Delicious for certain but overpriced:( The space itself is fantastic - old, small, aged to perfection...if only it didn't break the bank to take a family of five there.

Thanks for your review. Just so you know, our pricing is based on the costs of doing business and manufacturing the products we sell. We do not skimp on ingredients and buy the best in order to make our product. Sometimes those costs are higher than you would expect, but for the best taste, it's worth it. More

Tons of creative flavors. Best hot fudge. Northampton favorite for all things ice cream. They even have sugar free and dairy free options. Ask for samples, try and choose just one flavor if you can! Open late in warm weather. Long lines but worth it!

This place is always bustling with customers because it has great homemade ice cream and is a very well know in the region. A large variety of flavors and toppings and of course the famous "smoosh ins" where toppings are pressed folded and smooshed into the ice cream. Recently remodeled the place is light clean and inviting. Don't forget to... More

Enjoy ice cream but always like some unusual twist to the flavors. This shop had a great selection and the sampler is a great way to try something you might not want in a whole cup/cone. My favorites were the NE chocolate chip and the reverse chip

Original ice cream guru Steve is not running the place anymore and it's noticeable. Behind the counter staff is always great and the product is wonderful. Frequently large lines in warm weather, but it moves fairly fast.

Thanks for your review. I just wanted to be sure you understood that while it is true that Steve has retired, the management of the Herrell's store and company has not changed. Judy Herrell and Steve Herrell had managed the store and company as partners for over 35 years and Judy (me), is still working in the business daily. While... More

This place was built by Steve Herrell (he founded Steve's in Somerville in the 1970s), inventor of the smoosh-in and one of the progenitors of premium ice cream with creative and delicious flavors. The hot fudge and real chocolate sprinkles/jimmies are delightful, as is the chocolate pudding ice cream and delightful ice cream cakes made with two layers of ice... More

Enjoyed the natural mint chocolate chip. Very fresh. Also tried the peppermint peanut butter pattie, which had a big chunk of frozen peanut butter in it.

We bumped into this place after lunch on a chilly afternoon but, the many varieties/self creations of ice cream killed the chill or added to the chill which i didn't regret AT ALL! If i had missed, I would have regretted for a long time. Another surprise after the interview at Williston.

I have waited more than half an hour for this ice cream and it is so worth it. Don't let the long line discourage you, it moves fast and these people are waiting for a reason. The ice cream is amazing, try the weird flavors, they are really good and much better than they sound. The hot fudge is to... More

I visit this place several times a year. I am always staggered by the variety of ice cream flavors, many exotic,on offer. Yesterday, however,I hit the jackpot. Licorice very good. Baklava better. But the ginger sorbet was a knockout. The best cold dessert I have ever, ever had(I am over 70). Kudos to all concerned!
