiggins Restaurant, but upon arrival realized that we would be eating in the Coolidge Restaurant instead. No big deal with that. I have no complaints with the bar's nor waitperson's service. I do have complaints about...the coordination between the waitstaff and kitchen staff. By the time my Wife's order was finally presented my meal was cold. If the "restaurant" was busy I would take that under consideration, but the restaurant was empty which may be reflective of the "quality" of service and/or product. I/We do not recommend this restaurant.More

This meal was our 3rd attempt to like this restaurant... there will not be a 4th attempt. Our food - swordfish and salmon - were ho hum, our veggies - charred brussel sprouts - tasted like they had been boiled, then charred in a pan,...and our salads were typical fare. Our server, however, was excellent. She was personable, attentive, and checked on us. Too bad that Wiggins isn't special because its location is lovely!More

The Hotel Northampton/Wiggins Tavern was truly a lovely setting for us on Christmas day! The classic, elegant decor and the festive Christmas tree in the lobby really added to the warmth and charm of our visit! My family of 5 were all quite pleased with...the very attentive, courteous and friendly service from our server Chip!....in addition, the other helpers assisting us were right on point too! The food portions were very generous and delicious.....and we had some leftovers to enjoy for later! It was very nice having a corner round table where it was cozy and quiet, making it easier to converse easily and without distraction! We'll definitely be back to dine at Wiggins Tavern next Christmas day!More

4 of us went for Sunday brunch. It was overpriced with poor service. We sat down, and 1 person went back to the car for something. The waitress came, and described the brunch. We waited for the other person to return, and then decided to...get the buffet. When we came back to the table she came back to take our drink order. We also asked her to bring hot sauce for our table. She brought a bottle of hot sauce with maybe 10 drops. When we asked for another she told us there was 1 other bottle with a bit more. We didn't understand why she didn't bring the bottle with more and or both bottles. The food was decent.More

Like finding a friend of very long standing who seems to have aged as well as you have, going back for dinner to Wiggins Tavern in the Hotel Northampton at the center of the town was a very pleasant surprise. Reconfigured more as a spot...to have a drink and some bar snacks, I didn't expect much from a dinner. But with fresh vegetables, serious cuts of meat, and traditional chowdah, the menu did not disappoint. White table cloths, in a room designed to reflect the Hotel Northampton's long history, added a measure of elegance. And a very good value, made our dinner an unanticipated success. I'll be back again, and sooner than the interval between our last visits.More

My husband and I enjoyed dinner before a show at the Calvin Theater across the street. Service was very good - we were seated right away and Lauren our server worked hard and took good care of us. My husband had the filet and I...had the scallops and we both enjoyed our meals very much! I just loved the ground mustard with the scallops. We will return!More

Great restaurant. The food was really good, my steak was cooked to perfection. The staff was excellent, serving an entire wedding party and their families. Great experience.

This is one of the coziest places to eat in Northampton and I was delighted to find that the food was as good and as ample as it was when I tried it again after 30 years. The large menu defines "comfort food" in my...book with many "modern" dishes, too. Once recently I was there I went with a group of friends in winter and were lucky enough to get the seats in the sofa and easy chairs facing the fireplace. It was late afternoon and we had drinks and snacks, warmed up and enjoyed the atmosphere. Northampton is an historic town and it seems fitting to go to the 200 year old Tavern for a meal. If you are there in the summer, have a drink and meal or snack on the Hotel Northampton's terrace facing King St. right in the heart of town, the Tavern's sister eatery. There's loads of parking in the back of the hotel so I'm surprised about the comment saying there was none. Maybe there was an event that night. There's a town parking garage about 3 blocks away, too.More

No parking. I had to walk two blocks with a cake and gift, my over night bag. Charged twice for an extra $366.00. Still not refunded 3 weeks later. The bar was closed for a different occasion. We left, drank and ate elsewhere.

The hostess was terribly nervous, rude, or worse. She would not seat us when most of the room was empty with set tables. We arrived about seven minutes before our reservation- but were turned out of the dining room. When I went back in, she...asked me if I had a reservation ( she acted like she never saw me before in her life) I gave her my name again for the second time. She sent us out again and when I asked what the problem was I drew her attention to all of the empty tables. She told me " All of these tables are reserved" But we had also had a reservation- since October. I walked out of the dining room again to wait our six more minutes to be seated and me and my family watched as she seated three other parties ahead of us who arrived after we did. This felt disrespectful. When we finally were seated we walked a long way to our food, out a hallway, down stairs, and to the end of a line which was hard to decipher. The line moved slowly S L O W L Y. Much of the food ran out as the people went by. By the time I got to the green beans they were gone- there was no butter for the hard hard rolls- and believe it or not there was NO cranberry sauce at all for anyone. Several tables requested some. but finally we were told they just ran out of it. The food they did have was good but they did not have ANY cranberry sauce in the whole place and on Thanksgiving this is really a big mistake and pretty bad when you pay $35.00 dollars per person. The waitress was wonderful and did go everyplace looking for cranberry sauce but to no avail. I suggest the hostess and staff explain their unique seating system to guests as our family left this dinner discussing all of the reasons why we kept getting turned away while others were let in ahead of us- into an almost EMPTY dining room. Simple kindness and courtesy would have helped in this situation but I have no idea what happened. We were the only nonwhite guests at the time and so it felt somewhat awkward as we kept watching white parties get seated ahead of us again and again while we were made to wait. I have to admit this did impact the joy of our day. I have reservations for Christmas Eve but I think I will cancel them. I will never go back here for a holiday dinner like Thanksgiving. I am personally offended by the treatment and paid 120 dollars for three. So much for the great Thanksgiving reputation. Never AgainMore

Ate here for two meals during a recent stay at the attached hotel. Dinner had a good variety so everyone found something to like. I had the swordfish with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Other people I our party loved the risotto. Portions seemed pretty large...(but to me, most places have large portions). Sunday brunch the next day was quite a spread. There were the typical brunch foods and the quote a few more lunch types of things. The dessert tray was awesome. I could have just eaten from that table for the whole meal.More

We went here two nights in a row - one for dinner and one for drinks at the bar. BOTH nights were miserably disappointing!! We waited and waited and waited at the hostess stand to be seated but no one ever arrived to help. We...finally walked into the dining room and were told by a server to wait where we were before being seated. The food is WAY overpriced and NOT good - the kind of food you would expect at a chain restaurant. The service was ever more appalling. The servers were no where to be found and consistently forgot to bring out drinks and condiments. I have NO IDEA how this place stays in business besides it's perfect location in town. We have attended events here in the past and the service has only gone downhill from the very poor service we received then.More
